Positioning Nokia E52

In the Eseries line, the Nokia E52 takes the place of the simplest mobile device. But this does not mean that this mobile device can be called an ordinary smartphone from a Finnish manufacturer. Its position can be explained by building on its predecessor, the Nokia E51, which became a hit a year before the launch of the Nokia E52.

But time managed to put everything in its place, the main part of the audience chose Nokia E51 as a solution for business, a device for making calls and looked at the component of the device as a kind of appendage. The Nokia E52 phone will be a worthy replacement for its predecessor, the Nokia E51. The Finnish manufacturer, making a new replacement for the Nokia E51 smartphone, tried to keep all its features. These features include such characteristics as long battery life, convenient buttons, focus on telephone communication, high-quality body assembly. That is, the task was set to keep all the best from the predecessor Nokia E51 and go even further.

Over the past time, price segments in the mobile market have changed, and as a result - the new device began to play in the new price segment of $ 285. This device has a family of three smartphones - Nokia E52, Nokia E55, Nokia E72. The first two devices differ only in keyboards, the Nokia E55 uses a semiQWERTY keyboard, but this model is not available in all countries. The Nokia E72 has a full-fledged keyboard, and it is slightly similar in hardware to the hero of our today's review.

The Nokia E52 smartphone has the usual positioning, as it is a business device of the line, which is considered not only a device for a corporate audience, but also for a general one, where the buyer himself chooses a mobile device, and not corporations buying it for them. This phone is ideal for those who make a lot of calls, occasionally take pictures, use Internet access, check mail and work with office documents. In short, the device is all in one, with good multimedia capabilities. This smartphone is an extremely balanced and cost-effective solution. The smartphone is aimed at both male and female audience, but nevertheless, the main audience of buyers of this smartphone will be representatives of the male gender.

Appearance, dimensions and control elements of Nokia E52

The main material for the construction of the case is aluminum, it was used to preserve the mass of the device (98 grams). In smartphones Nokia E51 and Nokia E72, stainless steel was used as a material for manufacturing, metal, quite tangible in the hands, cools and gives a sense of reliability to the body of the device. There is no such sensation from the Nokia E52, the battery cover is made of aluminum, it has a logo on it, which allows you to determine that the cover is made of aluminum. But it is not as tangible as the cover of the Nokia E72 smartphone, its thickness is minimal. The design of the Nokia E52 smartphone is intended to emphasize the fact that aluminum was used in the manufacture of the device: a navigation button with a ribbed surface, a bezel around the camera eye, all of this is made of metal. But the impression of this mobile phone is somewhat ambiguous, you can feel it, and you can see the plastic parts of the upper and lower parts of the case, the rim around the keyboard unit, despite the fact that it has a chrome surface, is also made of plastic.

I have a double impression of the Nokia E52 body, on the one hand, during a month of using this device, I cannot complain about the poor quality of materials or, but the poor build quality of the mobile device. The first impression from the plastic parts was unpleasant especially from the side surface. The color of the case is such that it seems not just matte, but the impression that it is made of paper. This combines it with the metal body parts. For some reason, it seemed to me that in a pocket with metal keys, these very parts of the case would quickly scratch and lose their shine. But it didn't work out. The plastic is quite durable and scratch resistant.

The battery cover has a texture with a maximum line pitch. He took the smartphone several times with sticky hands. After that, spots appeared on the lid, which is quite logical. In order to get rid of them, it is enough to rinse the lid or just walk around with the smartphone for several hours and the stains will disappear by themselves. For a month of use, the phone went through various scrapes, but the appearance remained the same. The device can really be called one of the representatives of business phones, the device is good for active use in any conditions.

The device is available in two colors - golden and dark gray, although the first color option I would call bronze. These both color solutions look quite decent, although the golden color apparatus is more suitable for the representatives of the beautiful half of humanity. Although after a while, other color options for the Nokia E52 may appear, for example, in black. These can be both additional solutions and operator options for a mobile device.

