Review of the game Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights.

The concept of optional bonuses and useless but pleasant rewards for performing certain (not always obvious) actions has long won consoles. But on the PC - somehow it does not take root. And only frequent guests from parallel platforms sometimes remind that it happens like this too. As it does, for example, Juiced 2 is an incendiary arcade race, flavored in the latest fashion with NFS fetishes like tuning and "modding". On consoles, this is a very big game.

Approaching the triumphant finale is not achieved by sequential passage of each of the tracks. In order to advance in career mode, during each race you will need to complete a number of tasks. For example, driving an Audi off the track with a crazy woman at the wheel, speeding up to 180 mph on a straight road, reaching the finish line in third ... Other tasks are not so elegant. Complete the track without ever touching the bumpers. Don't slow down to under 50 mph when cornering - even with the automatic twists and turns.

Such game mechanics greatly diversifies the picture and allows you to choose fun to your taste - this, believe me, is much more fun than dull constant winding circles in order to come to the finish line first. There is, however, one problem with all this. Driving in juiced is like riding lame dogs. On ice. As long as you roll on a straight track or, slowly, fit into smooth turns, everything is fine - the cars are confidently holding the track. But as soon as you leave the track or turn the steering wheel a little harder than usual, the rear wheels go crazy, and soon you find the hood of your car hotly kissing some fence on the side of the road.

In a sense, the cranky control model is due to the fact that Juiced 2 is desperate to be like the arcade racing "Daytona" and "Sega Rally". Does not work. The controls are as flawed as they are inconvenient. For example, you cannot make a 360-degree turn, no matter how you tear all sorts of organs. It is impossible - and that's it.

Juiced takes place in the real world, where real cars of the most real car manufacturers drive on real tracks. Moreover, any of the machines can be updated and modified. I picked an Audi TT and lowered its suspension, then got some cool 18mm wheels and fitted a huge spoiler. Then he spent a lot of time trying to paint a phallus on the wing of his vehicle, collecting it from the logos of several mobile operators and the emblem of a tire manufacturer. But by giving the player such ample opportunities for creativity, you automatically increase their expectations. And Juiced 2 cannot justify them, no matter how hard it tries.
