Mafia II at a glance

Mafia II is the backstory for the first part of the game. The plot of the game takes place in the late 40s and early 50s of the XX century. The time after the war has been called the second dawn of the mafia in the United States. In this difficult and difficult time, our hero Vito is forced to fight for his place in the family. As in the first part of Mafia, the game has a very confusing and dynamic plot, which was not disclosed until the very release of the game. When completing missions, the protagonist's assistants will be both the faithful time-tested Colt 1911 and TommyGun 1928, as well as other weapons that were in service with the criminal gangs of those years (there are 10 types of weapons in the game in total).

The location of the game is transferred from City of Lost Heaven (in the first part of the game) to a new city, in some places reminiscent of Chicago, but in the game it was marked by Empire City.

The main character of the game is named Vito Scaletta, he ended up in the mafia for his own reasons. He was the son of a Sicilian emigrant, grew up in poverty and was very envious of people who had power and money, and was determined to achieve a high status in life. After an unsuccessful robbery, he ended up in military service in Europe, after the end of the war he returned to America - this is where the story of the game begins. He became one of the members of the mafia with the help of his best friend - Joe Barbaro, who, while Vito was in the army, was engaged in petty theft and robbery on behalf of the mafia. The first missions show us the irresistibly beautiful landscape of the snowy Empire City. Both heroes are strong figures in the plot of the game, although only Vito is available to us to play. The game has a large number of missions, passing which the player becomes interested in the subsequent turn of events. In them you will rob shops, hide from the pursuit, arrange showdowns. In the game, you can do absolutely anything you want: steal and crash cars, rob shops, fight on the street and much more.

The end of the 40s and the beginning of the 50s in the United States is called the golden age of the automotive industry, at this time new concepts and classes of cars begin to be produced. In the game Mafia 2, we meet many cars of different prices and configurations. The game has more than 50 vehicles, ranging from buses and trucks, and ending with limousines and convertibles, especially for fans of the game Truckers, there is a large tractor in the game. Unfortunately, in the second part of the game, you cannot ride the train (as was available in the first part). The good news in the game is that it gives you the opportunity to freely travel around the city literally from the first minutes of the game, since in the first part of Mafia you had to go through the taxi driver's missions. The well-developed physics of the game is very pleasing (it was not in vain that it took 5 years of work to develop the game), cars have fairly realistic damage when hitting, shootouts and street fights also look realistic. When driving on roads, dust and dirt settle on the car; you can wash it off in a car wash, which can be found at any gas station. It is also pleasing that you can improve or repaint the car by driving into a car repair shop.

The graphics core of the game is commendable. Good detail, crisp textures, excellent special effects, all this will appeal to any player. The graphics in the game maximally convey the atmosphere of those times.

The police system has been significantly improved. So only for major offenses, the police will issue a fine, but seeing, for example, how you steal a car standing on the side of the road, the cops will immediately be interested in you. If you commit a serious offense, the cops are sure to call in support and cordon off the area. To avoid persecution, you can go to a clothing store, change clothes, and the cops will immediately leave you behind, or simply call your man in the police from a phone booth, and he will immediately close the case, but this will cost you much more, there is also an opportunity bribe the police.

There are many small actions worked out in the game: pedestrians read newspapers, smoke, etc. In a minor collision with another car, the driver will come out and swear at you. At the slightest impact, scratches and dents appear on the car. When you bump into a pedestrian on the street, he will apologize. If you killed a person, then in a few seconds the police will arrive at the scene of the murder.

Mafia II is a must-try game. This game is the best of its kind. Mafia II deserves respect from players all over the world. Everyone who plays it will find something interesting in it.