Another point on which I would like to focus my attention. In the build aspect, I was able to test several mobile devices and they differ a lot in build quality. In my device, when squeezing it in my hand, creaks are heard, the body walks a little, which creates an unpleasant impression. In several other devices of the same model, such problems were not observed. After consulting with representatives of Nokia, I found out that in the first batches of these smartphones there really were such problems, but a small number of devices suffer from this, each of which can be repaired free of charge at a service center under warranty. At the moment, there is no such shortage in the new batches of this smartphone. Therefore, I advise you to check this part of the case before buying this smartphone, it is easy to squeeze the device in your hand, and you will immediately understand whether this problem has spread to the device you are buying or not. If this problem exists in your device, then you will hear a slight creak of the device, and the bezel around the keyboard will walk.

After the negative points, I would like to dwell on the positive points. In technical terms, this device, like the Nokia E55 smartphone, is one of the smallest on the mobile market. Its dimensions can be compared with such models as Samsung U100, Motorola RAZR. The task becomes even more difficult when you tear off the back cover, and you see that the battery takes up the largest part of the mobile phone. And the question arises, where is the hardware component of the smartphone itself hidden here? For a smartphone based on the S60 platform, this is an indisputable achievement, since today there are very few such miniature solutions on the mobile market, especially on this platform. This is not the smallest smartphone, which is not bad, its dimensions are 116x49x9.9 mm. It fits comfortably in the hand, its width is close to ideal. Due to its minimal thickness, the device can be easily hidden in a jeans pocket, where it will not protrude.

Remembering the Nokia E55, it should be noted that the models are similar in appearance and functionality. They differ only in that the Nokia E55 has a semiQWERTY keyboard. And as a result, the localization of such a keyboard for many languages will be difficult, because of this, the smartphone does not go on sale in some countries, and Ukraine is no exception from this list.

On the right side there is a rocker button, which serves to adjust the sound volume, a key for launching voice functions, as well as a key for launching a camera. The buttons are large and easy to use, accidental pressing is excluded. All keys are chrome-plated to match the body color. At the top there is a button for turning on and off the mobile phone, here is also a 3.5 mm audio-out for connecting wired headphones. On the left side there is a microUSB connector.

Screen Nokia E52

The display characteristics are completely the same as those of the Nokia E75, but in comparison with the predecessor Nokia E51, this is a huge step forward. In the predecessor, the display diagonal was only 2 inches, while in our device they have a diagonal of 2.4 inches. For a device with a smaller size, this difference is a real achievement.

The display has a QVGA resolution (240x320 pixels and physical dimensions 36x48 mm). The matrix is capable of displaying up to sixteen million color shades, the image on the display comes out bright and clearly distinguishable in various conditions. The display behaves well in the sun thanks to the mirrored lining.

In general, the impression from the display of Nokia E52 is positive, the device is not bad in this respect. The display can fit up to eight lines of text and up to three service lines. In some modes, up to fourteen lines of text can be displayed. The font is pretty well legible.

In the phone settings, you can enable automatic change of display orientation, it can work in all applications. I'm not sure if this function will be so necessary for users, very often the orientation changes when working with a smartphone on the go, which is not very good. This is most likely a disadvantage. Here, everyone will choose for themselves, but by default, automatic change of display orientation is disabled.

You can turn off the ringtone or alarm sound in the phone by simply turning the device upside down, this feature is standard for all devices of the Finnish manufacturer.

Keypad Nokia E52

Full of impeccable delight. Among the number buttons, this device is different and stands head and shoulders above these models.

The function buttons are made of aluminum, which makes them very pleasant to work with. The navigation button is also made of aluminum, it is quite good in size, and has ribbed edges, which makes it even more pleasant to work with it.

The backlighting of the keys is quite bright. Unfortunately, in the dark, the backlight merges with the gray color of the keys (in the gray solution), which makes the characters hard to distinguish. I didn't really like the gap between the case and the keyboard unit, you can see the light in it, which gives the impression of sloppiness, but this is only in my opinion. Perhaps some users will simply not pay attention to this.

There are two buttons on the case for working with the calendar and messages. By default, they are programmed to launch the calendar and mailbox. The keys support short and long presses, that is, the user can choose up to four actions independently, which is pretty good.

Battery Nokia E52

The kit with the smartphone includes a lithium polymer battery with a capacity of 1500 mAh. According to the manufacturer, the battery is capable of up to eight hours of talk time and up to twenty-three days of standby time. In the mode of playing music, the phone can work up to forty hours.

Under average loads, the smartphone worked for about five days in the conditions of Kiev cellular networks.

