Dishwasher installation - connection (installation) of a dishwasher (Kiev), how to connect correctly

Dishwasher installation - how to do it yourself? The dishwasher connection is broken down into several steps.

Step 1. Receiving the dishwasher

Take your time to sign the successful delivery in the paper that the delivery representatives will give you. In your presence, they should unpack the dishwasher, and you should check its condition. Familiarize yourself with the exterior, make sure there is no damage to the case and the presence of spare parts, which are indicated in the delivery list. Check the condition of the internal parts by shaking the machine slightly. A knock, creak or rattle will indicate that something is wrong with the device. In such a situation, you have the right to refuse the dishwasher and demand a new one.

And only if you have no complaints about the quality of delivery, you can sign a receipt to the employees of this service.

Step 2. Installing the dishwasher

How to install a dishwasher? Before switching on, get rid of the fixing and sealing parts used for transportation. After removing these items, place the dishwasher in a pre-planned location. In this case, the distance from the machine to the drain point should not exceed one and a half meters. This is important for the reliable operation of the pump, which will pump water through the drain hose. If the length of the latter is more than 1.5 m, then this state of affairs is fraught with premature pump failure and failure of the entire apparatus.

When placing the machine on the floor, make sure it is stable at every point of contact with the surface. If you put a built-in dishwasher, then pay attention to the contact of furniture with the walls of the device. It should be tight.

Step 3. Water supply

To service the dishwasher, a separate tap water outlet is required. Sometimes it is equipped with filters for additional water purification, which do not allow large particles of rust, sand and other dirt from the water supply system. The separate filter outlet is self-cleaning without the need for a plumber.

After installing the filter, take care of the tap to cut off the water. Its absence will cause the apartment to flood if the internal filler valve in the dishwasher opens. Get a dishwasher equipped with a leak protection system. Different manufacturers call this system differently: AquaStop, Waterproof, Aqua-Control or AquaAlarm. If you are unable to use a standard 1.5m drain hose, you can extend it.

In addition to cold water supply, some manufacturers offer hot water connection. This function is used to save energy. But for our realities it is rather a minus. Hot water from our networks often contains a large amount of mechanical impurities. They quickly put the car out of action.

Step 4. Draining the dishwasher

No less important is the discharge of used water into the sewerage system. This is done by directly connecting the machine through a hose, either to the sink or directly to the sewer system. In the latter case, we use a special device in the form of a siphon and another drainage system, which makes it impossible to re-pump wastewater from the drain into the dishwasher.

For additional insurance, the drainage system from the device is organized so that the entry point into the sewer is lower in level than the drain hose itself. To do this, we fix the hose at a height of half a meter from the place of its connection to the wastewater. Then, making a bend, the drain hose is connected to the siphon. If this does not work with a small 1.5m hose, lengthen it. It is not recommended to use a hose longer than 3 meters, and the extreme limit of the length is 5m.

Step 5.Electrical connection

The dishwasher is connected to the network with a three-core copper wire, with a cross-sectional diameter of 2 mm. This is done by calculating the safety factor of the cable at maximum network loads. So that the machine does not fail, it must be protected with a protective circuit breaker (16A), which will turn it off automatically when the power reaches 3.6 kW. This will save your nerves and wallet in the event of a serious breakdown of the car, like any other equipment. It is necessary to connect such a circuit breaker in parallel to the already installed circuit breakers used on other devices.

Ground the unit. This guarantees operational safety. If you live in an old house, remember that grounding in such buildings is not done with the help of special buses, but is brought to zero phase on the electrical panel. Do not ground to water, heat or gas pipes. They are conductors that can burn your dishwasher. For example, if someone decides to patch up a plumbing with a welding machine. It is not recommended to plug dishwashers into outlets that use electric stoves.

For grounding, use three-pole sockets with contacts that are installed in the wiring of an individual apartment. Use an outlet that makes full contact with the plug.

Step 6. Starting the dishwasher for the first time

After everything has been checked, installed and connected, the dishwasher is started in idle mode. This is done in order to check the connection as well as the operation of the device. We do not load the dishes during running, but add detergents and regenerating salt to the appropriate containers.

Salt is added to control the hardness of the water, detergent is added to clean the work surfaces from dirt that remains during assembly. During the idle cycle, track the operation of the dishwasher is checked. For example - the work of electronics, the supply of water, its heating, the discharge of water into the sewer, the work of the filtering and other systems.

Independently at home, you can install, connect and use the dishwasher for its intended purpose without much hassle. By doing this work, you will save money without violating any of the manufacturer's warranty terms.

If you doubt yourself, then call professionals. They know exactly what to do and how to do it.

Helpful Hints When Using Your Dishwasher:

  • after completing one dishwashing cycle without starting another, try to close the machine door loosely;
  • regardless of whether your dishwasher has a system that prevents water leakage, after using the device, shut off the water flow to the dishwasher;
  • when completing work, do not forget to turn off the machine from the outlet, or the circuit breaker.
