Review of Bluetooth headsets

Overview Bluetooth headsets

Jabra JX10

One of the representatives of a rare type of mono Bluetooth headsets with good workmanship

Design

The JX10 was designed by Jacob Jensen's studio, so the look of the headset is modern and sleek. Due to the strict style, the device looks inconspicuous, but expensive. Thanks to high-tech solutions, the Jabra JX10 is compact and light - its weight does not exceed 10 g. It is designed according to the classic scheme, where a one-piece housing contains all the electronics and is located on the outside of the ear. The engineers, together with the designers, had to work hard, a miniature and cute headset, but also well technologically equipped.

Ergonomics

The front end of the case houses a microphone and an earpiece. On the back of the headset there is a charging connector and volume control. The earhook is very thin, which raises doubts about its reliability. An indicator light will show the status of the Bluetooth connection and the battery level. There is a separate button for pairing the headset with other devices (a very convenient solution, unlike other products, where you need to press several specific buttons at the same time). The headset is easy to use thanks to the well-thought-out ergonomics and the placement of the main controls. Even the tiny size of the Jabra JX10 doesn't compromise the convenience of frequent use.

Communication and sound quality

The headset supports Bluetooth version 1.2, but does not support the A2DP profile for music playback. However, she does not need this, since the headset is monophonic and was not originally intended for listening to music. In conditions of direct visibility between the headset and a mobile phone, the range of reliable communication is 7-8 m, which is standard for devices of this class. You can easily leave your phone in your bag and move freely in the room, communicating without interference. Despite its modest size, the device provides high-quality sound reception - it is equipped with an automatic volume control function. This is achieved through digital signal processing (DSP) technology. The headset provides good sound quality - without interference and distortion of the frequency spectrum. The sound in the speaker is clear and natural enough.

Equipment

I was pleasantly pleased with the set of the headset, which included: a stylish desktop charger (cradle), a mains-powered charger, a USB cable for charging via a PC, an ear hook, a cloth bag and documentation. And yet the most noticeable part of the JX10 kit is the cradle. It is made of aluminum and is made in the same style as the headset itself - using strictly straight lines. The stand with the headset installed looks like one piece.

Working hours

Jabra JX10 with several hours of communication a day withstands 2-3 days of battery life, and this is a good indicator. It takes only 1.5 hours to fully recharge the battery.

Motorola H500

A cute accessory in the middle price segment will certainly suit many.

Design

H500 is a plastic-metal solution with pleasant shapes and rather small dimensions. The undoubted advantage of the accessory is the abundance of color solutions - you can choose one of 13 shades, among which are traditionally black and quite feminine pink. In general, the appearance of the headset leaves only positive impressions.

Ergonomics

The headset does not really stand out in terms of ergonomics - everything here is laconic and very decent. The accessory has two volume control buttons and one multifunctional button, which is used to receive / hang up a call, as well as to pair the headset with a phone. The device can be worn on both the right and left ear. To do this, you just need to rearrange the temple. However, there is one interesting point: no matter what ear you wear the headset on, the volume up key will always be at the top.

It should be noted that the headset is very pleasant to wear, since all points of contact with your ear are framed by rubber inserts. Although at first there is a feeling that the headset is not very securely located, it, however, quickly dissipates.

Communication and sound quality

At this point, the headset clearly fell short of expectations. From the first conversation you understand that the sound quality is clearly not at the highest level. And from the interlocutor you learn along the way that, it turns out, you speak very quietly. Therefore, you will have to communicate in a quiet place without extraneous noise. But you will still be kicked out of the library, since you will have to pronounce the words a little louder than usual. The fact that the headset is not equipped with a noise cancellation system also thickens the colors a little, although this should not be required from a device of this price segment.

Communications

As for communications, a Bluetooth 1.2 module is installed here, which will be able to provide communication at a distance of up to 10 m. The process of pairing with the phone is simple - just hold down the multifunctional key on the central unit of the headset for a while. I am glad that there is a standard miniUSB connector for charging the battery. You can connect to it not only chargers from Motorola, but also ordinary computer USB cables.

Equipment

There is nothing special to note at this point: except for the headset itself, you will find only a charger and operating instructions in the box. Modestly, but the lack of additional accessories favorably affected the cost of the headset.

Working hours

With a 180 mAh lithium-ion battery, the device will work without problems for about four days under medium load conditions. A full charge lasts no more than two hours with any source of electricity.

Gear4 BluEye

BluEye gear4 is the perfect solution for iPod'oB and hands-free music lovers. The fact is that fans of the world's best MP3 players often miss their phone calls - what conversations can be when David Guetta breaks in your headphones. Even a vibrating alert does not always help.

To solve this problem, Gear4 engineers created a unique iPod accessory. It looks a bit like a Bluetooth headset, but at the same time it is connected to the player. With this gadget, you can remotely switch tracks, receive calls and change the sound volume. In addition, BluEye will allow you to display the name and number of the person who decided to interrupt your idyll on the player's screen. To do this, you need to enter the device's Bluetooth profile into your phone. When the call is answered, music playback is paused. BluEye also displays a list of the last nine calls, and if you want to dial the number stored in the iPod, just press the Play key. In any case, when working with this accessory, you do not need to take your phone and iPod out of your pocket. However, the bonuses of the owner of the gadget do not end there - thanks to BluEye, you can turn your iPod into a full-fledged FM receiver with 15 channels of memory.

