Bosch batteries are divided into two groups according to their purpose: starter batteries and traction and lighting batteries.

Starter motors give a large current when starting the car engine.
Traction and lighting are designed for long-term loads with a small current value. They are used exclusively on forklift trucks, boats, as a source of illumination or to supply power to power units.

The operating mode of such batteries is more severe, because they are used on trucks. Therefore, the requirements for the quality of charging are overestimated, including the reason for their serial connection, in order to obtain a voltage of 24 volts. If you look at the battery along the length - where the label is glued and the terminals are located - then most batteries have a positive terminal on the right. This is the "reverse" polarity of the battery. It is so called due to the fact that on domestic cars the positive terminal of the battery is located on the left (this is the "straight" polarity). Batteries with Asian terminal arrangement (JIS) and frame sizes are included in the S4 and S3 series only. The S6 and S5 series are intended only for use on vehicles with European standard sizes.

BOSCH rechargeable batteries with small dimensions are combined into M4 and M6 series rechargeable batteries.
