HOW TO CATCH CARP - how to catch crucian carp in winter, spring, summer and autumn

The best time to fish is in the evening and morning dawns. In summer, large crucian carp often takes before dark, after sunset. At this time, serious specimens come across! Sometimes you catch more in 20-30 minutes than in the whole day! The best places for fishing with a float rod near reeds with underwater thickets of "moss" or "nettles" can not be found. Feed such a place with compound feed, cake or boiled peas, and crucian carp will certainly do.

How to catch crucian carp correctly

It is preferable to catch from the bottom:

  • fishing line 0.25-0.3 mm;
  • leash 0.15-0.2;
  • hook number 4-6.

Take the float light, "hypersensitive", with a small sinker 3-4 cm from the hook, and the main sinker 20-30 cm from the hook. Most often, the bite of the crucian carp is confident - one, two samples of the nozzle, and he swallows it, trying to drag it towards the burrow. When fishing from the bottom, when the worm is not long, you should hook immediately after lifting the float or quickly count up to three in your head and hook.

Crucian carp is a capricious fish. Even in the lake, where there are a great many of them, you can lose your catch with a sharp change in the weather, and sometimes even a few days before this very change. It seems that yesterday, in the same weather, a full cage was filled before lunchtime, but now the fish seems to have died out, and only the direction of the wind and the mood have changed, but the crucian lay down ... begins to take like a madman.

Or, on the contrary, - a day off, warm weather, sun, complete calm! You sit in the boat, the place is lured, the worms are nimble - beauty. And he, the enemy, does not want to take! But in the second half of the day, a strong wind rises, in which the floats are not visible and tears off the anchors, and the water acquires a black color under the sun. Count to three, blindly hook, and there is a crucian carp! Say what you like, but in a crucian carp hunt, it pleases that it bites, does not bite, and there will be fish in the pan, in extreme cases, even though the cat will be satisfied.

How to catch crucian carp in winter

Catching crucian carp in winter is still a pleasure! It is caught from the first ice to January. Worse in February, but also bites. In March and before the opening of the reservoirs, it also takes not bad, and sometimes even very good! Wonderful fishing is obtained in moments of prolonged thaws - when the sun warms up.

Whether it will be possible to catch a crucian carp in a pond in winter depends on many factors. According to our observations, it is caught in reservoirs with a sandy or muddy bottom. And so that a predatory fish must live there. In places where the bottom is muddy or peaty, crucian carp are not caught. Except if he does not lie in the settled grass and silt, but walks in flocks right under the ice.

It is easier to catch a crucian carp in winter with a winter fishing rod with a float or with a jig. Use a thinner line and a smaller hook. On a 0.12 mm line with hook No. 2.5, you can take crucian carp weighing up to a kilogram. The softer the tackle, the more bites - this is a winter axiom. Adjust the float tackle for a slow sinking of the float, place the load light. Sometimes the float is replaced with a long plastic or metal nod with a large travel sector. The main condition is that the fish should not feel the mass of the load and the hook, which is compensated by the lifting force of the nod or float.

Among the jigs, the most catchy are: a black ant, a pellet with a diameter of 4 mm, a small "lenticular". It would be nice to adjust the jig on a long nod and lay it so that it only touches the bottom with a hook with a baited bloodworm, and does not rest on it. Try to lift it 1 to 2 centimeters from the bottom. Sometimes the crucian takes to the "game". So wiggle the jig, and take bloodworms as bait.

They say that the crucian carp is also caught on the "naked" ant, but we never came across it. Choose a place for fishing in wintering pits, drawing conclusions from the characteristics of the reservoir. If you find even a small edge 15-20 centimeters in size or an underwater twig, in such a place a crucian carp, like a silver medal, will be your reward.

How to catch crucian carp in spring

In the spring, as soon as the lakes and ponds are free of ice, somewhere from the 10th of April, spring fishing for crucian carp begins. At this time, reservoirs are transparent as tears. At the bottom, the first algae wake up, the water is saturated with oxygen, small living creatures revive to splash in the sun. Crucian carp, barely recovered after winter, actively eats young algae and frolicking insects.

