How to properly transport the refrigerator?
Can the refrigerator be transported horizontally or simply lying on its side? Some argue that it is categorically impossible, others that it is possible, but with certain rules.
Why can't you transport the refrigerator lying down?
Incorrect horizontal transport can damage the unit, namely:
- broken tubes,
- leakage of compressor oil into the supercharger and its clogging,
- the formation of cracks on the compressor through which freon escapes,
- breakage of the compressor mount attached to the frame.
Minimize your risk by following 7 simple rules:
- remove all removable parts and parts - pack them separately;
- in order not to damage the case, pack the refrigerator in the original packing made of foam plastic or in a cardboard box, wrapping it with tape;
- do not put the unit on the door or its back - it is better to transport it lying on its side;
- place thick cardboard or cloth under the bottom so as not to scratch the enamel;
- position the refrigerator with the tubing from the compressor “facing up”. If they are not visible or they branch out in different directions, place the unit on either side;
- securely fasten so that at the moment of braking or a sharp turn, the refrigerator does not move;
- do not turn on the household appliance immediately after transportation. Wait 2-4 hours for the unit to warm up in the room, and the refrigerant is evenly distributed throughout the system.