It takes about an hour and a half to fully charge the battery.

Memory in Nokia E52

The phone has 128 megabytes of RAM, after downloading about 32 megabytes is available to the user (which is pretty small if you compare it with the same Nokia E72). However, the smartphone is not quite demanding, this is largely due to the updated applications, primarily the Internet browser, while its gluttony of resources has been significantly reduced.

The phone has about 60 megabytes of its own memory, in which you can store any data.

The phone supports microSD memory cards, hot swapping of memory cards is also supported, but in order to get to the memory card you need to remove the cover, a 1 gigabyte memory card is included with the mobile device. The phone can work with memory cards up to 32 gigabytes without any problems.

Performance

The hardware of the smartphone is based on a completely new platform, and the device is also equipped with an ARM11 processor that has a clock speed of 600 MHz. It is a substitute for the naked eye: fast navigation through menus, colorful visuals without brakes, fast launch of programs. The smartphone has no problems with the speed of work, although some issues are caused by the power saving mode. So, by minimizing several programs, you can safely continue to work with other features of the phone. After a while, previously launched applications go into so-called hibernation, from which they cannot be launched instantly, while the smartphone starts to think a little. This is especially true for programs that are related to working with the network. Also, when working with this smartphone, I found an unpleasant moment, from time to time the phone thinks that there is not enough RAM and forcibly closes running programs. This is especially the case with minimized Java games, and standard ones are no exception.

Communication capabilities of the Nokia E52 phone

USB... When connecting the USB cable, the phone will prompt the user to choose one of three modes of operation with this mobile device, namely:

Data Transfer (Mass Storage USB) - in this mode, you can work both with the phone's memory and with a memory card, while installing additional drivers or software is not required;

PC Suite - the mode is intended for working with the phone through the PC Suite program;

Image Print - normal printing of pictures.

The average data transfer rate over a cable is about two megabits.

Bluetooth. The phone has a Bluetooth 2.0 module that supports the most needed connection profiles today.

Wi-Fi... This smartphone has Wi-Fi support. It supports all current security standards. The Universal PnP (UPnP) standard is also supported, which is not surprising because this smartphone belongs to the E-series. The wizard for working with Wi-Fi networks is implemented quite conveniently, work in the background is supported, both manual and automatic network search are supported.

Camera Nokia E52

The phone has a 3.2 megapixel camera module with CMOS, but no autofocus, this module has a fixed focus. The solution is cheap, but it gives good quality images in almost any environment.

The disadvantages of the module include the absence of a shutter, which is why the camera's peephole quickly becomes covered with prints.

Geotags are supported, this is when, when shooting, the place where the photo was taken is added to the description of the photo. Your phone must have GPS enabled for this feature to work properly.

The device has a 20x digital zoom. However, it is divided into Standard and Advanced digital zoom. In the latter mode, the maximum value is reached, but the artifacts in the photographs are clearly visible. Using normal digital zoom will reduce artifacts in images. Considering that such scaling can be done in almost any graphics editor, there is no point in using the extended zoom.

The flash can operate in one of four modes: automatic, on, off, or with red-eye reduction. For photography, a timer is supported, which can be set for 2, 10 or 20 seconds. The device allows you to take pictures in series, that is, three at a time, which is quite convenient especially when shooting fast-moving objects. BestPic from Sony Ericsson was taken for the idea of this function, which offered more advanced features.

Pictures taken with the Nokia E52:

Video recording. The video recording mode has much fewer settings than the photo mode. There are only two modes for shooting - automatic and night. The maximum video resolution can be 640x480 pixels, while the video is recorded in mpeg4 format, you can turn off the soundtrack in the camera (there is no adjustment of the recording quality in the camera, everything is traditionally 15 frames per second). The length of the recorded videos is limited only by the free space on your memory card. When shooting in maximum resolution, 4x zoom is supported, and in QCIF resolution it is 8x, but the video will be recorded in 3GP format.

Software component of Nokia E52

Like all devices of this series, our smartphone is based on the S60 platform. Some of the features that were first used in the devices of this line became standard for all smartphones of the Finnish manufacturer, and some became unique and were no longer used in other smartphones. In terms of functionality, our smartphone is completely similar to Nokia E71, if you look at the basic capabilities of some programs. But this device also has a lot of small changes and improvements, which will be difficult to notice only for those users who have never used smartphones of this line.

