HOW TO CHOOSE A NAIL FILE - what files are needed for a manicure

Many of us choose beautiful nail files, but "not all that glitters is gold." You need to choose the one that fits your nails. So first decide whether you have them thin or thick.

Try bending the tip of the marigold:

  • bends easily and does not hurt - it means thin;
  • bends with difficulty and you are unpleasant from this, you have thick nails.

Now let's place all the dots over the "Ї" and decide how hard the nail file you need.

  • For a dense nail plate, take a metal or diamond-coated one. The latter is a marketing trick. It is more expensive, but in fact it is still the same metal. Choose a fine grained one because coarse grains will delaminate your nails.

  • For thin people, a metal file is the enemy. It is too hard, because of this, nails can exfoliate. It is better to use glass, in extreme cases - polymer. They are convenient for filing corners. But they are overly fragile. Somewhere they crushed them harder, break.

Polymer nail files are worse than glass ones. There is practically no dusting on them - just a hewn top layer, like a metal file with slots. These do not file, but crush the nail. Glass and polymer differ in weight, the first is heavier.

For extended nails, an emery file (crumb) is just right. When choosing, look at its abrasiveness - this is the hardness of the file. Special spraying is measured in grits (the number of abrasive particles per 1 cm2). It is indicated on the packaging or on the product.

The higher the grit value, the softer the file. Two numbers through a fraction indicate the hardness of the spraying on one side and on the other. If it says 100/180, it means that one side has 100 grit abrasive, the other - 180 grit.

  • For nail correction, it is better to use files in the range from 160 to 180 grit.
  • 180/240 - medium hard files. They are also suitable for thin nails.
  • The most delicate - 300/400 grit. These cope with irregularities and stripes on the nail. Just don't get carried away: polishing will thin the nail plate. It is better to "polish" with a nutritious oil. It strengthens fragile marigolds.

How to disinfect nail files

Spray antiseptic on both sides → place on a paper towel → dry.

Buff in the form of a bar ideally "directs" shine and smoothness.

This tool has four working surfaces:

  • one you will shape the free edge,
  • the second smooth out the unevenness of the plate,
  • third - polish it,
  • and lastly, add shine.

The sequence of actions will help determine the numbers on each side.

Types of nail files

The file material has its pluses and minuses.
