Lenovo S750 Review

The Chinese company Lenovo is one of the five largest smartphone manufacturers in the world. She produces a large number of devices of various price categories. Some smartphones of the Chinese company have interesting designs, some have high performance, and some have a protective case. Lenovo S750 belongs to the latest devices.

Equipment

Lenovo S750 comes in a branded white cardboard box. In addition to the smartphone, it contains a USB cable, warranty, manual and charger. The smartphone has a very meager bundle. A developer could have put at least a stereo headset in the box.

Design

Most of the Lenovo S750 case is made of black plastic. On the front panel, the plastic, from which the frames around the screen are made, are glossy, and the "back" of the device, on the contrary, is matte. The appearance of the device was diversified by bright orange inserts that occupy all the facets of the smartphone.

The back panel of the device is made of corrugated plastic, so the smartphone does not slip out of your hands. Thanks to the bright edging of the device, it can be easily found in the grass or in the snow. So the user, even if he drops the device, can easily find it. Unfortunately, the body of the smartphone is not shockproof, so it can break if dropped on the asphalt.

The dimensions of the smartphone are 134.7x70.4x9.9 mm. It weighs 157 grams. Most 4.5-inch smartphones that are in the same category as the device in question are similar in size. So the dimensions of the HTC Desire 601 are 134.5x66.7x9.88 millimeters and weighs 130 grams, while the Huawei Honor 2 measures 134x67.5x10.5 millimeters and weighs 145 grams. The Lenovo S750 is 3.7 millimeters thicker and 27 grams heavier than its Taiwanese competitor. In addition, the body of the smartphone is 2.9 millimeters thicker than the body of the Honor 2 and 12 grams heavier. But the device stands out from its competitors in the presence of protection of the case from dust and moisture.

On the right side of the device, right on the orange insert, there is the inscription “Waterproof” in white paint, which means “waterproof” in English. This inscription informs users about the main advantage of the device.

The Lenovo S750 case is protected from moisture and dust in accordance with the international standard IP67. The smartphone can be submerged under water to a depth of 1 meter and held there for 30 minutes without any harm to the hardware "filling" and the screen. The owner of the device can safely listen to music or talk on the phone in the bathroom, without fear of splashes and condensation. The smartphone may accidentally fall into the snow and nothing will happen to it.

Of course, the body of the device is well assembled. The body parts are tightly fitted to each other, there are no gaps or gaps. When squeezing the smartphone, there are no squeaks.

When the unit is underwater, the touch screen does not respond to touch. If the user wants to take a picture underwater, he will have to launch the camera application in advance.

Location of connectors and buttons

On the top of the Lenovo S750 there are an audio-out hole, a microUSB port and a power button. The interface connector and the headphone jack are covered with a tight plug with a rubber gasket, which prevents moisture from getting inside the case.

On the right side of the device, you can see the paired volume decrease / increase key.

At the corners of the back panel of the smartphone, four screws are symmetrically located, which have a decorative character. At the top of the "back" there is a round camera lens, under which there is a flash. Below you can see the developer's logo painted in white. In the lower left corner of the rear panel there are two slots for the multimedia speaker.A strip of plastic between the slots of the speaker protrudes slightly forward so that the sound does not overlap with the surface on which the smartphone lies. The speaker sounds loud and high quality.

At the top of the front panel, you can see the earpiece grill, the front camera and the notification indicator. At the bottom of the panel are three touch buttons (Back, Home, Menu) and a microphone hole.

The earpiece speaker provides high quality sound. The interlocutor is heard loudly and clearly.

The back cover of the device can be removed. Under it you will find a battery pack, a compartment for a memory card and two slots for SIM-cards. The inner part of the case is made of orange plastic, like the sides of the device. The cover fits very tightly and is fixed with 12 slots. There is a rubber gasket around the card slots and battery to keep out moisture.

Screen

Lenovo S750 is equipped with a 4.5-inch display with a resolution of 960x540 pixels (qHD), with a density of 245 dpi. If you don't look closely, individual pixels on the screen are not visible.

The smartphone display is built on an IPS-matrix. It has good color rendering and wide viewing angles. With a strong deviation of the gaze horizontally from the perpendicular of the device screen, you can observe the deviation of colors in blue.

The touch screen recognizes up to 5 simultaneous touches. This is quite enough for comfortable work with any applications.

The Lenovo S750 display is protected from shocks and scratches by the toughened Gorilla Glass 2. The durable glass, according to the manufacturer, can withstand pressure up to 55 kilograms, while ordinary glass can withstand pressure up to 21 kilograms.

Outdoors in bright sunlight, the maximum brightness of the screen backlight will not be enough for comfortable work with the device.

Hardware platform

The "heart" of Lenovo S750 is the Mediatek 6589 processor, which consists of four Cortex-A7 cores, each of which is capable of operating at a clock speed of 1.2 GHz. The device uses PowerVR SGX544 as a video accelerator. The capacity of the RAM is 1 gigabyte, and the volume of internal data storage is 4 gigabytes, of which only 1.64 gigabytes are available to the user. You can expand the internal memory using a microSD card up to 32 gigabytes.