Let's take a look at the significant and minor changes to the capabilities of this smartphone in order to give you an idea of the capabilities of this device.

Nokia E52 email client

This smartphone has a standard mail client Nokia Mail version 2.0, it is completely similar to that used in the smartphone Nokia E75, the main difference of this version of the mail client over others is html support when reading or writing mail. But besides all this, there are other nuances that are worth dwelling on.

With the help of the wizard for creating a new mailbox, you can easily configure your smartphone to work with your mailbox. If your mailbox is located on one of the well-known mail servers, for example, Gmail or Yahoo, then when you add a new mailbox, you just need to enter your password and mailbox address and the whole application will automatically configure it. And from this moment you can work with your mailbox.

The application takes information about setting up mail servers from the proprietary service email.nokia.com, which contains the settings of many well-known mail services.

When connecting to a mailbox, a corresponding splash screen appears, as well as an icon in the upper right, which signals this. Unfortunately, this mail client does not have any indicators of the loading of letters, their total number, the ability to download individual letters, and so on. The simplicity of the application sometimes makes us call it ascetic (although it will obviously be better than the standard ones that were used in the previous models of the Finnish manufacturer).

The set of settings is standard. In this case, the Play icon appears next to the links, all links from letters can be opened in a new window, in a standard browser.

But let's see how the html works. And so, letters containing html are always opened in a new window and the engine of a standard browser is used to view them. This is where the whistle-blowing begins with all the encodings. Which are different from Unicode or slightly different in the header or inside the letter. For example, in standby mode, the last message and a line from it appear on the display. For letters written in Russian, here, as a rule, everything is fine. But it's not a fact that this letter will be displayed correctly when viewing its body through the browser engine. This is the kind of Russian roulette here, lucky or unlucky. Unfortunately, the Finnish manufacturer is once again stepping on the same rake in application localization. Most of the applications and functions from the Finnish manufacturer are poorly localized, they constantly have problems with encodings. It is impossible to change the encoding in this mail client. And this is a disadvantage for many local markets in which not Latin, but ionic alphabetic designations are used.

It's even funnier here for networked mailboxes. For example, when you open a direct mail in the form of html in the same Gmail, you can read it in Russian without any problems. In the list of letters, it can also be displayed normally, but it is worth opening it in the browser as html and then problems with the encoding appear.

The fact that this mail client was made specifically for QWERTY devices is confirmed by the fact that it contains letter labels that serve for quick access to certain functions of the mail client. They are quite handy, but they are not available in other phone programs. For example, I expected to see them in the organizer, where their presence would be more justified, but I could not find them there. It's a pity.

The client has support for POP3 / IMAP, remote synchronization and many other features. But, unfortunately, for a demanding user, the capabilities of this mail client will not be enough, so it makes no sense to use it as the main mail client. If the Finnish manufacturer did not advertise the client's capabilities in this way, then I would pass him by, as for me, the manufacturer could create something more interesting for a business audience.

The client supports the Push function, thanks to which the client can automatically detect the presence of new mail on the mail server. Of course, we can say that the implementation of the function is far from ideal, technically it is not very correct. But the fact is, for a mass audience such an implementation is considered quite normal, it suits most users.

Desktop... The desktop has been slightly redesigned. At the bottom there are three icons for events, missed calls, messages, and so on. If there are no events, the icon disappears from the desktop. When you select an icon, a pop-up window appears on the display with the corresponding information. Everything is quite simple and convenient. Compared to the same Nokia E71 smartphone, the information on the desktop is displayed differently. So, no information from messages is shown, except for the name of the subscriber and the phone number.

You can put up to fourteen application shortcuts on the desktop, which is pretty good. Let's add two Mode modes here, and this number increases a lot.

Mode. This is a virtual desktop. The user can create several virtual tables and apply different themes, backgrounds, shortcuts, and so on to each. For example, during working hours you need to always have shortcuts for office applications and other work tools on your display, and in a regular music player and other multimedia applications. It takes about 6-7 seconds to change one desktop.

