PRESSURE FOR FISHING - what is considered good (normal) atmospheric pressure for fishing

After reading this article, you may become a legend among the fishermen you know. "He knows something, - they will talk about you, - because he always returns with a catch ...". And you will know the elementary thing: what kind of fish to fish at high pressure, and what kind at low pressure.

Low pressure,

less than 760 mm Hg. Art.

Normal atmospheric pressure,

760 mmHg Art.

High pressure,

more than 760 mm Hg. Art.

A sharp change in pressure
  • Cloudy, precipitation, windy.
  • The lower the pressure, the more stormy the weather gets.
Partly cloudy, light wind.
  • Clear, dry, windless.
  • Intense heat in summer, hard frost in winter.
Strong, gusty wind.

  • If the atmospheric pressure rises, bream, silver bream, sabrefish, ide, chub and asp become active. The perch also becomes more violent, especially the young. With decreasing pressure, these species become lethargic.
  • The bottom predatory fish decreases its activity with increasing pressure. Catfish and burbot subside. The pike also becomes lethargic. But with a decrease in pressure, the predatory fish becomes more active - it uses the lethargy of the white for a successful hunt. Daytime pike perch, catfish, burbot, large perch and pike become mobile.
  • With a sharp drop in atmospheric pressure, almost all fish become inactive.
  • Pike perch is one of the few fish that practically does not react to changes in atmospheric pressure.

A universal sign: if the pressure is stable for two to three days, the bite will be excellent.

To track pressure while fishing, it is better to use a sports watch with a barometer: it is protected from shocks and rain, and has many useful functions. But we rarely wear a clock at home, where a wall barometer comes in handy - it will be a beautiful addition to the interior of any living room.
