To determine your shoe size in cm, you need to measure your foot. It is recommended to do this at the end of the day, because the legs are trampled and grow larger. Stand on a piece of paper and trace your leg with a pencil. To determine the length of your foot, measure the distance between the bulging points (A and B) as shown in the figure.
- Put on your socks, stand on a piece of paper and trace the feet with a pencil, holding it perpendicular to the sheet.
- Measure from heel to toe on each foot. If the dimensions are different, use the highest value as a basis.
- (Alternatively, remove the insole from your comfortable shoe and measure its length).
- Add 5 mm to the result.
Shoe fullness table: how to determine the fullness of the feet
When choosing suitable footwear, we pay a lot of attention to the material from which it is sewn and to the quality of decorative elements - lacing, Velcro zippers, etc. But not every footwear fits perfectly on the foot, even though it is of a suitable size.
If the shoe is chosen incorrectly, it will slide off or, conversely, squeeze (as a result, calluses appear or, even worse, growths on the joints).
Of course, it all depends on the specific model of a domestic or foreign manufacturer. But we need to learn that size means not only the length of the foot, but also the completeness of the shoe (see the table of completeness below). For most of us, leg fullness is standard, however, it should not be ignored - especially for those who have a wide or narrow foot.
What is shoe fullness?
The fullness of the shoe is a measure of the girth of the foot at the widest part of the toe - where the bone sticks out. Its data depends on the group of pads, which are divided into male and female, depending on age. The table of completeness of shoes is detailed in GOST 3927-88. But many manufacturers do not adhere to the state standard and often ignore this parameter on their product.
It is generally accepted that if the completeness is not specified, it corresponds to the normal value. Today, many enterprises specialize in the production of footwear of a specific size - very narrow, narrow, normal, wider than average, wide - which is especially important for sports shoes (including skates, ski boots, etc.).
Completeness notation
The completeness indicator is prescribed in numbers or letters.
- The figures are typical for Ukraine and European countries.
- Latin letters A, B, C, D, F - for Great Britain and the USA.
In our country, according to the generally accepted standard, a gradation of 1-12 is used with a 4 mm interval. The difference between the smallest and largest indicator can be 5 cm. In European countries, the completeness varies between 1-10 with a step of 5 mm. For clarity, see the table of foot fullness designations.

How to measure leg fullness
To determine the fullness of the foot, first, find out:
- length of the foot along the protruding points,
- and width - along the widest protrusion near the forefoot (in mm).
Measure each foot individually. It is ideal to do this in the evening - when the volume of the foot is greater than in the morning. It would be nice on a thin toe, since shoes are not worn on bare feet, with the exception of summer sandals. If the indicators of the legs are different, be guided by the highest values.
How to determine the completeness of shoes by the formula
This formula determines the completeness of shoes for women and men.
W = 0.25xB - 0.15xC - A,
Where:
- W - completeness indicator;
- B - foot girth (mm);
- C - foot length (mm);
- A - constant value:
- 16 - for women's shoes of size range 33.5-40, in accordance with the length of the foot 21-27.5 cm,
- 17 - for men's shoes of the size range 38.5-44.5, the foot length of which is 24.5-30.5 cm.

Judging by the table:
- completeness index 6 is the data of the normal completeness of the feet;
- values 2-5 characterize stops that are already average;
- 7 and above - wider than average, wide, full, very wide.
The completeness table for women's shoes is different from that for men. The difference is one value:
- No. 2 of completeness in women's shoes corresponds to No. 3 in men;
- No. 3 for women is consistent with indicator No. 4 for men, and so on.
How to find out the completeness of shoes according to the American system
America has its own system of designating the completeness of shoes. See table for shoe size in cm (US).

How to determine the completeness of children's shoes
Modern children look taller than their Soviet-era peers. Therefore, the generally accepted indicators of GOST standard 3927-88 are hopelessly outdated.
Reputable manufacturers are researching children's feet to create a versatile last. Now in mass production shoes with Velcro, laces and fasteners. Thanks to the adjusting fittings, you can "fit" the fullness to the child's foot. But it is better to try on shoes several times before buying them.Where to see brand size charts
On our site there are tables of shoe sizes for more than 100 brands. They are located on the page of each model under the panel of available sizes. By measuring your foot length as described above, you can quickly determine your size for this brand.
How to choose shoe size
For general information, we present a table of sizes so that it is easier for you to decide on your measurements according to Ukrainian and European standards. You should not completely rely on it; when choosing shoes, we recommend checking the values \ u200b \ u200bwith the manufacturers' grids.
