Edifier MP300 Plus Review

Edifier MP300 Plus

The Edifier MP300 Plus speaker system comes in a handy carrying case for secure storage and portability when needed. However, they are not as mobile as we would like, since they require mains power from the outlet. As for the speaker system itself, it consists of 2 tiny satellites that look like tweeters, and a cylinder on a stand where the subwoofer is hidden. When paired with a laptop, the cylinder itself can be placed directly behind the display cover, so that only the satellites on the sides of the laptop are visible. It will probably be difficult to find a more convenient and at the same time less cumbersome system.

The possibilities of adjustment and connections are limited to a minimum, the speaker system has only a line input and the ability to adjust the volume using 2 small buttons on the right satellite. In principle, such simplicity is well suited for this kind of system.

Technical characteristics

Low frequency amplification power, W - 15

Amplification power of satellites, W - 2x 3.5

Frequency Response - 40 Hz - 20 kHz (-10 dB)

Inputs: Linear

Headphone out: no

Speaker system: satellites -1.5 "hemispherical cone speaker; subwoofer - 5 cm speaker

Practical tests

At first, the sound seemed a little thin to us. A small boost of low frequencies with the help of an equalizer helped (+6 dB at 250 Hz, just at the transition between the satellites and the subwoofer). After all this, we got a very high quality impressive sound for a system so compact. Of course, it hardly needs to be compared with other acoustics, whose size is much larger, but listening to music at medium or low volumes will be quite pleasant, which is not very common with compact speakers. The limitation here is the volume level. You may not expect very high volume, especially on any kind of dynamic music. The Edifier MP300 Plus speakers were clearly made by the developers for close listening, and here they give a very impressive stereo sound image.

Conclusion

A set of acoustics MP300 Plus allows you to noticeably improve the quality of notebook sound, which often leaves much to be desired. This is a very attractive kit that is small in size and stylish in appearance. It is a pity that the acoustics require power from the mains, which significantly limited the mobile capabilities of the Edifier MP300 Plus acoustics.
