Among the phones Samsung still sells popular models of the past. Thanks to their convenient design, these devices are still readily purchased, although functionally they inevitably become obsolete. The phone in question is Samsung GT-S3600, model of 2008. It does not have any impressive characteristics of modern devices and, nevertheless, was very popular in the year of production, and even now it is still known and is eagerly purchased by customers. The phone belongs to the "Slim and Stylish" line, and, probably, that is why it is so popular - who does not want to have a thin clamshell, moreover, in a stylish case.
Design and appearance
So what do we have? The phone is made in a clamshell form factor, the folded body thickness is 15 millimeters - a good result for clamshells. Otherwise, its design is typical for many representatives of the Samsung clamshell family. What I would like to note is the absence of an external screen on the external panel. It seems that in this version they decided to abandon it. I don’t know if this is correct, the screen often saves users from the tedious opening and closing of the lid on trifles.
Further, on the outer side of the lid there is a camera peephole with a resolution of 1.3 megapixels - not enough in our times, but it will do for an unpretentious user - not many examples are known when a clamshell phone was purchased because of the camera. There is no autofocus and flash, but this is not necessary for such a phone.
And now about the materials. Despite the fact that at first both halves of the phone seem to be the same, over time it is noticeable that one of them has a metal panel and the other has a plastic one. As a matter of fact, only the front panel of the phone is made of metal. Obvious savings were made to reduce the cost of the phone, in addition, the front panel is more often exposed to influences, therefore the metal will protect against these very influences, and the back panel, even if it suffers, it will not be so noticeable.
As for the controls and connectors on the phone case, apart from the keyboard, there is a volume control key, as well as a slot for microSD memory cards (a very small volume is supported - up to 2 gigabytes). There is also a small lace hole here. The most important connector remains on the right side - for recharging the phone, connecting a special cable for synchronization with a personal computer, as well as for connecting headphones. As you can see, here the manufacturer was greedy and did not make separate universal connectors for miniUSB and 3.5 mm minijack. It is not clear why there is such a dislike for universal connectors, but if you lose the sync cable, you will have to look for a new special one, and it just might not be there.
Opening the phone, we find another metal part - a keypad. The keys are well separated vertically, slightly worse horizontally, but you can still find the right button. The absence of protruding parts above the keyboard or in the keys themselves further complicates the task. In the upper part of the keypad there is a four-way joystick key with a confirmation button in the center. All other keys are very ordinary, so there is no need to describe their functions. The top and bottom of the folded phone are unremarkable, there are no connectors here. The upper half is interesting, first of all, for its screen, which visually seems larger due to the black edging. The diagonal of the display is 2.2 inches, and the resolution is 176 * 220 pixels, which is not enough these days for a feeling of comfort, but it is quite enough for the needs of telephony. Above the screen, behind a gray plastic grille, there is a communication speaker.Its quality is not bad, audibility, respectively, too.
In general, this device is more suitable for businessmen and business women (since clamshells are considered a female format). A strict but stylish design, a minimum of necessary connectors and a small screen - there is no need to talk about a youth direction, although austerity and style can find fans in this category of buyers.
Mobile phone functionality
This product has an intermediate position between the simplest musical devices and the simplest business solutions. Support for memory cards, support for MP3, AAC, WAV and WMA formats, as well as a built-in radio receiver, coupled with a wired headset, make the phone a good media device of its time. The built-in media player has some settings, including an equalizer, can play 3gp video files, which the phone's camera can also shoot. Bluetooth 2.0 allows you to seamlessly use a wireless stereo headset, which will be useful if you often drive.
As for the menu, it has everything you need to make calls. Thousands of phone book entries and four hundred events in the organizer are perfect for solving all the tasks you need. The organizer is realized simply and conveniently, therefore it is also very simple, convenient and practical to operate the organizer. Of course, the phone menu has a file manager, several pre-installed themes and a large number of games (some of which are presented as demos). The 1.3-megapixel camera takes pictures with a maximum resolution of 1280 * 1024 pixels, there are preset white balance settings and photographic effects such as sepia and black and white. Movies are recorded with a maximum resolution of 176 * 144 pixels at 15 frames per second. Of course, this video quality is frankly weak, but on the other hand, you can't expect more from such a camera. One of the interesting features of the phone is the function of automatic time adjustment, which independently updates time zones while traveling.

As you can see, the kit is not rich, here, besides the phone itself, there is only a charger, a headset and an instruction manual. There is no sync cable, you will have to purchase it separately.

It turns out that for a relatively low cost Samsung offers an elegant mobile phone with a basic range of functions that satisfy the needs of a person in the field of communication, multimedia and communication. Of course, this phone can be recommended to those who are indifferent to modern touchscreen mobile phones, who are a fan of clamshells, and besides, they do not want to spend money on a bunch of additional effects inherent in modern mobile phones.
