Review of the game JAZZ: Work for Hire.

JAZZ: Work for Hire.

Saving the Banana Republic.

Jazz: Work for Hire - this is the sequel to Jagged Alliance 2 with such an unpretentious and inappropriate name. The game was developed by GFI Russia. But what came of it, we will consider below.

Jazz's plot is pretty straightforward. Everything happened as usual. Murder, intimidation, falsification. All this became the reason for the coup in the tiny African republic with the precious name of the Diamond Coast (there are a lot of diamonds mined there). And now the brother of the legitimate (but legitimate?) President Richard Makkonen becomes the head of state. But how can this be? After all, everyone wants to be, so to speak, at the helm of power. And the deposed ruler decides to take a risky and desperate step. He decided to start a civil war in the country in order to regain his lost position. What does he need for this? Naturally, mercenaries, the units of which you will lead and direct on the right path. But before plunging headlong into the heat of the civil war, you need to undergo psychological testing. Questions, by and large, are stupidly ripped off from the previous part of the game. The old look is straight through the old cracks. And this is a little upsetting.

The scale of the events taking place in the game is also not happy. Some twenty settlements, connected by country roads, the roads are simply not adapted for fun meetings with old friends. And even more so, you will not meet any malicious bandits and gangsters. Microscopic polygons, on which it is not that there is nowhere to roam - to hide, will not work. And if you also take into account the fact that the favorite weapon of your opponents is grenades, and they throw them in huge numbers and almost across the entire map, then it will not be easy for you to survive. And it's hard to talk about organizing a coup in the country. But there is still a balance in the game. At least some, but there is. Although this is also a question. How do you like this situation? You shoot at the enemy point-blank, a burst from your AK, removes a minimum of hit points from the enemy, and then, angry, you take off a machine gun from your shoulder, go hand-to-hand and ... with one blow you beat your enemy to death. What a beauty! But, to the delight of fans of the genre, this happens only occasionally. And this is good.

The bad news is that the system of concealment and cover in the game exists as if it did not exist at all. So you want to hide your warrior behind a tree. It seems to have worked out, and then the fighter is dying due to an enemy bullet. It's good at least that enemies are just as difficult to hide behind some kind of trash can. Although your would-be warriors (by the way, almost immortal) may not see the enemy who has settled behind the breastwork. There the question mark will shine. But if you save and load again, then maybe an enemy soldier will already be standing or lying in the same place.

In all this mess you will be a little pleased with the world around you. Beautiful nature, rivers and lakes, not polluted by dust and exhaust gases. It is good to live in Russia, I apologize in the Diamond Coast. It's just a pity that most of the objects on the map for some reason cannot be used. Some stairs, towers, houses, and nowhere even "rummaging around" is impossible. It's a shame. I’m just wondering, by what principle were selected buildings for climbing, which are still there.

What can I say about the voice acting of this happiness? Nothing, so-so voice acting. Acceptable. You can live, although they could have done better, but the sound in periods resembles drum n bass from a deep and thick-walled cast-iron barrel.

Now let's return directly to the game. How to make money in Jazz. Very simple. In Jagged Alliance 2, diamond mines were the main source of income. And here everything looks clearly more interesting. If you want, seize train stations, airports and open your travel agencies.I think you won't want to earn money on additional assignments. Very boring and monotonous. For completing various missions, you will naturally be given experience. The enchantment system is exactly the same as in the Alliance. But things are better with weapons. You can safely buy it from a variety of merchants and "upgrade". Yes Yes exactly. On the good old AKM, you can safely put optics, an underbarrel grenade launcher and some other cleverly wise contraption.

If you are an ardent fan of the genre, then you will definitely want to buy this game. And buy. Basically, the game is an average, but still "playable" turn-based strategy.
