WHY THE DVD DRIVE WON'T WRITE DISCS, why the drive does not write well or does not write

Mechanical failures are among the main causes of drive failures. Experts note that such breakdowns account for almost 80% of the total number of malfunctions. In this case, most often CD / DVD drives fail due to contamination of the moving parts of this mechanism and due to dust that accumulates on the optical parts.

To begin with, of course, you should clean the computer from dust as a whole, but you can only clean the drive. So, for separate cleaning, you need to pull out the tray, after which the front panel is removed and the inside of the drive is blown out with a vacuum cleaner. By the way, the vacuum cleaner must be configured to blow out dust, if not, strong blowing will also work.

If, after cleaning, the drive still does not write discs, then the problem may lie in a dead laser diode, which could have happened as a result of prolonged use. Sometimes this problem is solved by adjusting the power regulator. Let's clarify that the variable resistance is located on the head. Note that recording itself requires more power than playback.

Some try to tweak the building resistance, focusing only on the eye on the degree of rotation of the resistor. Sometimes this can help in solving the problem, but you can wind it up so that the laser fails, the minimum resistance of which is 80 ohms.

In the event that, nevertheless, you intend to increase the laser power, you need a "workshop", preferably a digital one. First you need to measure the resistance of the variable resistor located on the head. For example, if it is within one kOhm, then turn the resistance of the resistor down to about 800 Ohm. This often helps, but there is no 100% guarantee. Meanwhile, do not get carried away with reducing resistance. This can damage the laser. As is clear from the above, if you are not sure of your capabilities and do not have the proper technical knowledge, it is better not to touch the drive at all.

Note that the prices for modern drives have been decreasing lately, and even without a decrease they keep at a very affordable price level. Professional repairs, on the other hand, can be even more expensive than buying a new drive.
