HOW TO CHOOSE A SPRAYER - electric spray gun reviews, types, which is better for painting walls

An electric spray gun is as simple as a copper penny. I took the paint, poured it into the tank, plugged it into the power grid - you work. It sprays in a thin, uniform stream, therefore it is considered economical.

Spray guns are divided into air and airless.

  • The first works under pressure, which is created by a powerful turbine. The paint from the tank is pushed through the nozzle by air pressure and breaks down into the smallest drizzle. The droplets lay down evenly on the surface and dry quickly. It turns out quickly and without smudges.
  • At the heart of the airless apparatus is a pump that is powered by an engine. The paint goes through a hose to the nozzle and is sprayed onto the surface to be painted. These devices are inferior in power, but paint no worse.

Airless models are distinguished by types: floor and manual.

  • Outdoor are renowned for their endurance. They are designed for large volumes of work.
  • Manual - more budgetary. When choosing a spray gun, look at engine power and performance. The speed of work, its duration and durability of the device depend on them. Suitable power 500-600 W, flow rate 400-500 ml / min. If the scope of work is large, choose a model with more power. Look at the volume of the tank and the diameter of the nozzle. The smaller the nozzle, the thinner the application layer will be. The thinnest nozzles are used for painting cars. For painting walls and ceilings, take nozzles with a diameter of 2-2.5 mm.

If you paint a table or chair, a low-power 150-500 W model will do. And for painting walls, you need a tool with an external motor with a power of over 500 watts.

The power of the device dictates the conditions for the viscosity of the paint: so that it is certainly fluid and does not clog the nozzles. For this reason, manufacturers often complete the device with an additional device - a viscometer. One hundred millimeter cup with a hole helps to determine the degree of viscosity recommended by the manufacturer for normal operation. The thick is diluted with a solvent until it reaches the fluidity indicated in the table.

Spray gun: how to choose among pneumatic models

Pneumatic spray guns are powered by a compressor. This is the only type for which the correspondence of pressure and air volume in the tank is important. See labeling.

Features of the

HP Series

It works at high pressure (5-6 atmospheres) and at low air consumption, therefore it forms a wide torch. Accordingly, it covers a wide area of the test, which is why the overrun of material and air (eats over 400 ml / min). Due to the turbulence of the air, it leaves a lot of debris on the painted surface.

Not suitable for working with enamels and varnishes.

HVLP series

It works at low pressure and high air consumption, therefore it forms a small fog and uses paint more economically.

They paint at a distance of 10-15 cm. Due to this, the width of the torch and the wetness of the spot are reduced. Stay in one place longer, there will be a drip.

LVLP series

Works at low pressure and reduced air consumption.

These spray guns have a narrow torch, so the paint is sprayed as hard as it can. Due to this, the distance to the painting surface can be increased (20-25 cm). It is easier to work and learn to paint with this system than with HVLP.

To avoid drips, paint with a spray gun strictly horizontally or vertically. Wave-like and loop-shaped movements are not an option, you get stains. And yes. Maintain the distance to the surface no further than 20-30 cm. Then Malevich himself will envy such work.

No need to disassemble to clean spray gun after use

Pour solvent into the tank and let the instrument run for a while. In this way, the tool assemblies are washed.

But how handy it is to work with a spray gun depends on the location of the tank.

  • The lower location is convenient, the device is placed in a conspicuous place, and not placed where it is necessary. But such devices do not completely consume paint. Residues remain at the bottom of the tank.
  • For professional sprayers, the tank is overhead. The paint is consumed below zero. This arrangement allows you to work with thick varnish-and-paint materials. And the product itself is balanced: it is comfortable to hold, the hand does not get tired so quickly.

How to check the gun when buying

Disassemble and reassemble to see how the parts curl.

Electric spray gun: reviews

Bely Alexander Vladimirovich left a review on Intertool 120W: “Paints quickly, only have time to fill in the paint / varnish. Painted 50 sq. m of a fence in a couple of hours. I would smear it with a brush for a couple of days. Saved time and less consumption».

makk, Intertool HVLP 450W review: “Colors well, paint consumption is convenient to regulate».

Bodya says about Dnipro-M SH-65: “The paint is evenly distributed. I used to paint it with a simple spray can, so there were "bald patches" and smudges. This does not threaten here. I don’t regret a single penny spent».
