Review of the game "X3: Earth Conflict".

This music will be eternal. History is doomed to repeat itself, even in particulars - this is not the first time that opinions about the next game of serials are diametrically opposite. Some extol its depth and scale, voice a long list of invented virtues, and argue that X3 is absolutely brilliant. And those who are not with them are simply not in the subject. They did not hit the stream, the chip was not cut down. They ("not caught up") are other, adequate people.

As the subtitle suggests, the events of the "addon" will unfold in an unimagined solar system, around the Earth, a planet, hehe, discovered at the end of X3: Reunion. You can start a campaign as one of four pilots, whose fates intersect from time to time. Each has its own ship and its own goals. In practice, the above points of contact are nothing more than the execution of the same or very similar missions by different heroes in a slightly different order. However, the free mode has not been forgotten either: at any moment of the game you can stop running according to the story and fly about your own business. Paving your own route: if you want - engage in trade or piracy, protection of merchants, space exploration. All non-plot decisions affect your reputation and your place in the universe. Actions form the attitude of various factions towards the pilot, and perhaps one of them will be interested in your services.

You might think that the problem with the game is that it is difficult to master. Indeed, in X3: ZK, instead of the entry curve, there is a vertical vertical. It turns out there is nowhere to get the skills necessary for survival. And it’s not a world at all, but a set of decorations with a bunch of “talking heads”, talking the same type of phrases and sharing the same dialogue options.

There is plenty to do in this space sandbox, but to be honest, the activities are mostly boring. 95% of the playing time is spent traveling. Literally: you point your aircraft in the right direction, squeeze full thrust, and stare at the monitor for 10 minutes.

This idleness, or, frankly, the reluctance to entertain the player, is an indicator of a much larger problem stemming from the controversial decision made by the developers about the reliability of the simulation. The game is focused on pseudo realism, and neglects any opportunity to facilitate your existence. Make everything comfortable.

I will give advice: watch the indicator of the received damage. Being scratched, you can hardly survive an ordinary firefight in an airless space, and after surviving, you will be left with a ship that moves at a speed of 15 meters per second. And just imagine: you trudge through space, you cannot increase the speed of the game (this ability is bestowed on unbroken ships), which means that you are doomed to pretend to be a snail. Which do you choose - loading the last save or an hour of painful flight to the nearest port from the repair shop?

"Conflict" perfectly complements the world of the original game, and the freedom given to you to live in this world with your mind deserves a round of applause. But in X3: ZK there is nothing that would justify wasting time on the game, and all kinds of development within the game for some reason made painfully slow (15 m / s). The story that closes the trilogy has failed to overcome the series' inherent mistakes.