Nokia BH-800

The Nokia VN-800 headset is positioned as a fashion accessory. The model is available in black and pale gold colors. The earphone has an excellent package, good functionality and a universal mounting system. The box with the headset comes with a standard charger that can be used to charge a Nokia mobile phone if desired, a stylish lanyard that allows you to wear the earphone around your neck and a small case for storing an accessory.

The fastening system is a swiveling metal bow with a variable angle of inclination and girth of the auricle. I did not immediately appreciate the convenience of this design. At first, the earpiece kept falling out of the ear and striving to fly off with each turn of the head. But later the headset seemed to have grown.

When not in use, the earphone can be worn around the neck as a decoration or put in a case, where it will be protected from dust and dirt.

The process of connecting to the phone is as simple as possible compared to other headsets. The communication quality is at a very high level, and the functions of dialing the last number and voice calling subscribers work without interruptions. The earphone has sufficient speaker volume, which makes it a convenient means of communication in different conditions.

However, I note that the capacity of the battery does not allow you to feel complete freedom. During the day, the headset withstood more than two hours of talk time, after which it warned about the complete discharge of the battery and turned off.

Characteristics

Model - Nokia BH-800

Technology - Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR

Supported profiles - Handsfree 1.5, Headset 1,

Functions - voice dialing, redialing

Battery - Li-Pol 69 mAh

Standby time - up to 160 hours

Talk time - up to 6 hours

Dimensions (edit) - 4.1x1.8x0.9 cm

Weight - 9 g

Verdict

pros - Stylish design, rich bundle, easy connection, support for remote control profiles

Minuses - Opinion about the mounting system is ambiguous, sometimes the earphone does not fit well on the ear. The battery has to be charged every day.

Nokia BH-801

Nokia headset BH-801 is both an accessory for convenient communication and decoration. Unlike other Bluetooth headsets, the VN-801 comes with a stylish lanyard that allows you to wear the headphone around your neck and a belt clip. The latter is also designed to be worn when not in use. Thus, the manufacturer emphasized the image orientation of its product, this model is popular with the owners of expensive Nokia models, and especially the Nokia 8800. Thanks to the lanyard and the clip, you can always take a headset with you and answer calls, without having to wear an accessory on your ear ... The list of ergonomic advantages of the model does not end there. The headset weighs only 11 grams, which is why it is hardly felt when worn for a long time on the ear. In terms of functionality, Nokia BH-801 meets all the requirements for a modern wireless headset. It supports the recall function, has a convenient speaker volume control and a voice dialing function, thanks to which you can reduce the number of calls to the phone book when you need to make a call. Besides, Nokia BH-801 can be used for listening to music and, despite the low sound quality, this feature, as it turned out, is important for some users. With all this, the earphone provides up to 6 hours of talk time and up to 160 hours of standby time.

Characteristics

Model - Nokia BH-80

Interface - Bluetooth 2.0, 1.2 and 1.1 with Handsfree 1.5 (HFP) or Headset 1.1 (HSP) profiles

Nokia Bluetooth Headset BH-500

I've dreamed about this accessory for a long time, ever since I got a phone with Bluetooth A2DP support and a decent player. The VN-500 wireless set consists of a main module and a plug-in sports headset with a 3.5 mm jack. Thus, you can use not only standard headphones, but also any other open and closed models of your choice.

The set can be easily synchronized with the phone, supports redialing and voice calls. The module is equipped with playback control keys, volume control, as well as a call answer button and a microphone. It can be attached to the chest pocket of a shirt or jacket, the lapel of a jacket and other clothing using a regular clip. The only problem was the non-working function of rewinding within the track, although according to the instructions this possibility is supported.

As for the operation of the device, the VN-500 is distinguished by reliable communication, which allows you to move away from the phone at a distance of 10 meters. Interference appears only when moving from room to room. The sound quality and volume makes all other headsets smoke quietly on the sidelines. Plugging in the Koss UR-40 headphones, I felt the real drive that you get at a live concert, and it was much more pleasant to talk than using a standard headset with miniature headphones.

In addition, the kit comes with an additional module that allows you to connect VN-500 to a desktop computer or laptop.

Plantronics Discovery 665

Plantronics is one of the most respected Bluetooth headset companies. This model of the top Discovery line is distinguished not only by decent functionality, but also by impeccable ergonomics.

Plantronics Discovery 665 is a one-stop solution that comes complete with a wide range of accessories. The headset is supplied with three chargers - a standard network and USB cable for charging from a computer. The earphone can also be charged using a car adapter consisting of a cigarette lighter socket and a small docking station. During charging, the docking station is highlighted in a pleasant lilac color.

In order to wear the headset on the ear, it is not at all necessary to use the bow, since the earphone weighs only 9 grams, and the set comes with 3 earpads of different sizes. Today, this feature is widespread among ultra-compact wireless headsets.

