HOW TO CHARGE THE SMARTPHONE CORRECTLY - how to properly charge the phone

The charging process of the battery depends on the type of battery. Let's list the main ones:

  • lithium ion (Li-Ion);
  • lithium polymer (Li-Pol);
  • Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH).

Nickel batteries are used less frequently than lithium batteries.

Lithium batteries differ in the type of electrolyte. In lithium-ion, the electrolyte is liquid. Their advantages include a long service life, the disadvantages are low energy efficiency and significant weight. In lithium polymer batteries, the electrolyte is gelatinous. Therefore, the batteries are thin and light, but with greater capacity.

When charging batteries, use only the original charger.

How do I charge my phone battery?

For new phones, it is recommended to cycle the battery. This procedure is especially important for nickel batteries that have a "memory effect". If the charging mode is incorrect, these batteries will lose capacity. Lithium batteries do not have this disadvantage, but, nevertheless, some rules should be followed.

Lithium batteries are not charged immediately. It is necessary to discharge the battery to 10-15%. Then put the battery on a full charge. Repeat the full cycle 2-3 times. No longer worth it, as it can lead to the opposite result - the battery will fail faster than expected.

After an hour and a half, the phone with a lithium battery will signal a full charge. In fact, the battery recharged somewhere between 70-80%. Therefore, after such a signal, the charger should not be turned off for another couple of hours.

NiMH batteries require more attention. There are three things to keep in mind about them: these batteries must not be overheated, overcharged, or over-discharged. Before charging, you need to discharge it to the maximum, and only then put it on recharge. It is undesirable to interrupt the charging process - this will shorten the battery life. The device turns off only after it is fully charged. The cycle is repeated 4-6 times, although quality batteries fully recover their potential after 1-2 cycles.

How to charge your phone battery directly from a laptop

First you need to check if it is possible to connect your phone to a laptop via a USB port. This can be found either from the instructions for using the phone or on the official website. If there is such an opportunity, then we simply connect the phone via a USB cable to the computer.

That being said, remember that the USB port is only capable of delivering 500mA, while most batteries require 800mA. Therefore, the phone will take longer to charge than a conventional charger.

How to properly charge your phone

If you plan on not using your mobile phone for a while, it is best to remove the battery from it. Then it will not lose its characteristics. Before that, the battery must be recharged, but not 100%, but 70-80%.

What to do if the phone does not respond when the charger is connected? This is because the phone is deeply discharged. Try leaving your phone plugged in for a couple of hours. If it works, it will start charging.

It is not necessary to bring the lithium battery to 100% every time, you can up to 80-90%. You should alternate between full and incomplete charging cycles. This will increase the battery life.

If after that the mobile phone does not come to life, then you should try a universal charger. It can "revive" discharged batteries by delivering more current than standard devices. Alternatively, you can contact service centers, which usually also have similar devices.

If all else fails to properly charge the phone, the battery will need to be replaced.
