Before the advent of Android, the undisputed leaders in the smartphone market were models based on Symbian. Now the popularity of this operating system has dropped to almost zero, but Nokia is in no hurry to part with it. The Nokia C5-00 5MP is the latest in a whole line of Symbian-based models.
Design
Externally, the phone looks like a regular candy bar, the dimensions of which are 112.3x46x12.3 mm. The back cover of the model is made of stainless steel. Under it is the battery and the SIM slot. The lid opening mechanism is very convenient, but unreliable. If dropped, the battery may fall out.
The device is equipped with a TFT-screen with a diagonal of 2.2 inches. Nowadays, it is rather inconvenient due to its compactness, however, it is quite suitable for fans of "antique" phones. The screen resolution is excellent considering its dimensions - 320 x 240 pixels. In addition to the display on the front panel, there is a front camera, speaker and digital block.
On the back are two speakers and a built-in camera. Also implemented are volume keys, which, like the memory card compartment, are located on the left side of the model. There are no connectors on the bottom end, but on the top there are three of them: for headphones, for charging from the mains and for connecting to a computer.
The keypad of the Nokia C5-00 5MP is quite comfortable, although after the touchphone it can seem uncomfortable. The device boasts excellent build quality, there are no backlashes or creaks. The display has small viewing angles typical of this type of display. In the sun, you have to make some effort to read anything on the screen. Pixelation is completely invisible - the screen resolution is remarkable for such a display size of 320 x 240 pixels.
Software
The phone has everything you want - an application store, games, browser, multimedia, office applications. However, all this has been implemented at a very poor level. For example, video is played only of low quality, and there is no point in watching something in high quality on such a small display. The browser supports all the necessary functions, but surfing the web on it is a real torment. The limitations of the S60 3rd Edition FP2, the operating system, which, in my opinion, has long since served its purpose, is felt literally in everything.
However, let's dwell on the possibilities that this operating system gives.
The user has only one desktop available, but this circumstance, however, will not be a disadvantage for many. But you can rebuild it as much as possible for yourself. The design for it is selected in Themes.
The model has a calendar, which provides the ability to make notes.
Each contact can be assigned quite extensive information: from the name of his place of work to his e-mail.
The Nokia C5-00 5MP has a Log, thanks to which the user can find out how much he talked on the phone or how much Internet traffic he used.
The player is pretty good in terms of its functionality. The songs are divided into albums, titles, playlists, genres and artists. Rewinding tracks is not supported.
Camera
The Nokia C5-00 5MP camera, as the name suggests, has a 5MP resolution, which is more than enough for everyday needs. The camera supports flash, but it lacks autofocus, which significantly affects the quality of images. The camera speed is very slow, taking about 10 seconds to process each shot.
You can switch to the front camera through the settings, you can also turn on photo or video recording, adjust the balance, and so on. The phone shoots video with a maximum resolution of 640x480 pixels.
Specifications
The phone is equipped with a rather modest processor (600 MHz).The amount of RAM is 256 MB, built-in - 512 MB, of which 270 MB are available to the user. If desired, the built-in memory can be expanded with a microSD card (up to 32 GB).
Outcome
Frankly speaking, the Nokia C5-00 5MP does not meet all the requirements of the modern user. In general, the choice of a smartphone without a touchscreen seems questionable. However, for those people who find smartphones inconvenient, or simply do not like touch controls, this model will suit perfectly.