Phone book. Right on the desktop, you can press one of the letters on the keyboard, and a list of your contacts will immediately appear, in the first or last name of which there is the letter you typed. You can also use a more traditional type of search for contacts, in the list of contacts to search for names by the entered letters.

Subscriber groups differ in their capabilities. For groups, you can enter a number for voice conferences, a password or a PIN code. This feature will be extremely useful for corporate users. For each of the groups, you can set a specific ringtone, but not a logo.

For groups, you can make a Call to many call, in this case, your phone organizes a conference call, with all the subscribers who are in the group to which the Call to many feature was applied.

In the general list, there are no representations of names, it is always the first and last name, in addition, sorting by all these fields is supported. There are no more additional display options. For example, you cannot make it so that only one phone number is displayed. At the same time, when you press the right arrow of the navigation key, you can call up a drop-down menu, from which you can quickly make a call and send a message. The list of items will differ depending on the numbers added. The image that is assigned to the subscriber, when you view the subscriber account in detail, this image is displayed as a small rectangle.

The set of fields for each of the records is standard, but a better breakdown of the address has appeared, including a set of various indices.

The calendar. Functionally, the calendar has not changed in any way. Only the view has been changed, in which both the calendar and events for the current day are visible. For a to-do list, if there are a lot of tasks, they start to be summed up, and their total number is displayed in general form. When viewing events for a week, they are displayed as in MS Outlook. The changes are pleasant, but not very necessary. Otherwise, everything is the same as in the Nokia E75.

Entering text. The phone has the ability to specify two languages for text input, the first is the main, and the second is additional. While typing, you can quickly change the keyboard layout, which is pretty convenient. Text input using T9 dictionaries is slightly different, it can guess letters in several languages at once, in our phone in Russian and English. At first it seems like a very inconvenient decision, but over time you get used to it and in the future you simply cannot do without this opportunity.

Voice functions... Surprisingly, one of the major updates to the Nokia E52 was simply ignored by some. Although the smartphone is to some extent unique in this aspect and offers completely new possibilities, especially for those users who very often speak while driving without being distracted from the road.

This phone retains all the standard voice dialing capabilities. The voice dialing menu is invoked by long pressing the call key, the built-in synthesizer can recognize names in the phone book, there are voice prompts, in a word, everything is commonplace here. So what are the new changes?

The Application menu contains the Voice Functions icon. When opening the program, the application will prompt the user to record three commands, and with his own voice, and here the synthesizer does not play any role. These commands sound like Start, Stop and Cancel. Commands can be written in any language, the main thing is to repeat each one three times. Next, we minimize the program, and we see that a new icon has appeared on the desktop, opposite which is the inscription “Start Voice Functions”. The application is an analogue of the Magic Word program that was used in phones from Sony Ericsson, where you need to say a passphrase to start voice control of the phone.

After pronouncing the phrase, the phone is immediately ready to work with our voice. He can be asked to call a subscriber from the phone book, read aloud an e-mail or SMS message. While reading a message, the user has the opportunity to reply to the sender of the message being read, and navigation is supported, where you can read messages one at a time. To read messages, the Message Reader engine is used, which has not changed in any way.

In order not to listen to all messages in a row, you can find the subscriber's account in the phone book and read all the messages and letters that he sent you.In the event that the application does not accept the person's command, it is necessary to cancel it and say it from the very beginning.

This function is explicitly made for use in a car. Judge for yourself: without headphones connected, the application activates the speakerphone mode, which cannot be turned off, it is almost impossible to talk while holding the phone near your ear in this mode. This function cannot be kept on permanently, since the battery is discharged very quickly, and the smartphone constantly notifies the user with a voice that he is ready to work.

When used in a car, this feature has shown itself to be the best. As part of the test, I decided to call my friend, and then read all the messages that he sent me, create an MMS message and send it to him. In the first few minutes it was somehow unusual, the smartphone repeated all commands into the earpiece and offered voice prompts. After two minutes, the feeling of novelty disappeared, and I managed to dashingly work with this function.

The Finnish manufacturer was the first to offer the integration of voice capabilities, which they had before, and they did it quite well. I believe this opportunity has a successful future.

Font Magnifier... This program was taken from Nokia Beta Labs, and has become a typical distribution application, as many users liked it. In the program, you can change the font size of the menu, it can be either increased or decreased. Quite a useful application that had to be made standard from the beginning in this line of smartphones.