It is better not to fish with a float rod at this time. Because of the clear water and no vegetation cover, the crucian carp tends to stay away from the coast. Of course, you can try to catch from a boat, but the result will still not be important.

Another thing is to catch with the "rubber band". This tackle has taken root in our reservoirs. It consists of:

  • from a load tied to a short piece of rope, which is attached to a rope of model aircraft rubber with a length of 5 to 20 meters;
  • from a 3-to-5-meter piece of fishing line with 5-7 leads, 15 to 30 cm long and hooks No. 5-7, connected through a carbine and winding rings;
  • from the main line 0.4-0.5 mm;
  • from the usual shallow spinning rod with a reel (this is very convenient when fishing from a boat) or a board for winding fishing line.

The cargo is thrown from the shore or delivered by boat to the distance that the elastic can withstand. In the future, the tackle works like an elevator: into the water - bait, to the shore - fish.

10 centimeters of elastic is stretched to a maximum of 1 meter, but when the tension is strong, it is not very convenient to bait the hooks. Rubber wears out quickly. For reservoirs with stagnant water, it is better to count 1 meter of rubber for 5 meters of line. It is not difficult to calculate that in order to cast leashes with hooks at 40-50 meters, you need to use 10 meters of rubber and a 300-400-gram lead. A foam float is tied to it on a thick fishing line to make it easier to remove it from silt and algae.

It is best to catch a crucian carp with such a tackle in the spring. It is good to wait for him in shallow and open areas of water bodies, he comes here to bask and feed. And also along the places with the remains of last year's underwater flora, where young sprouts of algae germinate. In any case, in those places where the fish does not allow it to reach 15-20 meters, the catch will be provided.

For bait, take earthworms and dung worms, the crucian carp wants meat at this time! It is better not to use bait or to limit it to cake in small doses. It is a good idea to pour 5-6 handfuls of humus poured out by worms at the location of the hooks. It is clear that this is easier to do only if you have a boat. If it is not there, throw the load from the shore. Unhook the leash with hooks by temporarily winding it around a piece of styrofoam. In this case, the load will have to be picked up so that it can be pulled out of the water without tearing the rubber. Some anglers attach an additional safety line to the load parallel to the elastic. It helps if there are no branches on the shore.

In spring, exceptionally large crucian carp is caught. So, once you get caught, be prepared to prove to skeptics that your fish is not from the store. The worm must be nimble and lively. If the crucian lazily sucks on it and breaks off the ends, then grab the tails. The bites at this time are very sluggish, so after a slight stirring of the fishing line hanging freely in the water, immediately make a sweep. Large individuals walk freely on the "rubber band", she herself extinguishes any of their antics. But keep in mind that the lips of this fish are not at all strong, and it would not hurt to take the catch with a landing net, and before that give a breath of fresh air.

After two to three weeks, the open water intake gradually subsides. By the end of April, large individuals settle in the thickets of reeds to feast on young roots and duckweed there. You can notice their accumulation on a sunny quiet day:

  • on the wiggling reeds of reeds, where the babies feed between the stalks;
  • and chomping in creeks with accumulation of duckweed.

In such places, crucian carp will soon begin to spawn. Here it is better to catch it with a float rod at a shallow depth, carefully lowering the worm under the duckweed between the reeds.

It is preferable to fish in boots, with a fishing rod without a reel and with the shortest (up to 1 meter) line length, periodically slightly moving the tackle. Try even without a float. Move the weight 5 centimeters to the hook - in a plumb line. Punch through a layer of duckweed and wiggle the nozzle under it. Crucian carp grabs her instantly. Lift it up quickly so as not to scare away the fish. Duckweed prevents the crucian carp from seeing, so sometimes they are caught right at their feet.

When the sun warms up, the reeds are drawn towards the light, so the water warms up. We guarantee that on one of these fine days you will find yourself on a “picnic in a madhouse”. Imagine this picture: daybreak, abundant dew gurgling under your feet, floats froze, wait, sir ... But as soon as the sun rises, flocks of deaf and dumb crucians, who have come from nowhere, will begin to storm the coastal strip. After 10-15 minutes, there will be no trace of your sedate appearance and peace of mind.

