You can sort your saved contacts by first or last name. You can combine certain contacts into groups, each of which can be assigned its own melody, the same contact can be added to several different groups. When searching for a contact, after entering the first letters, the screen displays those contacts in which these letters appear at the beginning of the first or last name. If you entered something incorrectly and did not find the contact you need, then you can delete and re-enter it will search again, everything is very simple and easy to use. Also, the search is carried out not only in Russian, but also in English. If a contact is assigned several phone numbers, then it is not displayed in the general list, for this you need to open the contact, after which you will see all numbers assigned to it. Phone numbers can be saved both in the phone and on the "flash drive", keeping all contacts in the archive.
Call log
When you call a contact to which a picture is assigned, it is displayed on the whole screen, and already during the conversation itself it is slightly reduced.
There is nothing new in this menu item, all the same tabs: missed, received and dialed numbers. You can see the duration of your calls and the amount of data while using the Internet. All information about sent and received calls, messages, Internet data is stored for the last 30 days and is available for viewing. In the settings, you can turn on the display of the call duration and the total call time after the end of the call. To enter the log, simply press the call key or select the desired section in the main menu. You can add a new number either to an existing contact or create a new one.
On eight virtual keys, you can set up a frequently used contact for quick calls. If a picture is set on the selected contact, it will be visible in a separate window. In order to mute the sound of an incoming call, you just need to turn the phone face down. Unfortunately, the problem with displaying the types of various numbers: home, mobile, work, remains unresolved, because after the call they are all displayed as mobile.
When dialing a number, the phone picks up and displays similar numbers, both by numbers and by name. When you press, for example, 2, the phone will display numbers that start with two and those that begin with letters that are on this button, both Russian and English. Therefore, even when you press two digits, the phone practically gives out the desired number, which is very practical, fast and convenient.
Posts
This menu item stores all text and multimedia messages sent and received by you, as well as files received via Bluetooth from other devices. Messages can be viewed both in the form of a dialogue, while the total number of messages for a specific subscriber is visible, and in the general list. You can delete both the entire dialogue for a separate contact, and a specific SMS, but this is done in the general list of messages. For writing a message, you can set the small, regular or large font.
When you add some multimedia data to a text message, it automatically becomes an MMS message. When you receive files via Bluetooth, they are automatically saved in a separate folder, you can find them in the file manager.
Unfortunately, the device cannot remember the last numbers of subscribers with whom you corresponded in order to quickly send to the last one used, this is available only in Series 40 models. There are many different animated emoticons.
Sent messages are saved in an amount of no more than 999 pieces, but received messages can be saved in unlimited quantities.
The mail application is placed differently from the previous models in the message section of this smartphone, it is located in a different place, you can place a widget on the desktop that will notify you of a new letter.
When you first start the mail application, it provides you to create a new email address or enter an existing one, you can create several mail addresses. You can set up automatic downloading of letters while setting the intervals after which communication with your mail server will be carried out to update information about new letters. The download of letters can be limited so that only the header is downloaded, or you can set it to download the entire message along with the attached files.
The letter you received contains information about the name of the sender, the date and time of sending, as well as the subject of the letter. You can set the sorting of received letters according to one of the available criteria: Subject, date, sender, severity, unread, presence of attachments. At the top is the name of your mailbox. If there are more than two of them, then you can select the one you need and see in it received, sent letters, draft and outgoing. When you create a new letter, you can add files stored in your smartphone to it.
There is support for Mail for Exchange, Nokia Messaging, the mail client works just fine. It supports downloading files attached to the letters you received, among the formats for downloading are available: .doc, .xls, .ppt, .pdf, .zip.
Entering text
To enter text, you can use the usual method, when there are several letters on one button, this method is identical to that used in all standard mechanical keyboards to enter the desired letter, you need to press the virtual button several times until the desired letter is displayed. You can also use the T9 method, but there was a hitch here, since the phone starts a little with this input method, slows down and does not have time to display the necessary letters, as a result of which many errors arise. In short, with the help of T9 you will not be able to type a message very quickly, but with the usual everything works, without any "glitches".
Another option for entering text is to use a full-fledged QWERTY keyboard, which is displayed in a horizontal position almost on the entire screen; it is very easy to use even when typing a large amount of text. The letters printed on the virtual keyboard are quite large, they are very clearly visible. It is very practical to place two arrow keys between them there is a space bar, these two keys are used to go to the place where you made a mistake, in order to fix it it is much more convenient than clicking on the screen getting to the right place.
