HOW TO CHOOSE LINEN CONDITIONER - why you need it, which fabric softener is better, reviews

We do not argue: washing powder gives a scent to things. But only the conditioner-rinse gives a persistent pleasant smell. Thanks to the special components in its composition, the washed things smell for weeks, do not electrify, and are easier to iron.

But there is a nuance. The air conditioner does not "work" in full force immediately. The effect of accumulation in tissue is inherent in it.

  • The smell of the laundry is already felt after the first wash.
  • Electrostatics will "go away" after the second or third wash.
  • But the relief of ironing is noticeable after the fourth wash.

However, the improvements can be overlooked. And it's not about the bad rinse aid, but about the clothes. Conditioners are designed for only two types of material - cotton and mixed fabrics. Of course, nothing terrible will happen if you wash synthetic tees or sports uniforms. But there will be no effect, only the smell. You need to choose not only with your nose, but also with your eyes.

Which fabric softener is better

As well as in powders, surfactants (surfactants) also run the show in air conditioners. These are quaternary manic compounds from natural raw materials that are obtained after chemical processing. They are not harmful to the skin.

  • In the composition of washing powder, the lion's share falls on anionic surfactants, which are not useful for our health.
  • The rinse agent is dominated by cationic surfactants. They help get rid of anionic substances - they absorb them, break down and rinse them off with water.

Tissue particles contain positively and negatively charged particles. During washing, they join together, the fabric becomes stiffer. To separate these particles, cationic surfactants come into play.

  • The optimal amount of cationic substances in the air conditioner should be at least 5%. If there are fewer of them, the manufacturer marks it with a ">".
  • In a concentrated rinse aid - up to 15%.

The effect when using conventional and concentrated rinses is the same, but the consumption is different. The concentrate is consumed in small doses, it lasts for a long time. So it is more profitable to buy a concentrated product.

The sharper the smell and the more sophisticated the name of the mouthwash (for example, "Tropical Island", "Scandinavian Spring"), the worse for our health. To combine this scent, chemists experiment with dozens of constituent ingredients. Among them there are many synthetic ones that provoke allergies. It is better to buy an odorless and neutral white product. Yes, it is more expensive, but it contains fewer dyes and synthetic additives. The best conditioner is with the extracts we are used to (take at least chamomile or Aloe Vera).

Silicones in tandem with surfactants form the thinnest protective film. Terry towels and bathrobes become softer and fluffier. And in the case of other things, they create a water and dirt repellent effect. Silicones prevent the appearance of pilling on clothes and keep the fabric bright.

Which fabric softener to choose

Rule # 1 - shake up the rinse aid

If it does not foam, then the manufacturer has not regretted cationic surfactants. The one where there is a lot of water foams. The effect of washing with it will be much worse.

Rule number 2 - choose an air conditioner without hazardous components in the composition

Look at the packaging, read the composition. If you find the following components, it is better to refrain from buying.

  • Chloroform

As part of the air conditioner, it is used as a solvent. It is a substance with a pungent odor. It is used in the production of pesticides. When interacting with oxygen, chloroform is split into chlorine, phosgene and formic acid. The evaporation of these substances provokes allergies or heart rhythm disturbances.

  • Benzyl acetate

This component is added to make aromatic essences. It is obtained by boiling benzyl alcohol with acetic anhydride. It is also used as a solvent for aromatic compounds of resins, varnishes and fats. It is part of the mosquito repellent. Benzyl acetate causes coughing and shortness of breath for no reason.

  • A Terpineol

It is included in the glue as a thickener. But this substance has a floral scent. As part of air conditioners, it is used to create floral fragrances. For example, lilacs, violets. This chemical can trigger Alzheimer's and stroke.

If there are fewer than five ingredients in the conditioner rinse, you are dealing with a good product. It should contain: cationic surfactants, silicones and perfume with a natural extract. If it says "identical to natural" and contains many components, do not buy.

Fabric softener: reviews

Svetlana writes about rinse aid Frosch baby: «I liked the Frosch brand for a long time. I used liquid powder. And once I bought a fabric softener, it was at a discount.

I always take conditioners based on the smell, not the text on the package. I’m not a chemist anyway, and these propylene don’t tell me anything. So: usually you open a bottle of chemistry and you don't expect a real smell of "Summer Thunderstorm" or "Mountain Meadows" from there. But this Frosch conditioner surprised me with its delicate and unobtrusive chamomile scent. After washing, a light aroma remains on the laundry, which does not irritate and does not make you want to wash the laundry again.

750 ml bottle. I wash often (5-6 washes per week), but it lasts, on average, for a month and a half. Convenient dispenser lid, pour half and enough. I am impressed by the fact that the company itself has been on the market for more than a quarter of a century. There is hope that if they were making bullshit, they would have gone bankrupt long ago and would not have been so popular. They are also a big plus for the lack of animal tests. It is made in Germany. And there, as far as I know, they take the text on the labels very seriously, so I believe».

Daisy1982 about Delamark Royal Powder: «I prefer detergents with an unobtrusive scent or no scent at all. I do not use fabric softeners often, and if I do, then only Delamark. I like their products for their quality and economy. And that's why:

- the rinse aid has antibacterial and disinfectant properties,

- gives the linen an antistatic effect,

- makes things even softer and more pleasant to the touch,

- simplifies the ironing process,

- suitable for manual and automatic washing.

The aroma is simply superb. From the bottle itself, the product has a more intense smell, but on things it is barely perceptible. Concentrated softener, for one wash with a load of 4-5 kg of laundry, half a cap is enough for me, about 20 ml».

Yulia Yasenko shares his impressions of Silan sensitive in his response: “I like this product, because Silan Sensitive needs to be added very little, but the effect is great!

It's good that this product is snow-white, then the laundry after washing is exactly the same white, delicate, fresh. The bottle has a convenient wide lid to dispense the right amount of liquid. And what a smell after washing with Silan! They become not only pleasantly smelling, but also pleasant to the touch, to the body. I add softener when washing adults and children's clothes. It does not cause allergies, irritation, redness. Recommend!».
