The purpose of the HP Pavilion Media Center tx1280er Entertainment Notebook PC is clear from its full name - this is an entertainment computer.

The touch screen provides additional flexibility in control, the ability to work on the weight, holding the device with one hand, and enter data using the stylus.

Functionality

For the convenience of controlling the media center, in addition to the buttons on the case, a remote control is provided. The optical DVD drive supports Lightscribe technology to create high-quality images on the surface of special "blanks".

The computer is equipped with a 12.1-inch tablet screen that supports a resolution of 1280x800 pixels. The video subsystem is based on the NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 graphics processor and, in addition to 64 MB of video memory, up to 495 MB of system memory can be allocated to it. High-quality sound accompaniment of media content is provided by stereo speakers from the well-known company Altec Lansing.

The laptop is equipped with a dual-core processor AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60 with a clock frequency of 2 GHz, and two modules of RAM with a capacity of 1 GB.

This "tablet" is equipped with almost all the necessary interfaces: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Ethernet LAN, USB, S-Video. The data exchange capabilities are supplemented by the presence of an ExpressCard slot and a multi-format card reader that works with SD, MMC, Memory Stick (PRO), xD picture memory cards.

Design

The hinge that holds the screen cover allows the LCD to rotate around three axes 180 degrees. This allows you to position the screen at a comfortable angle, and also fold it to cover the keyboard and turn the device into a tablet device controlled by a stylus.

In the closed position, the lid is fixed by means of two latches, unlocked by a latch-button located on the front edge of the lid.

The outer side of the bezel has a glossy black surface with a pattern of many thin curved lines, somewhat reminiscent of highly enlarged fingerprints.

The screen cover, due to the compactness of this laptop, is loaded with a large number of controls. On the outside, on its right edge, there are four buttons for controlling the media player (rewind, rewind, play / pause, stop).

If the cover is turned upside down, then in the middle of the right edge there will be a biometric fingerprint sensor.

In the same position of the cover on the back left, four more control buttons become available: rotation of the image on the screen (four positions), access to the center of mobile devices, launching the QuickPlay program, activating the function of playing DVD programs. At the same time, thanks to the marking, you can control the media player by touch using the previously described four buttons.

In addition to the controls, the lid also houses a webcam (centered on the bezel at the top) and stereo speakers (centered at the bottom, around the hinge). In addition, in the lower left corner of the bezel, there is an IR sensor and three system indicators: power on, battery charge, and hard drive activity.

Although this computer is modest in size, its keyboard is full-sized with 101 keys.

Their location is familiar and not satisfactory. Above the keyboard on the left there are three buttons used to decrease / increase the sound volume and quickly mute the sound.

Under the keyboard in the middle there is a touchpad equipped with two mouse buttons. Its surface has many micro-grooves, which eliminates the effect of sticking a finger. To lock in pen control mode, the touchpad is equipped with a dedicated button located at the top.

To work with a computer in tablet mode, the kit includes a stylus pen stored in a niche located on the right side of the case. Nearby are a USB port, a network connection, an expansion port, D-Sub and S-Video video outputs, and an air vent.

On the left side of the case there is a socket for connecting a power adapter, a card reader slot, an ExpressCard slot, which houses a miniature remote control, and an optical drive compartment.

The optical drive in this model is removable. To reduce the weight of the laptop, it can be removed and replaced with a special plastic cover.

On the front edge of the case on the left side there is a power switch and a corresponding indicator, and symmetrically on the right - a wireless switch with an activity indicator. The panel in the center contains an IR sensor for the remote control, a high-quality audio output (S / PDIF), an audio output for headphones, a microphone audio input.

On the back side of the case, on the left, there is only a ventilation hole, and on the right - a modem connection, two USB ports and a Kensington lock slot.

On the bottom cover of the case, at the trailing edge, there is a battery, which is fixed by two spring-loaded latches. The optical drive latch is located near the leading edge.