In the synthetic performance test AnTuTu Benchmark, the device scored 13606 points, which is almost the same as the Asus Google Nexus 7 tablet, which entered the mobile market in 2012. This is a high result for a smartphone based on MKT6589 platform.

In the Quadrant Standart benchmark, the device scored 3976 points, and in the Epic Citadel graphics test in High Performance mode, the device achieved 56 frames per second. The result of the smartphone in the NenaMark 2 benchmark was 53.2 frames per second.

Communications and interfaces

Lenovo S750 is a "two-SIM" device. One of the slots works in 2G (GSM at 900 and 1800 megahertz) and 3G (WCDMA at 2100 megahertz) networks, and the other only in 2G networks. One of the smartphone menu items is designed to work with SIM cards. Here you can give each mobile phone card a name, color, set a call melody. You can also set a "SIM", from which messages will be sent by default, calls and data transfer will be made. By tapping the Data Transfer icon in the notification bar, you can quickly switch between maps to use faster or cheaper mobile internet.

The smartphone has a Wi-Fi module of the IEEE 802.11 b / g / n standard, which provides a good quality connection. When the smartphone is connected to the Asus RT-N56U router, the data reception speed will be 91.8 megabits per second, and the data transfer speed will be 95.3 megabits per second.

There is a Bluetooth 2.1 (+ EDR) module in the device, designed to exchange files with other smartphones (tablets, desktop and laptop computers) and transmit sound to a wireless headset.

The built-in GPS module allows you to quickly determine the location of the device user "Hot" start occurs almost instantly, and "cold" takes almost one and a half minutes.

Software

Powered by Lenovo S750 running Android 4.2.1. The firmware is fully Russified. Among the supported languages is Ukrainian.

The device has a minimal set of software installed out of the box. In this situation, the internal data storage of the smartphone is not "clogged" with unnecessary applications, and the user can independently download any games and programs from the Play Market. And install them on your device.

The user can change the theme, desktop wallpaper and background image of the lock screen. The desktops contain folders, widgets, and shortcuts.

The smartphone interface is standard. At the top there is a status bar with a clock, icons for updates, missed events and various indicators. A notification panel with icons for quick settings of some functions (screen brightness, wireless modules, auto-rotate display, sound profile) is pulled out from the status bar. At the very bottom of the desktop are the icons of the most popular applications and the main menu entry icon.

The device is preinstalled with a simple and convenient explorer that allows you to sort the files stored in the device's memory by type (music, video, photos, documents, applications).

The pre-installed smartphone applications include a browser, video player, email client, voice recorder, gallery, calculator and music player.

Thus, the presence of a "bare" Android operating system in a smartphone allows users to install any firmware and launchers that allow them to personalize the smartphone and configure it for convenient operation. Although the set of applications preinstalled in the device is small, it includes all the programs you need to start working with your smartphone out of the box.

Camera

The rear camera resolution of the Lenovo S750 is 8 megapixels. There is a LED flash. In good light, the main camera of the device is capable of taking high-quality photos, including in macro mode. Night shooting is not the strong point of the camera of the device. The flash has a weak power, it is able to normally illuminate an object only at a distance of no more than 20 centimeters. At a longer distance, there is not enough light from the flash and the camera cannot focus.

The maximum video resolution in which the Lenovo S750 camera is capable of shooting is 720p.

The front camera of the device has a resolution of 0.3 megapixels. It demonstrates a very mediocre video quality, but it is enough for video communication via Skype.

Battery

The device is equipped with a removable lithium-polymer battery with a capacity of 2000 milliampere-hours. According to the developer, the smartphone can operate on a single battery charge for about 4-6 hours of talk time and about 150-200 hours of standby time.

In the synthetic test of autonomy of AnTuTu Tester, the device scored 700 points.

The time to fully charge the battery from the supplied charger is 3 hours.

In everyday use, the device works in standalone mode for 24 hours.

Output

Lenovo S750 is a high-quality budget smartphone with dual SIM support. Against the background of competitors, the device stands out due to dust and moisture-proof housing. Unfortunately, the device is produced only in black and orange colors.

The disadvantages of the smartphone include a weak LED flash, due to which photos taken in the dark are blurry and with a lot of noise.

The device does not impress with high levels of autonomy. But the device is equipped with a quad-core processor, which "pulls" most applications.

Separately, it is worth noting the presence of Gorilla Glass 2 on the front panel, which can not be found in every budget smartphone.

Lenovo S750 is suitable for people who lead an active lifestyle. You can talk on your smartphone in the rain or under the shower. The device can be taken with you to the bathroom without fear. The user may not worry if water from a glass accidentally pours onto the smartphone or if the device falls into the snow. This smartphone can be useful not only for those who like to talk on the phone in the bathroom, but also for those users who just want to buy a reliable quad-core smartphone with support for two SIM-cards.
