  • Appearance. Control elements

The smartphone is made of plastic. The gadget looks stylish and compact. The design is similar to older models such as the Desire 600 and Desire 700.

On the front panel, in addition to the screen, there are: a camera peephole, an earpiece and two touch-sensitive control buttons. The back surface of HTC Desire 300 has a soft-touch coating that is pleasant to the touch. The traditional functional elements are placed here - the lens of the main camera and the multimedia speaker. Note that there is no flash in this model.

The headphone jack is located on the upper end. To the left of it is the device power / screen lock button. The right side of the case contains an oblong volume rocker, while the left side is empty. The bottom end is reserved for the microUSB connector.

Under the removable cover, there are slots for a microSIM card and a memory card. Both slots are located away from the battery, making hot swappable cards possible.

The physical dimensions of the case are 132x66x10 millimeters, the weight is 120 grams. The dimensions can be called optimal for comfortable use of the device. Desire 300 is comfortable to hold in the hand, while it does not slip thanks to the soft-touch coating.

    Display

HTC Desire 300 has a 4.3-inch WVGA display. The resolution is 480x800 pixels. The display has a large margin of brightness. We were pleased with the natural transmission and rather large viewing angles. Despite the relatively small screen diagonal, the user will not experience any discomfort when watching videos or surfing the Internet.

    Performance. OS

The smartphone has a 2-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with a clock speed of 1 GHz. The negative aspects include the small amount of RAM - only 512 megabytes. Because of this, "brakes" may occur during operation. In particular, the lack of RAM is felt when running two or more applications.

The built-in memory is 4 gigabytes, of which about 2.5 gigabytes is available. With a microSD card, the storage capacity can be expanded up to 64 gigabytes. HTC Desire 300 is not a device for gamers. The outdated Adreno 203 chip is responsible for the graphics here. In the AntuTu Benchmark test, the smartphone scored 7700 points. It must be admitted that the figure is very modest by today's standards. In general, the smartphone will cope with most everyday tasks without any problems. But for games and maximum multitasking, we recommend the HTC One 801e.

The Android operating system version is 4.1 Jelly Bean. Like other HTC smartphones, the Desire 300 uses the Sense 5.0 graphical interface. Of the preinstalled software, it should be noted: Polaris Office, Facebook client, DropBox cloud storage, Google services.

    Battery

The capacity of the rechargeable battery is 1650 mAh. The autonomy of the smartphone is not impressive. Even with an average activity of use, it will have to be charged every day. Well, if you use the device exclusively as a "dialer", the battery life will be 11 hours. The manufacturer also announced a standby time of about 600 hours. However, in practice, this figure is much lower.

    Camera

The front camera has a VGA resolution (640x480 pixels). For Skype video calls, it will be enough. The rear 5-megapixel module is equipped with an autofocus system. In good light, the pictures are of acceptable quality. Unfortunately, you are unlikely to be able to take a picture in the dark. the device does not even have the simplest flash.

The number of settings is small. The user has the opportunity to select the shooting scene, quality, image resolution, ISO sensitivity, white balance. There is a macro mode, although its implementation leaves much to be desired.

Examples of pictures taken with the Desire 300 are shown below:

    Impression

Desire 300 attracts with its design and ergonomics. At the same time, performance, camera and battery are underwhelming. In general, the model is quite interesting for its price segment. The Desire 300 can be recommended to all those who are looking for a solid smartphone at a low price.
