Review ASUS K56 Notebook

I would like to present you a review of the K56 laptop from the Taiwanese company ASUS.

This laptop model can be safely ranked as an ultrabook, as the case is made in an ultra-thin style.

The processors are based on Intel Ivy Bridge technology, which gives this laptop a long battery life.

This laptop is equipped with a discrete NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M graphics card and an optical drive. This makes it wider in scope, in contrast to typical ultrabooks.

DESIGN

The cover of this model K56CM (K56CM-XX055D) is made of black painted aluminum, on which the textured name of ASUS is placed horizontally. At the top of the lid there is a plastic flap with a visor for easy opening of the laptop.

The decorative, textured pad over the top of the battery can easily be confused with acoustics, but this is just a design trick.

If you turn the laptop over, then on the front of the base you will see a specially designed hatch for upgrading the RAM. Opening the hatch cover gives you access to the SODIMM slots and hard drive. Also on the underside of the base, near the battery, are two speakers. By the way, with this arrangement of acoustics, the nature of the sound completely depends on the surface on which the laptop is located. This model is equipped with a lightweight, unbalanced battery with a capacity of 44 Wh (15 W, 2950 mAh).

There is a card reader and various indicators on the front end of the working panel. On the left side, there are 2 HDMI and D-sub video outputs. Also includes: USB 3.0, RJ45 network connector, radiator grill and charger socket.

On the right side there is a built-in optical drive, a combined audio port, two USB 2.0 ports, and on the edge of the end there is a Kensington lock, which is able to prevent theft of a laptop.

The power supply unit in ASUS K56 is very compact, it cannot be confused with chargers of other laptops.

The internal color scheme of the ASUS K56 laptop is silver-black. A small 15.5-inch TN-matrix with a resolution of 1366x768 is edged with matte black plastic, and the working panel is made in silver.

The tilt angle at maximum opening of the laptop is above average - this will expand the choice of a comfortable position for work.

KEYBOARD.

The keyboard in this laptop is island, chiclet. Each key is housed in a metal-bottom notch, giving the keys a stiffness. The keyboard layout is standard, like most mid-size ASUS notebooks.

TACHPAD

Despite the small size of the laptop itself, the touchpad of the ASUS K56 is quite large. The touchpad keys are touch sensitive and very sensitive to touch.

The working panel of the laptop is quite sturdy, and the top cover is reinforced with a metal plate, but it is still quite flexible. With a slight physical impact from the outside of the panel, streaks appear on the screen.

PERFORMANCE

This model ASUS K56 is produced in two modifications. The graphic card has become a distinctive feature. The ASUS K56CM laptop has a discrete NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M graphics card that supports the Optimus function. And the ASUS K56 CA model has an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 graphics card built into the processor. Both versions use Intel processors with a TDP of 17W with low power consumption.

The maximum configuration of RAM will be 8 GB, and the hard disk memory is 1 TB.

When testing ASUS K56CM with above-average configuration: 4GB DDR3-1600 RAM, Intel Core i5 3317U processor and 750GB hard drive.

The test result showed balanced performance and good 3D graphics. At maximum load, the laptop's battery life with a 44 Wh battery lasted 1 hour and 40 minutes. In reading mode, one battery charge lasts for 5 and a half hours.

TOTAL

ASUS K56CM is a 15.6-inch medium format laptop with built-in optical drive and NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M discrete graphics. This model is perfect for both home and office. It showed good results in gaming performance and long battery life.
