Nokia X2-01 is a typical budget solution of the Finnish manufacturer, which has a number of characteristic features. This is both a full-fledged keyboard and convenient use of social networks. There is no need to talk about the low quality of the photomatrix or the lack of support for third-generation cellular networks - the wrong price category, the wrong target audience. This is, first of all, a youth telephone (or a second telephone for calls). X2-01 works on the S40 "telephone" platform, i.e. the capabilities of the device are extremely modest. But for many, this device will become an opportunity to purchase a convenient high-quality device from a well-known manufacturer for relatively little money.
DESIGN, ERGONOMICS
The Nokia X2-01 comes with a charger and a headset with a 3.5 mm audio jack. For reasons of economy, they did not add a USB cable and memory card.
Nokia X2-01 looks calm. One can guess the features of the XpressMusic range, which had a significant success in the market several years ago. On the one hand, the design is outdated, on the other hand, not everyone likes the case a la iPhone. The X2-01, due to its angular body, seems to be a device with character. In general, the exterior of the model makes a good impression. The dimensions of the X2-01 are 119.4 x 59.8 x 14.3 mm. The all-plastic phone weighs 113 grams. Due to the width of the device and the shape of the back of the case, the X2-01 fits comfortably in the hand. The weight is balanced, so it is convenient to hold the device with one or two hands.
Four rows of keys and a 2.4 "QVGA (320x240 pixels) landscape display occupy almost the entire front of the phone. The screen has decent contrast and clarity. In sunlight, the information remains well readable. Of the controls the phone has, in addition to QWERTY- keyboards, joystick, 2 soft keys, call buttons, as well as buttons for quick access to the music library and mail client (to which other functions can be assigned.) All controls are of considerable size, they are ergonomic. They are made convex, which makes the keypad comfortable to use, accidental pressing is practically excluded. The appearance of the keypad visually increases the value of the phone.
On the left side of the X2-01 case there is a slot for microSD memory cards and a microUSB port. They are covered with a common rubber plug, which closes tightly. The top edge of the case houses a 3.5mm headphone jack and a charger connector. Unfortunately, the device lacks a separate volume control button. Of course, there is no separate button for the camera either. There is a microphone on the bottom edge.
The peculiarity of the rear part of the X2-01 is that it is difficult to distinguish it from that of any expensive modern Nokia model. In the upper part of the body there is a square VGA camera lens window, next to it is a barred external speaker. Everything is standard for Nokia phones, judging by its external features, you can't say that the phone belongs to the budget line.Under the back cover there is a 1020 mAh battery that can easily last more than three days, especially considering that it is simply impossible to actively use the phone.
In general, the X2-01 has good ergonomics. We are pleased with the presence of a standard headphone jack and a memory card compartment, which is located on the side, and not under the battery cover.
TELEPHONY
The S40 platform on which the Nokia X2-01 runs has a simple, intuitive interface. The phone works fast. Of the innovations, it is worth noting that the user can add application shortcuts to the desktop. But the platform's flaw, which has been around for a long time, is that the phone does not support multitasking and does not have a Smart Dial function. The X2-01 phonebook is familiar from previous Nokia models. It allows you to store up to 2000 contacts, each contact can be assigned up to 5 phone numbers.
There were no problems during the telephone conversation. Nokia X2-01 keeps the connection securely. The voice of the interlocutor is heard clearly. The microphone in the phone is sensitive, there is no problem with that. It is possible to record an active conversation on a memory card. The quality of the external speaker X2-01 is at a good level. It has an average volume level, but it is enough for almost any setting. The sound quality is in line with the price tag. There are no special complaints, this is the main thing.
Nokia X2-01 supports all common types of messages, including SMS, MMS, emails. The phone has a separate Communities app, with which the user can get quick access to Facebook and Twitter accounts. Correspondence, as you would expect, is carried out on Nokia X2-01 easily and quickly. You can even type on the QWERTY keyboard with one hand. The buttons have a clear movement, when you press a button, adjacent keys do not interfere, despite the fact that they are located close to each other.
ENTERTAINMENT, ORGANIZER
The use of this phone as a multimedia player is limited by the capabilities of the S40 platform. The photo gallery has basic functionality. No beautiful transitions can be expected in the slideshow.
The capabilities of the audio player in the phone are minimal. The situation is saved by the support of a wide range of codecs: AAC, AAC +, eAAC +, MP3, WMA, AMR-NB. The presence of a 3.5-mm audio jack in the phone further improves the situation, because instead of a mediocre bundled headset, the user can connect his favorite headphones. Nokia X2-01 is quite suitable as an audio player, for example, at a picnic, if you connect a small speaker system to your phone. The FM radio is working fine and the headset cable is used as an antenna.
The capabilities of the video player are very limited. It is capable of playing low resolution mp4 and 3gp videos.
As for the camera, in this phone it is installed for the sake of appearance. The camera takes pictures with VGA resolution (640x480 pixels) and records video with QVGA (320x240) resolution at 24 frames per second. There is no need to talk about the quality of pictures and videos. The camera settings available to the user are minimum.
It is possible to use Nokia X2-01 for web surfing, but the user faces a number of difficulties: download speed is limited by EDGE, browsing on a small screen with a low resolution is not convenient. Opera Mini supports multiple tabs and thanks to optimization, it makes pages load faster.
Other pre-installed applications on Nokia X2-01 are calendar, alarm clock, stopwatch, calculator, converter, notebook, voice recorder, etc. It makes no sense to dwell on their functionality in detail.

Nokia X2-01 is a typical budget solution for a Finnish company. This phone has a QWERTY keyboard, a standard headphone jack, a balanced design and a decent screen for the price.Considering how people in our country relate to Nokia products, we can assume that this phone will enjoy some success. But the problem with this Nokia device, like many others, is the price tag, which is on the verge of acceptable. X2-01 becomes another phone from this manufacturer, which has many strong competitors: cheaper Fly phones on the one hand, and more functional Samsung phones on the other.