Office programs. Business audiences will be interested in the Intranet program, these are VPN client settings.

To work with office documents, the QuickOffice software is still used, which upset me, although for some users this will be quite enough. The phone comes preinstalled with version 5.3, which can be upgraded to version 6.2 for free. The application is fully functional, you can not only view office documents, but also edit them.

The phone has a preinstalled ZIP archiver, dictionary, and an application for viewing PDF files. The search program can be displayed on the desktop, by the way, it has version 4.0. The phone also has regular notes and Active Notes. In the dictionary, you can view not only the description of words, but also hear their pronunciation. Using the Advanced Call Manager program, you can use your smartphone as an answering machine, as well as filter incoming calls by black and white lists, in a word, the program expands the standard functionality of a smartphone.

Data encryption. In this smartphone, it became possible to encrypt data both in the memory of the memory card and in the memory of the smartphone. Thanks to this, you can get rid of the trouble if your mobile phone falls into the hands of an inexperienced user. On the other hand, if you forget your password, you will not be able to recover accidentally deleted data. But this drawback is standard for all such systems.

Musical possibilities... Considering that the smartphone has its full analogue in the XpressMusic line, namely the Nokia 5730 model, there is a music chip, that is, the quality of music playback is at the level of smartphones of the Finnish manufacturer's music line, this smartphone is the first device in this series with a music chip. Or the second one, depending on which one is considered the first - after all, the Nokia E72 smartphone also has a built-in music chip. The phone can become a full-fledged replacement for an MP3 player, since it has a 3.5 mm audio output.

Browser... The phone has an updated version of the proprietary Internet browser (7.1), and now non-touch mobile devices are as similar as possible to their older brothers. So how are they different? For users, this is a faster opening of Internet pages, work with more complex pages, and so on.It is also possible to customize the pop-up toolbar in the browser. Place shortcuts as you like. The phone also has digital shortcuts to control the browser.

Cards. The phone has preinstalled kata of version 3.0, it also has a built-in compass, which is used for more accurate navigation on the maps. The smartphone comes with unlimited pedestrian navigation, as well as a trial version of car navigation with which you can work for ten days, after which you will need to purchase software for further diligence.

Help... The app is a guide to using the capabilities of your smartphone. Nice interface, detailed descriptions of individual features. Although some paragraphs have incomplete text. But such a flaw was noticed only in the description of Voice Functions.

Games in Nokia E52

Despite the fact that this smartphone is positioned as a solution for a business audience, the manufacturer has found a place in it for entertainment. Therefore, you can find games in the phone, there are two of them, the first is a collection of fifteen solitaire games, the second is Tetris.

Competitors Nokia E52

Nokia E51

The predecessor of our hero loses in almost all parameters of our model. This also applies to the physical size of the matrix (in Nokia E51 two inches, and in Nokia E52 2.4 inches), module resolution (2 versus 3.2 megapixels), more powerful processor (369 MHz versus 600 MHz), battery capacity (1000 mAh against 1500 mAh). At the same time Nokia E52 is much thinner and more comfortable. Taking into account the fact that there is a difference of one and a half years between the releases of the two models, these differences can be called natural. As a result, it makes sense for owners of the Nokia E51 smartphone to buy Nokia E52.

Nokia 6700 Classic

This device is a classic candy bar with a simple, but at the same time stylish appearance. The key difference between this model and the Nokia E52 is that the Nokia 6700 Classic is not a smartphone, but a regular mobile phone. Therefore, the Nokia E52 smartphone has more capabilities due to the ability to install additional programs. Besides, the Nokia E52 is a bit more compact and can work much longer in the talk mode. One of the advantages of Nokia 6700 Classic is the presence of a five mega pixel camera module. These two devices have a GPS module, but the Nokia 6700 Classic does not have a Wi-Fi module.

Results of the Nokia E52 review

The quality of communication is at the level of other similar solutions of the Finnish manufacturer, there are no complaints about this point. The ringtone volume is slightly below average. The vibration signal is also average, which is why it is not always perceptible. There is only one speaker in a smartphone, it is located on the back of a mobile device, sometimes it can be muffled in a pocket by accidentally pressing a hole, in which case the call is almost impossible to hear. But this happens very rarely.

