Samsung Galaxy S Duos S7562 smartphone review

The Samsung Galaxy S Duos S7562 smartphone was officially presented in August 2012. Externally, the phone is similar to the popular Samsung Galaxy S III, but the specifications of smartphones vary. The Samsung Galaxy S Duos S7562 smartphone is a compact device with a colorful display that supports simultaneous operation with two SIM cards.

Appearance

The Samsung Galaxy S Duos S7562 is made in a classic Samsung style. The smartphone has a monoblock form factor, the corners of the body are rounded, and the smooth plastic from which the body of the phone is made (except for the battery cover) makes the model elegant and sophisticated.

Most of the front panel is occupied by a four-inch touchscreen display, above which there is a communication speaker, a "peephole" for the front camera and sensors (proximity and lighting). The Samsung logo is applied between the speaker and the display. There are three keys under the display - a central mechanical button "home" and two touch-sensitive keys "back" and "menu".

The back of the device houses a front-facing camera, flash, main speaker and logo.

The sides of the Galaxy S Duos smartphone are made of plastic and have a silver color. On the right side of the smartphone, there is a convenient lock / unlock button for the device and a slot for installing a microSD (TransFlash) memory card, covered with a flap. On the left side of the smartphone there is a volume rocker and an eyelet for a strap or any other accessory. On the bottom side of the gadget there is a microUSB connector and a slot for the built-in microphone, and on the top there is a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Thanks to the matte plastic, it is very convenient to hold the Samsung Galaxy S Duos smartphone in your hands. Even if you use the device for several hours in a row, it will not slip out of your sweaty hand. The smartphone does not creak or play. The build quality of Samsung smartphones is, as usual, at a high level. There are no problems with the battery cover, it is securely attached and, if necessary, can be easily removed in a few seconds.

Under the battery cover there is a 1500 mAh battery and a paired module for installing two SIM cards. "Hot" replacement of SIM cards is not provided in the Galaxy S Duos smartphone.

The dimensions of the Galaxy S Duos are 121.5 x 63.1 x 10.5 millimeters, and the model weighs 120 grams.

Display

The smartphone has a WVGA-display with a diagonal of four inches and a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The color rendering of the display is sixteen million shades. Despite the rather small resolution, as for modern smartphones, the pixel grain is not noticeable on the display. Sharpness, color quality and contrast are also not satisfactory. The viewing angles are quite good, but for matrices made using IPS technology, of course, this indicator is at a higher level. The only slight disappointment is the brightness of the display, which could have been higher. I would also like to note that the brightness level of the backlight in the smartphone is adjusted manually, since automatic adjustment, unfortunately, is not provided and the fact that the display of the device fades very much in the sun.

The display of the Samsung Galaxy S Duos phone has remarkable sensitivity. The work of multitouch and accelerometer does not raise any questions.

Adjustment of display settings is carried out in the menu item of the same name, where you can manually select the brightness level, set the backlight off timer and much more.

The display of the Galaxy S Duos smartphone is convenient for using all the functions that the device offers, including reading e-books, watching movies, photos, playing games and surfing the Internet.

"Filling"

The smartphone is based on a single-core Qualcomm MSM7227A processor with a clock frequency of one gigahertz (ARMv7 core). The graphics core in the Galaxy S Duos smartphone is installed Adreno 200, and the amount of RAM of the device is 768 megabytes, of which about 512 megabytes is available to the user. The built-in memory in the device is 4 gigabytes. To expand the built-in memory, you can use memory cards with a capacity of up to 32 gigabytes. Despite these characteristics, the smartphone has good performance and provides its owner with productive work with the majority of applications and games.

BY

Powered smartphone Galaxy S Duos running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The device has a proprietary Samsung TouchWiz user interface, which qualitatively improves the capabilities of a smartphone and includes an improved menu and excellent graphics.

The user can set a background image or desktop animation, selected from a list of standard images or downloaded independently from other sources.

For an easier and faster adjustment of the display brightness, a slider for adjusting its brightness has been placed on the notification panel, which, I think, is a very useful addition to it.

In addition to the brightness adjustment slider, the notification panel contains an icon that is responsible for changing the priority SIM card, shortcuts for activating / deactivating Wi-Fi, GPS, vibration, automatic display rotation and much more.

The user has seven desktops available. The number of desktops can be adjusted from one to seven. On each of the desktops, you can put shortcuts, widgets (calendar, to-do list, video player, etc.) or icons. Some widgets can be scaled, which is a nice detail, but, unfortunately, this function is not available for all widgets.

