DESIGN
Even if you do not understand the lines of laptops so well that you can determine in which class a particular model is positioned by one appearance alone, the ASUS G1S laptop will become a kind of teaching aid for you. The design of this model is fully consistent with the laid down concept of a gaming computer, designed for a young enthusiast under the age of 25.
The computer case combines both plastic and metal panels. The working area has a coating similar to the floors of industrial plants, on the territory of which the actions of many famous shooters unfold. The upper glossy lid and the bezel around the display are designed in the same way. An interesting element of the G1S laptop's interface is the small OLED display. In normal mode, it serves to display the clock, but, for example, when the battery is low, it will display a message about the need to immediately charge the battery.
The color scheme of the notebook is also quite original. The black color of the hull panels is in perfect harmony with the bright green inserts that look like leaked toxic waste, symbolizing the war zones in secret research bases and laboratories.
The captions for some keys are painted in the same color, including those responsible for movement in action games and first-person shooters. The included mouse and laptop backpack are made in a similar style. By the way, the wired mouse is an exact copy of the Logitech MX518 model, which was once positioned as a gaming solution.
DISPLAY
The 15.4-inch display supports a resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels and ASUS Splendid technology, thanks to which the user can choose the optimal color mode for the task at hand. The function is controlled using a special program.
The screen did an excellent job with rich colors and special effects graphics in the 3DMark test, and as a result, the ASUS G1S made it to the list of notebooks with the most powerful graphics capabilities.
ERGONOMICS
In addition to a good, in terms of ergonomics, mouse, the laptop is equipped with a standard keyboard, which can hardly be called a gaming keyboard. Perhaps the only element that emphasizes the gaming capabilities of ASUS G1S is the special labeling of the buttons responsible for the movement of the hero of the game.
In other respects, ASUS G1S looks more like a multimedia computer. It supports a separate interface for controlling the media player located under the touchpad, recording all types of CDs and DVDs, and a built-in 1.3 mega-pixel camera.

PERFORMANCE
The configuration of the ASUS G1S computer looks more than impressive.
At least the components presented in it do an excellent job with gaming applications, not to mention working with media content.
The novelty is equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor with a clock frequency of 2.2 GHz, 2 gigabytes of RAM and an external video card nVidia GeForce 8600M GT with 256 megabytes of memory. The laptop showed itself very well in the test utilities, which made it possible to highly appreciate its hardware potential and recommend all fans of games with thick wallets to take a closer look at this model.
The backbone of the hardware resource is complemented by a 250 gigabyte hard drive, which is enough not only for installing large-sized games, but also for storing multimedia content, so if you need to go anywhere, you will be provided with a cultural and entertainment program in the form of music and films.
Burning discs is possible thanks to the built-in Super Multi format drive with Light Scribe technology, which is jokingly referred to as an alternative to conventional permanent marker. With its help, the drive will be able to inscribe on the front side of the blank, which will require media with a special coating.
COMMUNICATIONS
The plethora of ports will be appreciated by any educated computer scientist. In addition to wireless adapters Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g and Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, the new product has a large number of necessary ports, which will sooner or later come in handy. On the sides of the case there are ports for E-SATA (for connecting external hard drives with SATA interface), HDMI, S-Video, VGA, as well as FireWire and a 4-in-1 card reader.
WORKING HOURS
In the maximum performance mode, the novelty worked for two hours. On the one hand, this is a normal indicator for a cool multimedia laptop, on the other hand, two hours of hot battle in your favorite game is enough only to warm up before the tournament. You can count on a more or less decent indicator if the purpose of working on G1S is editing text, tables, browsing the Internet or banal communication via ICQ.
