Audiotec Fischer acoustics: a success story !!!

At the beginning of 1979, the foundation of a promising company (firm) was formed in Germany, which was able to make a colossal revolution in the field of audio, this is "Fischer und Fischer". This company, named after the two Fisher brothers (this was the most common surname at that time), it was this new, unknown brand that became the foundation of colossal changes in the whole world of modern car electronics.

At that time, the young, but very promising Fisher brothers knew exactly what their new company should do. And after receiving official permission from the relevant authorities to conduct their own activities, they immediately managed to release the speaker system. The body of this woofer was completely made of a special slate monolith (this is a very expensive material, from which they used to make very expensive billiard tables). Such a decision of the brothers to release this particular product first was completely no coincidence. One of the brothers, founders of this company - Heinz - had been fond of audio engineering for a very long time, but had absolutely no commercial benefit under his hobby. It was a simple hobby, but soon, when he made an excellent speaker system on his own, it grew into something more. The brother was also supported by the second Fisher - his name was Thomas, he turned out to be the usual namesake of our inventor. He provided and equipped a special room for Heinz, where he could fully devote himself to the creation of new audio equipment. It was in this way that a very good tandem turned out from the Fischer brothers: Fischer Heinz took over the entire technical side of manufacturing, and at the same time Fischer Thomas was in full control of the entire commercial part of the enterprise. The results of this joint activity have already brought the first results: after just two years, acoustics from Fischer und Fischer were already presented at one of the world trade fairs in Berlin. And after just five efforts and many modifications to the acoustics, the Fischers have already received the very prestigious "Audio Design Prize" and, in addition, huge recognition of their products as the best "product of the year" in Germany.

It was this success of the brothers that was supported by their very great popularity. The most senior officials and celebrities were interested in these products. For example, immediately after receiving his awards, the famous Helmut Kohl, who is also the Federal Chancellor, wanted to test and listen to the acoustics created by the Fischers. After this listening, many ministers installed these speakers (Fischer & Fischer) in their offices.

Already in this favorable period, the Fisher brothers come to the main conclusion that it would be very nice to create such a beautiful sound not somewhere else, in another place, and they chose a car. It was to this fantastically correct idea that they were led by a very high interest from all buyers of these amplifiers and acoustics. The brothers didn't know much about car parts. Heinz nevertheless got carried away with this fantastic idea and immediately realized the main thing that the main obstacle to creating high-quality sound in a car would be the correct location of the acoustics in the body. Already a new puzzle stood on the way to this dream, but I had to do everything myself, since the second brother abandoned this idea. He considered it an impossible task and very risky.

Heinz Fischer is completely alone with his fantastic idea. On this basis, he founded a completely new company, which he called - Audiotec Fischer. Now all the financial affairs of the new firm were handled by his wife. From that moment on, it became a full-fledged family business.Fischer's wife was called Gudrun - she perfectly understood her husband and helped him in everything. She had a professional look at all of her spouse's new products.

Previously, Fischer was fully engaged in various acoustics and amplifiers, but the first product of his new company was, oddly enough, a buffer capacitor. Fischer had his own reasons for this. The fact is that by the end of the 80s, there were already some trends in the design and selection of amplifiers. But the potential of this technique was not fully used, which led to very significant losses in sound quality, plus there were distortions. Our inventor decided to try a special buffer source for power supply as the main amplifier; it is made in the form of a special capacitor of rather large capacity. There were no such devices in those days.

As for Audiotec Fischer capacitors, they are not completely similar to modern capacitors, and then they were called differently. Special "power stabilizers" entered the market; they were produced in special rectangular cases. It was this first product that revived the BRAX trademark.

The emergence of this new brand on the market was quite spontaneous. Due to the increase in the volume of the main production, Heinz had very little time for his hobby. His other hobby was bass guitar. At the rehearsal, he confessed to his group that he had problems with the name of his new inventions. At that moment his phone rang, he began to talk and was drawing something on a piece of paper. It was in this "art" that Fischer saw a unique word, which later became the main name of his brand - "Brax".

For a very long time, BRAX was the only manufacturer of such capacitors in the world. Later, after a few years, Americans began to produce similar power stabilizers. But Fischer's company was up to the mark. Back in 1993, there was a car audio competition where many speaker professionals took part. Analysts calculated that of the 103 vehicles that participated, 98 vehicles were equipped with "stabilizers" from the BRAX PST brand. It was in this year that the brand received the most prestigious European award: the innovation prize from the ECAP (European Car Audio Press) association. A very stylish award.

All inventions of the already famous Fischer completely became a colossal breakthrough all over the world. The inventor can be completely proud of: Firstly, it was his hand in the creation of a large-capacity capacitor, it is completely safe in operation, both for the device itself and for its full-fledged owner. There are "smart" capacitors (these are smart caps), they can independently be charged with a small current at the first connection to the network. They have a special sensor that monitors the voltage and turns off the system in case of load.

Secondly, the creation of this design completely allowed us to provide our amplifier with a very low internal resistance of the main power source. This is exactly what became possible due to the special design of a very non-standard design of all plates. In his capacitors, Fischer used a new technology in which all plates are completely cut into sections. All previously made capacitors were made from the middle of a roll of foil.

The new Helix line has already been released as a budget option. The name was chosen spontaneously for this brand.

Fischer borrowed this method from one of his own early inventions of the house - the spiral damping supports on the speakers. It is important to remember that Helix stands for the term "spiral". As for the external similarity of this name with the usual name of a special motor oil, the Helix brand from Shell did not bother him at all.

For seven whole years of rather successful work, at a time when Gudrun was engaged in calculating profits, inventor Heinz was still thinking about a new creation, this time it was a super-class car amplifier.The very first amplifier from BRAX was introduced in 1996. The price was not small, but fully justified. The power of such an amplifier was truly incredible. Fischer made a 12V device, later redesigned it to be more demanding. Outwardly, this power supply for the BRAX amplifier is quite different: in this case, for special transformers, orders come with a special magnetic core made of very strong amorphous steel. This apparatus has two turns and has very good magnets. We are talking about a nominal power of 2 x 100 W, which is calculated as much as 1.5 kW! The fact is that this is the philosophy of building all amplifiers from Brax. Very powerful special field-effect transistors must go through a unique sorting according to the current of a special cutoff with a good breakdown into even 100 groups. This means that each amplifier is unique, and devices from different groups cannot be found, even if they are neighbors in the construction.

Heinz practically always supported absolutely all conceived and ideas with practice. And I have always achieved positive results! Very often he conducted research, demonstrating to others the whole essence of the work.

This is exactly the story of the creation and development of these brands, which were born absolutely spontaneously, and without which we now cannot imagine life. At the very beginning of his career, Heinz interested his customers in the universal amplifiers from BRAX. Then he took up the creation of much simpler and very affordable devices from Helix in the price category. These devices were very well thought out, and almost in no way inferior to their predecessors.

Today, the company of the inventor Fischer continues to delight gourmets with high-quality and LOUD music. She is one of the monopolists in the car electronics market. This company has a very large number of awards and certificates. In 2005, for example, Audiotec Fischer received a very promising certification that complies with DIN EN ISO 9001-2000. I think this is a very strong confirmation of the high quality and popular products from Helix.
