Just a few years ago, the mighty of this world were delighted with the functional business device Nokia 6610. Who would have thought that in the near future there will be phones with the same capabilities, but presented already in the budget category

Design

Based on the appearance of the device, it is difficult at first glance to determine for whom such an interesting design is intended. The rounded edges and unusual keyboard will surely appeal to young people, the calm coloring of the case will appeal to middle-aged people, and the large, convenient "call" and "hang-up" keys will suit elderly people with low vision. So it turns out that the phone is universal and suitable for everyone who uses the handset exclusively for communication. The manufacturer deliberately did not make the phone too small or narrow, although it was quite possible for such a simple electronic filling. However, excessive miniaturization would make this model niche. Such a pipe would no longer be taken with them to the dacha, would not have been presented to grandfather for his anniversary and would not have been taken on a tourist trip. Now you understand why all your "assaults" about large sizes and "angularity" are simply out of place.

The body of the handset is made of silver plastic (similar to the Nokia 6670 and 6630 smartphones), and on the sides we see an insert made of gray plastic, just like in the latest smartphones. The keyboard is made in a really interesting way, the number keys are arranged in four slender rows, and they are rather convex. At first glance, there are no soft buttons at all, and only after a couple of minutes you will realize that they are combined with the body, which makes them almost invisible. The control keys are made similar to the Nokia 6230i, with the only difference that the central confirmation key is made separately from the main unit.

The screen is small here, and considering the size of the phone, it is even small. It looks similar to what we saw in the Nokia 3100 and 6610 models, although the manufacturer indicates the presence of 65536 colors. In direct sunlight, the colors are almost indistinguishable, but the text can be read.

The strap attachment is located unusually, but conveniently - at the bottom, and for some reason they decided to replace the traditional POP-Port connector with miniUSB - it's not bad.

Functionality

So, turn on the phone and see the interface traditional for the 40th platform, which is well known to us from Nokia 6100, Nokia 6610 and their successors. Interestingly, the manufacturer decided not to redraw the pictures of the main menu; instead, the icons used in Nokia 6230i were taken, only here they are not animated. The display shows the current date, time, operator logo and battery and network indicators on the sides. The main menu is accessed by pressing the center key, similar to other Nokia models. The manufacturer points out that the device has excellent messaging. We did not notice any significant changes, everything is as simple and convenient as possible, in fact, as it was before. There is a new item Flash message. Messages sent in this way come in the form of text, which is immediately displayed on the phone screen without the possibility of saving. On the whole, the function is interesting and unusual, it is often found in Nokia test phones, but in production samples it mysteriously disappears somewhere.

The MMS function will be very useful for the users of this device, because due to the lack of IrDA and Bluetooth in the device, this is a great way to replenish your music library with new melodies or set several pictures. The same thing, however, can be done using GPRS, this function is also supported by the phone, but there are some nuances here. In Nokia phones, the connection to GPRS via WAP will have to be configured not in the WAP browser menu, as it was before, but in the “Settings” section of the main menu, in the “Configuration” section. There you can install several access points and then select the one you need. In fact, this complicates the process a little, so if your operator does not send automatic settings for GPRS and MMS services, you will have to sweat a little.

Probably, many will be glad that there is a radio in the receiver. You can listen to it, as in other models, only if you have a headset that is used as an antenna. Well, you can listen both through headphones and in speakerphone mode. The device copes with its telephone functions perfectly, we somehow managed to stay in touch not only on the surface of the earth, but also in some underground passages. There is enough sound in the speaker in almost any situation, even if it is quite noisy around. As a last resort, you can always use the built-in speakerphone function. A standard BL-5C battery was more than enough for three days of operation without switching off at night with a large number of calls.
