The mobile phone Nokia 7610 Supernova, a brother of the Nokia 7510 model, represents one of the fashion lines. A distinctive feature of the device is its impressive design and good functionality.
It just so happens that Nokia's Supernova line has made a lot of noise. Even 8-megapixel camera phones were less talked about than this line. Most likely, this happened due to the fact that Nokia, having decided to experiment with design, presented consumers with a completely new look at how devices in the middle price category might look like.
All models, despite the price, shape and filling, turned out to be quite good. Mostly it concerns the build quality and appearance. And if you add to all this a relatively low cost, then the result will be a wonderful gift for loved ones or a worthy replacement for an old mobile phone. The success of this mobile series is beyond doubt, especially if you take into account the excellent advertising.
Surprising is the fact that the Finnish company announced the announcement at the moment when the devices have already gone on sale on the Ukrainian market. There were probably reasons for this. Interestingly, this maneuver only increased the interest of a potential buyer.
Nokia 7610 Supernova design
The phone has a slider form factor. The body is made on the basis of plastic parts and metal parts. Both of those and other materials are used in approximately equal quantities. In addition, the body has plastic elements with an amazing mirror finish.
The phone has standard weights and dimensions. Against this background, the thickness of the phone stood out - it is 15 mm. There are no creaks or backlashes between the parts, so the fact of assembly is flawless.
Since this model of the line has a fashion direction, the manufacturer could not leave the case without glossy details. What impressed me here was not the fact of the implementation of these details, but how exactly they are located here. Slightly edged soft block, fully covered with glossy screen. Keys for entering information are made from the same material. Everything else is made of matte plastic. Thanks to this, the phone does not slip out of the user's hand, even after prolonged use. The same cannot be said about the keyboard of the device. You will have to get used to it, as it seems to be not badly thought out, but all the buttons are made of gloss. At first, the fingers will slip, but as you get used to, this problem will not be so significant.
In addition to the keys for entering information and function buttons, on the front of the device there is also a display covered with a thin layer of organic protective and, moreover, a mirror glass. The cover of the display and the lower bezel of the panel are, as it were, recessed into the body of the model. This decision is not entirely clear. In this way, it is impossible to protect the screen from scuffs or scratches. Most likely, this implementation has only design goals and nothing more.
A speaker is located inside the display.
On the back there is a built-in camera of the phone, edged with plastic and glass. Near the peephole is the inscription "3.2 megapixels". And under the peephole you can see an LED flash.
The Nokia logo is in the middle of the back of the phone. The speaker is located opposite the camera's peephole. It's worth noting that both the hands-free speaker and the internal speaker are top notch in sound quality, as no distortion was noticed.
Now let's dwell on the navigation keys and functional connectors located at the ends of the Nokia 7610 Supernova. On the right side there is a double volume rocker, a button for quickly turning on a music player, and a button for launching photo and video camera applications.
On the left, there is only a micro-USB connector for synchronization using a cable of the same standard with another mobile device or computer. The connector is hidden under a tight rubber plug.
On the top edge there is a button to turn off or turn on the phone. In addition, a 2.5 mm headphone jack is also located here, as well as a connector for a charging cord.
On the border of the rear and lower side panels there is a gap that fixes the battery cover fastening mechanism. The battery cover is made in such a way that it covers almost the entire back panel and ends. It is quite easy to insert the lid, but it is quite problematic to remove it.
In order to remove it, you will first have to pry the gap, only then, slightly pressing your finger on the edging of the case, move it. But this procedure is difficult only at the beginning of using the device, then all the difficulties disappear.
The battery under the cover has a capacity of 860 mAh. A full charge of the battery lasts almost three days, provided one hour of talks a day and half an hour of using other functions of the device.
Keypad and display
If you look at the front panel of the phone in the open position, you will notice that the keyboard and the display divide the screen almost equally, leaving only a little space for the internal speaker.
As for the keyboard, here too the impression is twofold. On the one hand, the soft keys and number buttons leave a rather good impression, but despite this, the information input keys just need some time to get used to. Whatever they say, but the sliding on the buttons is quite noticeable.
Things are much better with the navigation joystick and soft buttons. Here, too, the keys are made of glossy plastic, but for some reason the sliding is not so intense.
The display of Nokia 7610 Supernova came out quite well, except for the mirror glass, which successfully leaves streaks and fingerprints on itself.
The rest of the phone's features are top notch. There is a TFT display and 16 million colors, a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, and excellent visibility even in very bright light. So the developers did their best.

The phone menu is pretty standard. There are no cardinal innovations in it. It consists of 9 initially set items, as well as an application containing the operator's menu.
Sub-items have standard content - these are applications, Internet, multimedia, organizer, settings, contacts, messages, magazine, gallery. With the help of the sub-item "Messages" you can receive or send text messages and multimedia messages, as well as e-mail messages.
"Contacts" contains a database of users' phone numbers. The sub-item "log" contains information about calls. It is divided into missed, outgoing and incoming. Call duration counter and SMS and packet data transmission counters are also located here.
In the next sub-item "settings", the groups of different settings are separated by folders.
"Gallery" is divided into sub-items containing music files, images, and the like.
Multimedia organizes access to camera applications, music player, camera application, voice recorder, and so on.
Organizer contains applications such as a calendar, calculator and others.
"Applications" include programs with which you can work on bluetooth.
Communications
Communication skills, as already mentioned, are one of the main advantages of the Nokia 7610 Supernova.
First of all, I would like to draw your attention to the MMC application, with the help of which it became possible to send photo files and small-sized multimedia files, while it remains possible to edit them on the spot.
The "E-mail" section allows you to receive and send letters containing various attachments.
The Internet browser in this phone works on the basis of GPRS and EDGE technologies.
Data transmission module - Bluetooth (A2DP technology) receives and transmits data at a speed of 2.0. The device can also be used as a modem for a PC that is not connected to the Internet. But this feature is inherent in almost all modern phones.
Opera Mini browser, located in one of the sections, will provide a comfortable work of the mobile Internet.
Media
The set of multimedia applications came out not bad, and the first thing that deserves attention is the "multimedia" section, where the application center is located. From here, you can access your radio, player, voice recorder, and so on.
In general, the set of settings for each application is quite simple and intuitive, it does not take much time to master it
The Applications sub-section contains a very interesting application called WidSets. This is Nokia's dedicated service for posting content on the Internet.
Camera and its features
The Nokia 7610 Supernova has a 3.2-megapixel camera that takes photos and records videos. You can make recordings, both without sound, and with it.

The dominant positive qualities of the Nokia 7610 Supernova slider are an interestingly designed keyboard, an excellent set of media and communication applications, and a decent build quality.
The negative aspect of this model is the excessive soiling of some elements of the case.