What do we have in this smartphone? First, it is a great business solution. The solution in terms of the convenience of making calls, working with the address book, office documents, and so on. Plus, there is a battery with the maximum capacity. On average, one battery charge lasts for several days, despite the fact that I call a lot, surf the Internet and listen to music.

Secondly, the smartphone has a beautiful appearance.

Thirdly, this smartphone is equipped with one of the best keyboards, which will appeal to those who do not like QWERTY devices or are not yet used to touch keyboards. The phone has excellent ergonomics, but it's a pity that this cannot be said about its backlighting. The smartphone has two microphones, each of them, during a telephone conversation, analyzes external noises and removes unnecessary ones. Although sometimes Nokia E52 owners complain that their interlocutor has very poor hearing. This is not a hardware problem, but a software problem, due to the location of the microphones in this smartphone, it does not perceive well the voice of people with a certain timbre, which is why the phone simply removes some part of the speech as noise.

I can continue the list of advantages of this smartphone almost indefinitely. For example, sound control of a smartphone, which no one mentioned in numerous smartphone tests, is by no means a key function of a smartphone (as well as the third version of VoIP), but these changes are only for those users who understand a lot about them. They simply cannot be found in other devices. The mail client has also been improved, it has become much more convenient, and additional functions have appeared. The device is not only modern, but also one of the most powerful smartphones in the non-touch candy bar form factor. It can be safely called a classic in terms of performance, quality, and in terms of functionality this device has no analogues in many respects (for example, the Nokia E72 is an analogue, but only with a mechanical QWERTY keyboard).

Well, now it's time to find a fly in the ointment. I will not hide the fact that I really liked the smartphone, it's just a real bestseller. But let's talk about its drawbacks. Fortunately or unfortunately, the smartphone has two preinstalled Java games, they are quite interesting, and there is also an Ngage client installation file on the memory card separately. You need to install it yourself. Which is not very logical. In the main menu, you can also stumble upon the Downloads folder, which is long overdue to replace it with the Ovi Store. Moreover, the application menu already has the Ovi Store, it can be downloaded from Downloads. This situation is explained by the fact that the manufacturer did not have time to transfer everything from the Downloads folder to the Ovi Store application and because of which it was decided to keep them together for a while.

It makes no sense to consider the fly in the ointment I have laid out as a disadvantage, since against the background of the advantages of this device they are simply invisible. One of the innovations that influenced my perception of this smartphone is a changed combination of buttons for unlocking the phone (in previous devices, the keyboard was unlocked by pressing the left soft button, and then the key with an asterisk). Then in this it is necessary to press the left soft button, and then the right soft button. Although this is a trifle, it is very difficult to get used to it, especially for those users who already had a smartphone from this manufacturer before this model. After using many phones from the Finnish manufacturer, it is almost impossible to force yourself to get used to the new keyboard unlock combination. So I am suffering. What is the meaning of such a change, I cannot understand. There is a point of view that the manufacturer decided to make the smartphone more friendly for those users who have never used the manufacturer's mobile devices. The reason for this change is unknown to me. Perhaps you know the answer to my question?

The impression from this smartphone is purely positive, it is perceived from the first minutes of using the smartphone. For those users who are familiar with the smartphones of the Finnish manufacturer, or even better with this line, then this smartphone will not have any surprises for them, most likely only pleasant impressions. The smartphone turned out to be the best not only in terms of calls, but also in many other ways. The smartphone is not suitable for those users who like to write a lot of messages. For them, I would recommend taking the Nokia E72 smartphone, which is the best solution with a full keyboard.

It is impossible to call a smartphone mass or available because of its cost.

Unfortunately, one of the weakest points is the weak camera module, which spoils the whole impression of this smartphone, you can take pictures with it, but good image quality in any conditions is not guaranteed. This is the weak point of this device, in all other respects it is pretty good.

For those users who need a non-touch functional candy bar, the choice of this smartphone is one of the most optimal.

Pros of Nokia E52:

- quite a long time of work without additional recharging;

- easy-to-use keyboard;

- beautiful appearance and compact body;

- good processor.

Cons Nokia E52:

- weak camera module;

- small amount of memory in the memory card that comes with the kit.

You can buy the Nokia E52 smartphone in our online store at a special price.