  • Rolling up your trousers, you will run with a fishing rod along the coast, throwing it under any moving bush.
  • And these impudent creatures, not paying attention to your efforts and delicacies.
  • The fish will spank, jump, slurp and wiggle everything in the water.

Unbalanced anglers are better off immediately reeling in their rods and getting away quickly. And let the persistent run around and be sophisticated in inventions and tricks. The catch will be so-so - a couple of crucians, no more.

Crucian carp spawns for 3 days and up to a week - depending on the weather, depth and characteristics of the reservoir. Spawning occurs at the beginning of May. And then, for 2 weeks, the crucian carp is sick. Small or spawned will be caught.

How to catch crucian carp in summer

From the second half of May to the end of August - the golden time to catch crucian carp with a fishing rod in the summer. During this period, the bite is constant in the mornings and evenings, with a break at lunchtime. Pecks until 10-11 o'clock in the afternoon, and from 16-17 o'clock before dark. Sometimes fishing is delayed until 23.00 in the light of lighting fixtures or car headlights. For such cases, it does not hurt to stock up on a second battery.

Large specimens are often caught on a float rod in the early morning, before sunrise, and after sunset. A big carp is caught on a rubber band in shallow lakes. And on the deep ones, it is often the other way around: solid individuals take worse for an elastic band.

The place of your crucian carp hunting must be fed. Oilcake, ground seeds, compound feed, pea or wheat porridge are suitable. Even 2-3 handfuls of raw millet will do. The fish may not eat it, but the very presence of yellow cereal on the muddy soil attracts crucian carp.

The overgrown aquatic vegetation at this time provides abundant food for the crucian carp. Schools of fish graze in the thickets of algae. Often in the heat, crucian meat is so saturated with the smell of "nettles" that then it is impossible to eat it.

You can fish with all of the above nozzles, but the worm is still considered the main one. Sometimes a large crucian carp is lured out from under the thickets with boiled peas, pinning the pea on a hook. In this case, it is also necessary to feed the fishing site with peas, kneading it. It will bite less often, but individuals will be caught much larger than on a worm.

A huge crucian carp is also caught on barley, often even in those reservoirs where they are not caught with this bait, because they are not accustomed. So that's it. He will still be caught there, but you need to feed it with cake and pearl barley. Let him taste it, and later other anglers will envy you. With a strong heating of the pond, liquid semolina will save you, the crucian really loves to feast on it.

Often an annoying problem of water bodies is "blue" - a small and annoying fish. Throw in the bait, and these "piranhas" gather in flocks around the bait.Shred and tear it, the float does not find a place for itself, and the fishermen (and fisherwomen) curse on what the world is worth. In most lakes, she leaves alone the worm that does not fit into her mouth. In search of a way out, you can use an ordinary earthworm. Of course, crucian carp will take worse on it, but your nervous system will suffer much less.

Summer fishing ends in the first half of September. Aquatic vegetation partially subsides, the water cools down, and the crucian carp moves to a depth, from the shore, to the center of the lake.

How to catch crucian carp in the fall

In the second half of September and October, the crucian carp moves away from the shores and actively bites in the "clear water". With the onset of cold weather, the water becomes clearer, and the fish is more careful. This is where the boat comes in. With its help, it will be easier to find the flock in the deep places of the lake. Anchor and feed the fish with peas, cake, porridge, bait the worm - and into battle! After about 10-15 minutes, bubbles will appear on the water at the place of the thrown bait - it was the crucians who came up and started digging the muddy soil.

They are caught at this time of the year from 9-10 am to 16-17 pm.

In autumn, crucian carp, like most carp fish, switches to the daytime diet. More often he takes only at long distances of 10-15 meters, and does not let the angler come closer to him. True, there are cases that it takes right under the boat itself, and then it’s as if "the fighter's hand will get tired of pricking." The "rubber band" will help out, large individuals are caught on it. Gradually, the bite will subside, take crucian carp less and less, weather changes and cold rains will drive it into the "den". It's clear that winter is coming soon.