On the Galaxy S Duos, you cannot create a new folder on the desktop by dragging one shortcut onto another.

At the bottom of the desktop there are 5 icons: messages, applications, internet, contacts, phone.

Working with two SIM cards

There is only one radio module in the Samsung Galaxy S Duos S7562 smartphone, so if the user talks on one of the SIM cards, it will be out of range for subscribers who will call the second SIM card.

All management of SIM cards is carried out from the menu item "SIM card manager", where you can assign a name to the SIM card, designate which of the SIM cards will be used to access the Internet, set the SIM card icon, etc.

The Samsung Galaxy S Duos S7562 smartphone supports communication standards GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz and WCDMA 900/1900/2100 MHz.

The smartphone has a function "Active mode", the activation of which makes it possible to forward calls from one SIM card to another. The user is free to choose the direction of redirection at his own discretion. It is only worth mentioning that this function is paid for by most mobile operators.

Software

As with all Android devices, the smartphone comes with standard Google applications. Such applications are a browser, Google Places, Google Navigation, Google +, Google Talk, several simple games, Yandex maps, a standard video and audio player, mail clients (Gmail and E-mail), the Chat + client, the Samung ChatON service (analog IM), which allows you to communicate with friends around the world.

Just like all devices that run the Android operating system, the Galaxy S Duos smartphone has a Google search line located on one of the desktops.

The smartphone has a fairly good standard browser that can simultaneously work with several tabs. The main browser controls are the search bar and two shortcuts responsible for active tabs and access to saved pages.

In the main menu of the smartphone there is a submenu "Settings", in which the user can set the parameters of various functions of the device (SIM cards, wireless interfaces).

The Wi-Fi wireless communication module, in addition to the a, b and g standards, supports the N data transmission standard. The Wi-Fi module notifies the user about the found access points. Also, the user can use the Wi-Fi Direct function, which allows you to create an access point and simply set up a VPN.

The smartphone has a Bluetooth 3.0 wireless data transmission module that supports, among other things, the A2DP profile.

If you transfer data from a smartphone / to a Samsung Galaxy S Duos S7562 smartphone by wire, then the data is transferred at a speed of 25 to 480 Mbps.

Multimedia

The music applications of the Samsung Galaxy S Duos smartphone are a standard MP3 player and an FM receiver (with RDS).

The standard MP3 player plays MP3, WMA, WAV and eAAC ++ music files. In addition to playing tracks, a standard player can sort tracks by various parameters (artist, genre, album), create playlists, etc. An interesting feature is the automatic evaluation of songs, when the program independently determines the genre of the track. If you turn the smartphone upside down while playing music, the sound is muted.

The standard video player plays MP4, H.263, H.264 and WMV formats. You can watch the video both horizontally and vertically. No matter what position the screen is in, there are always pop-up video playback slider and buttons to scroll through the tracks. In general, the video player interface is very clear and accessible.

Camera

The rear camera of the Galaxy S Duos is five megapixels and the front camera is VGA. The front camera is primarily intended for video communication, but if necessary, it can be used as a mirror. The rear camera takes photos with a maximum resolution of 2592x1944 pixels, and the presence of an autofocus function in the camera module contributes to the higher quality of the images taken. In order to be able to take pictures in the dark, the camera has an LED flash, which can also be used as a flashlight if necessary.

The maximum video resolution that the main camera of the Galaxy S Duos can record is 640x480 pixels, and the reason for this low resolution is the outdated Adreno 200 graphics core installed in the smartphone. The video recording speed is 30 frames per second. The camera interface for photography and video recording is similar. During shooting, on the left and right sides of the screen there are shortcuts for various effects and settings.

Autonomy

The Samsung Galaxy S Duos S7562 smartphone has a 1500 mAh lithium-ion battery. One battery charge will be enough for a day of moderate use of the smartphone (several hours of Internet use (with an active Wi-Fi module), several hours of watching videos, several hours of games and a little talk).

Advantages of the apparatus

High-quality assembly, stylish design, user-friendly TouchWiz user interface, "hot" memory card replacement and work with two SIM cards.

Disadvantages of the model

The lack of automatic brightness control of the display backlight, the display fades in the sun, an outdated graphics core and a little overpriced.

conclusions

If you need a stylish dual-SIM device from a renowned manufacturer, and you do not need the performance that flagship models can offer, then the Samsung Galaxy S Duos S7562 smartphone is for you.