Unfortunately, the smartphone lacks a mini-QWERTY keyboard, which in some moments, when you do not need to turn the phone over, but you just need to quickly type the desired text. But soon this will be fixed, there are already photos and messages about this update on the Internet.
Also in Symbian ^ 1 there is a problem when changing input languages, for this you need to make several clicks, since there is no separate button for this. This problem will soon be sorted out, as they plan to insert another virtual button into the QWERTY keyboard, for quick and convenient switching of the input language.
Camera
The smartphone has an eight-megapixel CMOS camera with a diode flash, but, unfortunately, it lacks autofocus without a protective shutter. When shooting, it is better to wipe the camera lens every time, because when talking, almost always the index finger lies exactly in the recess for the camera. In order to activate the camera, you can go to the main menu and there click on the camera shortcut or on the button on the side of the C6-01. When you turn on the camera, it starts up very quickly, just as quickly the pictures taken by you are saved both in the memory of the device and on the memory card. On the sides of the viewfinder are some of the main camera settings, all the rest are available after pressing the function button.

I tried to photograph a document for the test, it turned out very badly, with great effort you can only look at something. When shooting in normal mode in good lighting, good photos come out, of course, they are slightly worse in quality than the N8, but in principle the C6-02 was not declared as a cameraphone, therefore, for me, the camera is quite enough to take good pictures.
With the help of C6-01, you can record video clips with a maximum quality of 1280x720 at 25 frames per second. There is a possibility of video recording in other extensions: 640x480 and 176x144.
Gallery
The gallery is represented by several folders. All photos and videos are saved in this folder, but in another folder you have the ability to add various information to the files. There is a separate album in which only pictures taken with the camera are saved. Moving around the gallery is fast enough, it is possible to set the display of pictures in the form of a 3x5 or 5x3 preview, it depends on the position of the phone in the open space. The C6-01 has a multitouch function, to enlarge a photo, the function works perfectly, without any jerks, the magnification is very smooth. Swiping images also works without delay. When viewing a photo, you can send it via E-mail or Bluetooth, as well as MMS.
There is a possibility of viewing a slideshow, in which you can set a melody for accompaniment and set the interval for turning images. A fairly functional photo editor is installed.
The calendar
The calendar displays events for the day, week and month. Separately, you can view the tasks you need. When creating an event, you can select its type: business, anniversary or meeting. For events, you can set the place, time, date, and also set a specific sound, as well as put a signal that will warn you that one of the events will soon be. You can also set a repeat for that event, which, for example, every day, on weekends or working days, monthly or annually.
Before a new recording, you can add an image, sound or video, a note, or some other file. The display of the calendar is set both by default and, for example, from which day the week will start, there are other functions.
File Manager
Here you can see the amount of memory on your smartphone and memory card, if installed.The manager supports all standard functions, including: moving, renaming, creating a folder and copying. All information can be sorted according to several available criteria.
Browser
The Nokia C6-01 has the same browser that was used in the previous generation devices. The installed browser has all the necessary functions for convenient surfing the web: multitouch for "zooming" Internet pages, kinetic scrolling, you can use the word search on this page. The history of your transitions between pages is saved when you click on the link, a new window opens, since the browser has a multi-window mode. There is support for Flash, you can watch videos directly in the browser of your smartphone from YouTube.
The browser works fine both when using 3G networks and when connected via Wi-Fi. When the picture is zoomed in quickly, the browser slows down a little and thus consumes a lot of traffic.
But do not be upset, because here the Nokia company is also not standing still and is gradually improving all the functions, as well as work is underway to create a new browser. At the moment, the standard browser from Nokia is very outdated by the more powerful browsers that are installed in the Android and iOS operating systems. Although it works not badly, it is still not very convenient to use it. It is not very practical to use C6-01 as the main source for surfing the Internet, but in order to just go in from time to time and see the necessary information, it will do.
Navigation
A GPS module is installed in Nokia S6-01, for the use of which there is a proprietary application Ovi Maps 3.04. The good news is that the company provides navigation services for free, you only have to pay for the traffic used, the program supports the installation of updates, and there are also voice prompts. GPS together with A-GPS work well, coordinates are determined very quickly, positioning is quite accurate.

