Appearance, design of Nokia E72

As highlighted when the Nokia E72 arrives, it has the same appearance as its predecessor, the E71. The phone measures 114 x 58 x 10 mm and weighs only 128 g. All business phones are characterized by stylish design. In this case, it is no different from other models - there is a chrome finish on the sides of the phone, a metal battery cover with a ribbed texture and a classic black color of the phone.

The sides of the phone, in addition to the chrome inserts that are visible on the front of the phone, have a matte plastic finish. There are three silver buttons on the right side. The left side includes a USB input and a microSD slot for memory cards, and is covered with plastic caps that perfectly match the look of the entire device. There is a power button on the top edge, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Keypad Nokia E72

The front of the phone consists of a display and a QWERTY keyboard. Various functions are hung on the buttons: Main menu / calendar, contacts / e-mail address, as well as two function keys, two call buttons (Call, and exit) and 5th Nokia Navi. The middle button on the panel acts like a trackball - for scrolling lists with your finger and like a "Cursor", without having to press any buttons.

The QWERTY keyboard on Nokia E72 is very convenient to use, thanks to the rather large buttons, which are also convex. Multiple keyboard shortcuts can be assigned quickly and easily.

Screen Nokia E72

The Nokia E72 is equipped with a 2.4-inch QVGA display (320 x 240 pixels). It displays crisp images and the relatively small screen size does not interfere with comfortable operation. Of course, the diagonal cannot be larger compared to the screens used in the latest smartphones that use AMOLED technology or Super AMOLED, but the standard LCD matrix provides good visibility for it even on a sunny day.

Nokia E72 system and interface

The Nokia E72 is based on an ARM 600MHz processor and uses the Symbian S60v3 operating system. The system works smoothly and quickly, but I'm not happy with the stability - during testing, there were at least five unwanted system resets, which occurred most often while listening to the radio. In my opinion, this is a big disadvantage, which should not happen with phones that are already on the free sale.

As for the operation of the interface, I have no serious objections to it - the reaction is quick, and the transition between successive menu levels is almost instantaneous. Using the phone is intuitive and the menu layout is the same as in other Nokia models.

The main menu provides quick access to your calendar, applications or web browser, email, and the Ovi store. As befits a business phone, there is a full range of office functions such as: Quickoffice (the ability to open and create documents in Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe PDF and Zip archiver.

When looking at the main menu, it is worth noting the main screen modes and shortcut keys. The Nokia E72 has a large number of options with which we can quickly and efficiently navigate to Ovi maps, the Internet or search for available WiFi networks. In addition, the phone has the ability to work in various networks, as well as display standard information about the state of the battery, GSM / 3G signal, date and time.

Multimedia in Nokia E72

Nokia E72 is a model that cannot be described as a fully multimedia phone. Nevertheless, a pleasant surprise came in the form of a good mp3 player and good quality of the bundled headset, and as a result, good sound quality. There is also a good radio with RDS and an easy-to-use music player equipped with equalizers (Heavy, bass, jazz, rock, etc.).

The standard application for video playback is RealPlayer, which performs its function pretty well - movies in RMVB, MPEG-4 or 3GP format play smoothly and without problems. Real Player has several limitations, however, and the main factor is the inability to play in DivX format.

Camera in Nokia E72

Nokia E72 is equipped with a very good and high quality 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, which allows you to shoot with a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. The quality of images captured in good lighting is good color reproduction and contrast and detail are good. The situation is somewhat worse in poor lighting, because the flash is weak and the photographs are often unexposed.

The quality of the video is poor - the image jumps when the objects are moved, the image is blurry. By the way, it is worth noting that Nokia E72 does not have a special key for taking pictures on the side of the phone, and therefore all operations must be performed through the phone's menu, which, of course, reduces the likelihood of quickly getting the photo you are interested in. This is a feature of cheaper phone models rather than the flagship, albeit in the business class. The main thing is that this did not affect the quality of the resulting images, so the developers can be forgiven for such an oversight.

Internet in Nokia E72

As befits a business model, the Nokia E72 has all the popular wireless communication modules. These include: Bluetooth, WiFi, HSDPA, GPRS, and EDGE. During the tests, WiFi was most often used, there were no problems with connecting to various networks, constant communication with the networks was maintained even with their weak signal.

To browse the web, you can use the standard Symbian web browser, which is free, or you can install Opera Mini. The product of the Norwegian company, in addition to very fast page loading (with constant data compression, both text and graphic), provides, in particular: an adjustable text size on the page, a convenient manager of open web pages and stable operation (the standard browser sometimes freezes ).

GPS Navigation in Nokia E72

Navigation in Ovi Maps works very well - there were no delays in data transfer or downloading maps. Navigation is very convenient both for driving and for walking tours.

The downside may be the small screen, which makes it nearly impossible to use the Ovi map while driving.

Nokia E72 Battery

The battery used in the E72 is the strong point of the phone. The 1500mAh battery should satisfy even the most demanding users. With moderate use of phone functions - 40 minutes of calls a day, 20 minutes a day using the Internet via WiFi, 30-40 minutes of listening to the radio and recording dozens of SMS / e-mails - the battery can withstand 5-6 days. Such a result is not achievable with a new touchscreen smartphone.

Summary

Nokia E72 is a phone designed for business users. For those who need multimedia and high performance, they need to look for another tube. However, I think the E72 is one of the more interesting models from Nokia's E-Series.
