MILL FOR MANICURE HOW TO CHOOSE - which milling cutter for manicure is better

The more power of the nail cutter, the faster you will cope with the work without overloading the device. Manufacturers are sometimes cunning and indicate peak performance in the characteristics. It is easy to check their reliability: turn on the router at medium speed and pinch the plug in the handle clamp with your fingers. A weak device will stop.

You shouldn't test professional devices. They have a priori high power, you risk getting burned on the rotating metal.

Also, do not lose sight of the speed of rotation of the nozzle. What procedures you can do depends on it. Choose a variable speed device because you will have to work at a different pace. Polishing nails requires delicacy, and to file off the gel, you need to turn it up.

How to choose a nail cutter?

A taskAppliance powerRPM speed
Manicure on natural nails15 watts10-15 thousand rpm
Gel Coated Nail Treatment20-30 watts20-25 thousand rpm
Pedicure35 W and above20-30 thousand rpm

The handle of the device is equipped with a ring that fixes the cutter. By turning it, the collet (clamping device) is opened. You will be able to pull out or insert the desired nozzle until it stops. And then, as written: they turned the mechanism → fixed → and checked whether the cutter “sits” well → then you can start working.

It is worth paying attention to the vibration of the handle and the presence of purges.

  • When shaking, it is uncomfortable to work with nails. You will get tired quickly.
  • Without purging, the handle overheats and does not serve for a long time.

Professional devices have a reverse function, which switches the direction of rotation of the nozzle.

  • When you feel that you are holding the cutter and it resists, the direction of the device was done correctly.
  • If it slightly squeezes the skin, then the direction is wrong.

Do not switch reverse during operation, otherwise you will ruin the device. First, slow down and only then switch to the desired move.

What cutters are needed for hardware manicure

To shape the nails, you will need discs of different abrasiveness. Therefore, the set should contain:

  • a nozzle with a blunt end of a cylindrical shape or in the form of a cone - to raise the cuticle and remove the remaining coating from the nail plate;

  • pointed nozzle - to clean the dust from under the cuticle and lateral sinuses;
  • a cutter with a ball at the end - cut off the cuticle and remove the rough skin from the side rollers.

Steel tips will last longer, plastic ones often break.

Types of cutters for manicure

Diamond or Sapphire Coated Bits

The most durable.

  • Use coarse grains for filing nails and removing rough skin.
  • With fine grain, good for final filing and cuticle treatment.

Do not be zealous if you cannot move the cuticle deeply tight on the nail. A thin fissure cutter - a diamond needle with a blunt tip of the smallest diameter - perfectly copes with this.

Using small steps with a fissure cutter, move along the nail plate, peeling off the pteryg (the lower layer of the cuticle), and lift it. Then use scissors to cut off the skin with a single tape without tearing.

Corundum and ceramic packing

Soft and safe. They are ideal for polishing the nail and peeling off the cuticle. They do not damage the nail even if you decide to do a hardware manicure for the first time.

Work with a medium-sized blunt corundum cone along the nail plate in one direction. Do not be afraid: it is impossible to damage your nail with a soft cutter. Use it to remove cuticles, layers from the free edge and clean the side sinuses. Use as a buff if necessary to remove the shine from the nail before coating.

Work with a corundum cone like all nail cutters:

  • at a speed of 5-7 thousand revolutions, if you have a powerful machine;
  • and 10-14 thousand rpm on a medium power router.

Remove burrs in jerks: push → release. Peel off the burr back to its growth, as if cutting.

Sand caps

They look like emery. They are indispensable in the fight against cracks and corns. In some models, the caps are removable and designed for one use.

Felt or silicone attachments

Align the nail plate and polish it to a glossy shine. Use them at low revs and don't get stuck in one area. Do this in small steps without sweeping movements.

We advise you to apply jojoba or almond oil to your nails before polishing. This will strengthen the nail plate.

It remains to rejoice at the new manicure.