The standard control consists of a call answering key and two volume buttons. The buttons are located along the body and are separated from each other so that they can be used by touch. Plantronics Voyager 510

At first glance, you might think that a headset of this shape is hopelessly outdated and does not deserve a drop of attention, but the Voyager 510 is not at all old-fashioned. Despite the apparent massiveness of the case, the weight of this model is only 15 grams, and the headset itself is conveniently attached to the ear, thanks to the bow with a built-in battery. The headset is designed with a swivel microphone that can be brought closer to the mouth or further away when the conversation is over. There are volume buttons on the body of the accessory, by the way, this model has excellent sound quality and high speaker volume. In addition, the headset can be equipped with a wireless module that connects to a laptop or PC via a USB port, which will allow you to use the headset, for example, to communicate over the Internet.

Motorola HT820

The wireless stereo headset is made in a sporty style. The earbuds are united by a curly bow attached to the back of the head. The mounting system is optimal for both ordinary walks around the city and for cycling, by the way, by design, the HT820 model is more designed for teenagers. The headset can work as a wireless headset and as a regular Bluetooth headset. It is equipped with a built-in amplifier, allows you to adjust the volume and switch songs from the headphone housing, has a built-in microphone and a 120 mAh battery that allows you to work up to 5 hours in continuous music playback mode. The model is compatible with all phones supporting Bluetooth 1.2 technology and A2DP profile. With its dimensions, the weight of the accessory is only 29 grams.

Motorola H601

This headset in a shiny blue casing will perfectly suit the owners of the equally elegant blue clamshell Motorola KRZR K1. Most likely, the accessory was created for this model, although it can be used with absolutely any device. The case material in Motorola Н601 looks the same as in KRZR K1, where tempered glass is used. True, the earhook is made of the most ordinary plastic, and the headset body is visually thick. Perhaps inspired by the really sophisticated look of the KRZR K1 phone, the designers could have created something more sophisticated. However, most users will be satisfied and this, in the end, looks good accessory. Motorola Н601 supports Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR and is able to work autonomously for 8 hours of talk time. As with other headsets, there are call control keys and voice dialing.

Jabra BT125

Initially, wireless headsets were intended primarily for men, that is, motorists by vocation. But given the zeal with which modern girls "saddle iron horses", manufacturers decided to think about them. This is how female headsets appeared, as well as in the style of "unisex". The latter also includes the Jabra BT125, whose smooth curves will surely find a response in the quivering heart of a lady. The accessory is very compact and lightweight, which gives it additional points in the competition. The light weight did not affect the battery life at all - the Jabra BT125 is capable of holding a standard 8 hours of talk time without recharging, the full charge time is about an hour. In the arsenal of the manufacturer there is also a special car charger for headsets, which is powered by a cigarette lighter. The headset is “friendly” with Bluetooth-profiles Headset / Hands-Free and is equipped with functions of voice dialing, call waiting, last number redial, etc.

Nokia BH-302

By the manufacturer, this headset was conceived specifically for use in the phones of the Lamour Collection line: it suits them both in color and in conceptual content. If you are a sophisticated esthete and just hate gruff high-tech motives, but need a Bluetooth headset, then this is just what you need. The effect of the accessory will be equivalent to an earring in the ear or other jewelry, in any case, even an ignorant contingent will not confuse the device with a hearing aid. At the same time, the functionality of the headset fully meets the requirements of our time. Nokia BH-302 is equipped with a Bluetooth 2.0 radio chip with EDR, and a built-in 140 mAh battery provides up to 10 hours of continuous talk. In everyday use, the headset works without recharging for about three days, depending on the volume of calls. It contains buttons that adjust the volume, as well as call and end buttons. Voice dialing was also necessary, so the user can dial numbers from the address book without taking the phone out of his pocket.

Logitech Mobile Express

Despite the word Express in the name, the basic version of this typeface is not particularly expressive. On the contrary, the device has a strict shape, which is emphasized by sharp corners and clear edges. The dimensions of the headset are rather big, but at the same time it is very comfortable to use it, and thanks to the powerful ear-hook, it will not fly off you at the most inopportune moment. Logitech Mobile Express is made of black plastic with a Soft Touch surface, in the middle there is a triangular glossy insert. The manufacturer has implemented the Bluetooth 1.2 technology here, but judging objectively, we see no real benefit from Bluetooth 2.0 in headsets that are used for conversation and do not need voice transmission in stereo mode. An interesting feature of the Logitech Mobile Express is the ability to customize the mount to fit any ear shape. This is extremely convenient because it is not easy to find the perfect accessory for each user.

The accessory is also equipped with an autonomous charging system that allows you to recharge the headset from AAA batteries - a real paradise for travelers. The device weighs only 9 grams, despite the fact that it looks like its body is not small at all. It is curious that the gadget can be used with or without a behind-the-ear mount. There are several options for a headset earphone, and choosing the most comfortable size is not difficult. The headset has Bluetooth 2.0 support and two working profiles. The ideal buyer for this stylish piece is a serious businessman or manager who spends a lot of time on business trips.
