Amazon Kindle Touch Review

Today we will consider another novelty from the American manufacturer Amazon, namely the Amazon Kindle Touch e-book. The manufacturer decided to pleasantly surprise its customers. This time, not just removing the unnecessary keyboard from the reader, but also adding a touchscreen display.

Contents of delivery.

The scope of delivery is, as usual, very modest. This is a cardboard box, a USB cable and a quick guide.

Appearance.

Externally, the new reader is very similar to its predecessor Amazon Kindle 4, but it is somewhat larger, and almost devoid of mechanical keys. Amazon Kindle Touch is made of very high quality rubberized plastic. Physical dimensions are 172 x 120 x 10.1 mm, weight is 213 grams. At the bottom there is a power button, speaker slots, a headphone and miniUSB jack.

Display.

The diagonal of the display is six inches with a resolution of 600 x 800 pixels. The touch screen is made using E-Ink Pearl technology. The sensor is sensitive enough that it is very easy to operate the reader.

Control.

As mentioned above, the controls are mostly touch-based. The only key on the front is the Home key. It is made in the form of four rubber strips. All other actions with the reader occur by touching the display.

Memory and nutrition.

The device is equipped with 4 GB of internal memory, of which a little more than three are available to the user. There is no room for expansion, but this is quite enough to store a huge library and several hundred music files. After a full charge, the reader can operate on battery power for about two months, provided that you do not use WI-FI. So you can safely take him on trips without worrying about the fact that he will stop working.

Functions.

The book is equipped with a built-in WI-FI module and an MP3 player. When you first turn on the book, you can register on the official Amazon website. This will give you the ability to shop from the Amazon online store and create book collections. I would like to note that in the case of registration, advertising starts to be displayed automatically. It is visible only in sleep mode, and does not interfere with reading. In principle, it is quite possible to use the book without registration. The reader's browser is quite good. With its help, you can not only make purchases of books, but also travel on the World Wide Web.

Reading.

The following formats are supported: Kindle (AZW), TXT, PDF, Audible (Audible Enhanced (AA, AAX)), DOC, DOCX, MOBI, MP3 music, typical photo formats. The read function is fully implemented in MOBI and TXT formats, DOC and DOCX will have to be converted. Reading PDF is no different from similar devices. There is an increase in individual sections of the text, so that if necessary, you can read. When reading, four options are available for the orientation of the screen of the book, several font sizes and line spacing. To flip, you need to swipe left or right across the screen. It is very responsive, so the feature is handy. The ability to leave bookmarks and notes is available. It is possible to call the virtual keyboard, but it is only in English.

Conclusions.

The Amazon Kindle Touch is a great book reader, especially for those who are used to touchscreen displays. In my opinion, there are still not enough mechanical buttons for scrolling. But this is my subjective opinion. Overall, the book is excellent. If you choose a device purely for reading and listening to audio books, then this is the best choice.
