HOW TO FOLD THE INFLATABLE BOAT CORRECTLY - how to store a PVC inflatable boat, how to store and fold

Not sure how to store your PVC inflatable boat? F.ua will figure it out with you.

Unlike rubber watercraft, which need to be filled with talcum powder during storage, PVC shipboard vessels are much easier to maintain. Follow 3 simple rules for boat care.

1. Wash the boat:

  • Place the boat in an inclined position to flush out any accumulated dirt and debris between the inflatable boards and the bottom with a jet of water. Remember: when storing a dirty boat, the smell of fish slime, scales, etc. attracts rodents in winter;
  • rinse thoroughly with a solution of laundry soap or other non-abrasive cleaning agent. Do not scrub PVC stains with thinner or benzine to avoid damaging the boat material. Thanks to the soapy foam, you can easily diagnose the floating craft, since the bubbles formed will immediately indicate PVC defects.

2. Dry the boat:

  • open the valves and release the air inside the sides;
  • turn the bottom outward so that the boat is thoroughly dry;
  • pay attention to the corners and joints of the sides and bottom, which dry out more slowly. If you skip this moment, then the remaining moisture will provoke rotting and deterioration of PVC, which is especially important for old boats.

3. Repair the boat:

  • give the boat time to dry in order to glue holes on a dry surface;
  • do not ignore even minor injuries, as they will quickly become problem areas during the fishing season.

How to fold the inflatable boat correctly?

After thoroughly drying, disassemble the rowing boat:

  • bleed off the remaining air by first opening the valve caps and pressing on the cylinders;
  • remove the oars. Screw the plastic caps on the oarlocks so that the material does not rub during storage;
  • remove the side stringers by lifting the center deck section;
  • remove the rest of the flooring sections;
  • remove the shields from the bow and transom;
  • lay the boat upside down and wrap the side cylinders inward along the width of the transom;
  • fold the ends of the cylinders by the transom and press against it;
  • roll the boat away from the transom and put it in a cover (bag) together with the pump and hose;
  • Place the seat, paddles, stringer and deck sections in the other cover.

Folding a boat with an inflatable bottom is much easier:

  • bleed air and turn upside down;
  • put the board on which there are no valves on the bottom;
  • place the second on top of the first;
  • roll into a roll and place in a cover.
