HOW TO CLEAN FRENCH PRESS FROM PLAQUE AND DIRT

It is not difficult to clean the flask of a French press, but you will have to tinker with the piston. Disassemble the piston into parts by unscrewing the rod at the base.

Take a photo before disassembling - it will be easier to assemble in the desired sequence.

Fill the parts with citric acid and soak in boiling water overnight. Alternatives to acid are lemon and vinegar. Rub the circles with a wedge or soak in the essence, leave to sour.

Likewise, you can remove brown plaque from a glass bulb:

  • Put a bag of citric acid in a teapot and pour boiling water over it. Close the lid and set aside overnight.

  • Rinse with running water in the morning.
  • Remove the remaining dirt with a napkin.

Method number 2: get rid of plaque with soda and salt

Wipe the flask with a sponge dipped in vinegar and baking soda. And boil the piston parts in a solution of salt and soda. It removes the dirt as if by hand.

If there are brown marks on the metal, remove them with a toothbrush and baking soda. The villi penetrate deeply into the micropores, leaving no trace of the plaque. But the strainer is not worth cleaning, the stuck grains are poorly washed out.

Wipe the parts with a dry dishcloth and reassemble the plunger.
