HOW TO CHOOSE ELECTRIC SCOOTER - reviews, scooter for adults review

The most impressive thing is that the electric scooter drives itself! He pushed off with his foot, rolled the pad on the steering wheel - and off you go! With a "foot" impulse, the scooter accelerates confidently until it reaches the maximum.

In the characteristic, he has a maximum speed of 16 km / h and faster. Feels like "pretty fast." But this ride is not that fast, especially when the sidewalk is crawling downhill. However, pedestrians are left behind. And yes, they notice you before you overtake them: the engine hums and attracts attention.

Now about the main thing. There are three points to keep in mind when choosing an electric scooter.

Sometimes the electric scooter is discharged

One battery charge is enough for about an hour of driving in the "on the gas" mode. Then the "iron horse" noticeably withers away, and the former enthusiasm - as if it had disappeared. Of course, you can reach the nearest outlet "on foot", but this is not very convenient:

  • Firstly, due to the battery and engine located at the bottom, the footrest is located high above the ground. To push off the ground, you need to strongly bend the leg that is on the scooter;
  • secondly, it is not a light scooter, but a heavy contraption. The charging time is 2-8 hours (the timing is different depending on the model). So next time you won't have to ride soon.

In order not to be content with little when choosing an electric scooter, pay attention to the battery capacity and the range. Everything is standard here: the larger the battery, the more you can travel on a single charge.

  • Budget models have a battery up to 10 Ah, which allows you to ride up to 25 km.
  • Middle segment - up to 15 Ah.
  • The most expensive - up to 35 Ah, this is enough to rush up to 110 km.

Batteries are divided into two categories - lead and lithium.

  • Lead is much heavier than lithium, but they work even in freezing temperatures - 20 ° C.
  • Lithium lungs, however, discharge quickly even at -5 ° C.

So you have to choose: either light or frost-resistant. On average, the battery is rated for 250 charge cycles. When it dries up, you can buy a new one in the same place as the scooter itself.

Curbs and ladders - not for an electric scooter

Wide wheels imperceptibly “eat up” bumps, cracks and potholes in their path. And even moving off the curbs and jumping onto them would be fine, but the long wheelbase and low-hanging pallet with the battery do not allow: you cling to your belly.

In general, the scooter is tightly "sewn" and will not fall apart if you decide to stream on it (somehow mine had to carry two adults - and nothing, I did it). But this is inconvenient, it is heavy. My "horse" has a steel frame. For this reason, it is inconvenient to carry it along stairs and passages. The element of an electric scooter with aluminum and carbon frames is asphalt paths and compacted soil.

And yes, take a note: a comfortable ride largely depends on the type of wheels:

  • inflated reduce engine load;
  • solid ones are not afraid of punctures and wear out for a long time;
  • large wheels - better shock absorption;
  • smaller ones are more maneuverable.

The electric scooter "does not like" rain and puddles

You are not sugar, you will not melt, but the electric scooter in the rain can break. The motor and chain mechanism are not sealed against moisture and dirt, so deep puddles and heavy rain will damage the equipment. It is also not worth driving through harmless puddles, clothes will ruffle from splashes.

But when buying a scooter, take a look at the braking system. Of course, the brake works flawlessly. So you don't have to wash the soles on the asphalt. But this is because the iron horse is usually equipped with drum or disc brakes.

  • The former are relatively protected from dust and moisture.
  • The latter are easier to set up and regulate. They don't wear out as quickly.

Electric scooter: reviews

A ride on a self-propelled unit is a sea of emotions and impressions. Here's what our readers write about it.

Dmitry Yarovoy: «I drove the scooter to the tail and mane for an hour and a half. Maneuvered between parking posts and even tried to jump off the curb. After such a test drive, the device began to give up noticeably, suffocating during acceleration. There would be a twice as powerful engine and a slightly shortened base - there would be no price for it».

Sergey Zubko: «I was not tempted to buy an electric scooter for myself - I thought that an adult looked ridiculous on it. But it turned out that this is a completely different matter! He does not ride, but hovers. And the whirring of the electric motor turns passers-by and spreads into an admiring smile».

Anton Ivaschenko: «I quickly got tired of driving it. On the usual it is more interesting, because he is involved in the process, but here you can fall asleep. And the maximum speed quickly becomes boring, I want it even faster - this is probably also out of boredom. But overall, the thing is not bad. Of the objective minuses, I will only note that the scooter does not have an adjustable speed. Riding with a person walking next to you will not work. The scooter either overtakes or turns off, and then you have to move in jerks».