There are several playlists already installed. When adding new files, you need to manually update the player's library, since before that they will not be displayed, but in the player. In the landscape view, the picture of the album is displayed, when you select one of the albums, the others go into the background, as it were. All the player's functions work well, responds to pressing quickly enough. The player has a nice animation that is similar to the cover flow system used in Apple devices.
When viewing the list vertically, the display shows the file itself, cover art, author, album and song title. A long press on a file opens a window with the following options: start playback, delete a file, add to a playlist or find it in the Music Store. In order to start playing the selected track, just click on the desired file.
When you click on any song, the following menu will open on the screen, the picture of the album will be displayed here, which will take 1/3 of the screen, the artist's name and the album name will be visible above the picture of the album, and the entire list of tracks will be visible below. To start playback, you need to click on the line with the file, after which an even larger cover will appear on the screen, you will also see the total time of the song and that which is left until the end, the name of the song, the artist and the number of the song. For listening, you can set the repeat or shuffle mode.
The good news is that when the screen is locked, you can adjust the volume.There are three virtual buttons to control track playback: playback, pause, forward, backward. There is a progressive song rewind. The player has five preset equalizer modes, which, unfortunately, cannot be changed and there is no possibility to create your own. You can adjust balance, stereo widening and loudness.
When the player is minimized, you can use the background mode, which works with a widget displayed on the screen, it contains the following information: album cover, track name, there are buttons to switch. You can set a song title to appear on the locked display.
Supported formats: MP3, eAAC +, AMR-NB, WMA, AAC, eAAC, AMR-WB. The sound is completely identical to the N8.
Nokia S6-01 produces sound as good as for a mobile phone. The initial volume of the smartphone is slightly higher than the one taken for comparison with the iPod, so it is illogical to compare the amount of sound at similar settings. After a detailed study of the features of the installed C6-01 audio player, we can conclude that, nevertheless, mobile phones still cannot be put on a par with devices that are specially made for listening to music. But, at the same time, when listening to music using high-quality headphones, the difference between playing these two devices decreases. It is unlikely that the owners of C6-01 will undertake the selection of high-quality "plugs"; complete ones, which are quite good, will also do. If we take the mass market, then only a small percentage of mobile phone buyers are looking for high-quality sound, so we can safely say that the audio part of the C6-01 will receive the well-earned approval of the audience.
Radio
The built-in radio receiver operates in the following frequencies: 87.5-108 MHz. You can save a couple of dozen frequently listened to stations, the reception in the city is very high quality, there is practically no interference, there is RDS support. When storing a radio station in the device's memory, you can sign it as you like or delete unnecessary ones from the list of saved stations. The radio also works in the background, when the frequency of the station being listened to is displayed on the screen. Animation works on the phone screen when listening to the radio, if the display is not locked.
Video
Expressed processing of popular XviD and DivX codecs, and this makes it possible to view unconverted videos on a smartphone. In addition, there is support for H.264, MPEG-4, Real video 10, VC-1, Sorenson Spark. In addition to the fact that videos are saved in the general gallery with photos as previews, there is a special application for video files. During testing, I tried to play video files of various sizes, but, unfortunately, there were still problems, some videos did not play at all, so there are still some unresolved problems with codecs. Among the playable formats, MKV is declared, with which the most problems arose. With the most popular AVI format, no problems arose, which makes many people very happy, I think. But there is also a minus is that the C6-01 does not support AC3, as a result of which some videos may be missing video.
When watching movies in which the picture is not as wide as the screen, you can adjust it, but this affects the playback quality. When watching a video, buttons for controlling playback and a bar about the length of the movie are displayed on the screen. It's bad that when you close the player, there is no function to save the last viewing location, and therefore, when you reopen the same file, you will have to look for the moment at which you finished watching the previous time.
To watch YouTube videos, you need to go into a browser, but a special application has already been created for this, which I think will already be installed in the following models.
With the help of the video editor, you can create your own clips from the video and photo files you shot on the camera, while there is also the ability to add text, music and other interesting effects to the created clip.
Settings
Entering this section of the menu, you can configure various parameters of your smartphone: language settings, sound, network connection and many others. A new feature that is available in all the latest models of the company is that when you flip the phone, you can turn on the silent mode for an incoming call or turn off the alarm. Also in С6-01 there is the possibility of voice control of the phone, you can configure the operation of the network indicator.
The phone already has six installed profiles that you can edit as you wish or create your own. You can set the time at which the profile you have set will be activated, and when this time ends, the smartphone will automatically change the profile to another one that is set by default.
