overview BENQ G2220HD

Among all the variety of BENQ monitors, we will consider the G2220HD monitor, which is equally well suited for both home use and office work. The monitor has a diagonal of 21.5 inches, which is enough for work and home video viewing. The resolution of the monitor is 1920 * 1080 pixels, the so-called FullHD. This resolution is very popular now and the share of monitors with this resolution is steadily growing. Let's take a closer look, what's interesting about this monitor?

Package and body

The monitor is delivered in the most ordinary cardboard box, on which its main specifications are very briefly described in the form of pictures. There are foam guards inside to protect the monitor during transport. In the complete set with the monitor you will find only the usual analog D-SUB, unfortunately, the manufacturer did not provide the device with a DVI-wire, although it is simply necessary for FullHD, because the digital signal conveys the image quality much better than the analog one. Apparently the manufacturer forgot about it.

The monitor weighs pretty well - 4.3 kilograms. The set includes a stand that is not adjustable in height.

The entire body of the monitor is painted black and looks solid. Sufficiently austere design complements the pleasant impression of the monitor. The body is made of high-quality plastic, which, unfortunately, attracts dust quite well. In addition, it is glossy, which means that fingerprints and scratches are inevitable. It's good that the front panel lacks control keys, and since it is glossy, the touch will be minimal, which means that the appearance of fingerprints is minimized. The monitor screen has a matte finish, which also has a positive effect on performance. The leg and footrest are separate, so you must first connect them, after which the monitor can be installed on any horizontal surface. The monitor has special holes for wall mounting. Before you hang up the monitor, you can detach the entire leg as a whole, since it is quite simple to detach.

From the stand's capabilities - changing the angle of inclination of the monitor, which does not really affect, because in this parameter everything is done to a minimum. Not a very happy fact, but rather a manufacturer's defect. In addition to connectors for the DVI and D-SUB cable, and power, the monitor has no other connectors; for the digital connector, you will have to purchase a cable separately. The wires are fastened to the monitor leg with a special latch. The monitor is controlled using five buttons located on the right side of the monitor, there is also a power control button.

Menu and some tests

The monitor is equipped with a fairly high-quality menu, which allows you to easily reach the desired settings and change them at your discretion. There is extensive control over the many modes that this monitor is equipped with. There are a large number of presets and color profiles. Also, the monitor has a dynamic contrast mode and a system for fine color adjustment.

Benq Senseye technology is interesting, which allows you to get a deeper and more color-saturated image using a built-in special processor. We recommend that you enable it. Below is a sample image with and without Benq Senseye.

The monitor has a TFT TN matrix with a response time of 5 ms, which is quite comfortable for viewing.

The real value of the brightness level is slightly less than the declared 300 cd / m2 and amounts to 280 cd / m2, which is enough to work in sufficient lighting conditions. There are quite strong differences in the declared contrast level and real indicators, in reality the contrast ratio is 636: 1, and the declared value is 1000: 1, and this is without the use of dynamic contrast. As for the color gradients, everything is in order with the monitor. The gradients are quite smooth and the transitions are very high quality. Next, let's look at the color gamut in the monitor.

The diagram clearly shows what a wide color gamut the TN matrix of this monitor has. It exceeds sRGB values on almost all sides of the triangle, with the exception of the red and blue areas, which are only slightly below the sRGB values. This is a very good result, especially for a matrix of this type, so in this test the monitor was ahead of many solutions in its price category.

The measured response time is less than 10 ms, which is quite enough for high-quality display of dynamic information, for example, scene changes in computer games.

As for the viewing angles, then, unlike the horizontal angles, where everything is in order with the review and the color only slightly loses its saturation, the vertical viewing angles have a somewhat strange behavior. It consists in changing the color in a wave-like manner, when changing the viewing angle. When viewed from above, this is what happens, the image either loses or restores color when the angle of the upper view is changed. As for the visibility of the image when viewed from below, it begins to be lost after a deviation of 20 degrees, up to the loss of any visibility of what is happening on the screen. Obviously, this is why the manufacturer made the ability to deflect the monitor extremely limited.

Outcome

BENQ G2220HD is a pretty high quality product for a small price. It has very good color characteristics and a detailed menu with the ability to change many settings. Add to this the fast response time, FullHD resolution and good diagonal, and you have a monitor that can handle all the tasks of both home and office use. The only disadvantage is the lack of a digital cable in the package bundle, but this is not very important, since it can be purchased at any digital equipment store. Purchase F.ua.com.ua.
