TeXet TM-7025 review

TeXet is a Russian trade mark that was founded back in 2004. During its existence, it has managed to establish itself as a company that produces very original and even exclusive gadgets. Most of the products under the TeXet brand are in the budget class. The company recently took up the production of tablet computers. In this review I propose to take a closer look at practically the cheapest and the very first Internet tablet, officially presented on the Ukrainian market, on the Android 4.0 operating system - TeXet TM-7025.

Obviously, TeXet TM-7025 was originally planned to be released for Android 2.3, this is indicated by three keys located at the bottom of the screen, which are simply necessary for 2.X versions of this operating system, and completely unnecessary for Android 4.0. However, an updated, fourth version of this OS was suddenly released, and TeXet decided to increase demand for its devices, becoming the first to launch an Internet tablet on Android 4.0. And also for such a low price, and with simply excellent technical characteristics, the gadget simply could not help but become a hit of sales. Well, now let's see if everything is really so smooth and beautiful with TeXet TM-7025.

Design

The TeXet TM-7025 case is well made. The front panel is made of hard glossy plastic, which is very inconvenient to use because it constantly reflects various objects and easily gets fingerprints on it, the back panel is almost entirely made of aluminum (except for a small plastic insert, under which the Wi-Fi antenna is hidden) ... The sides of the tablet are wrapped in a gray frame. On the front side of the device you can find a fairly large 7-inch screen, on the right side of it you can find three touch buttons: "Home", "Menu" and "Back", as well as a camera for video calls. On the top edge there is a "On / Off / Sleep" button and a volume control button, on the right - a speaker, a slot for a microSD memory card, a connector for charging the device, mini-USB and mini-HDMI ports, a microphone and a standard 3.5 mm audio output for connecting headphones.

The dimensions of the device are as follows: 198x123x13 mm, weight - 410g, it may be a little too big, but considering that the back cover is completely made of aluminum, this is quite normal.

The design of this tablet is practically no different from similar seven-inch tablet models from other manufacturers. Only a little annoying is the too thick black frame around the screen. Well, if you do not take into account this small minus, the design is very attractive.

Display

The display is one of the biggest drawbacks of this device. It is created using TFT-LCD technology, has a resolution of 800x480, supports up to 16 million colors and up to five simultaneous touches. I can't say anything bad about its technical characteristics, but I don't even need to say anything about brightness, viewing angles and color saturation, just look at the screen once - and everything will immediately become clear. See for yourself:

Also, when viewing images of dark colors, a very unpleasant and inexplicable effect clearly appears:

In addition, the display is also very poorly calibrated, and the recalibration function is not available in this tablet. However, this is not a very big drawback, because you get used to it very quickly.

But you are unlikely to find such a budget device with a good screen. For comparison, a slightly better tablet display is slightly more expensive than TeXet TM-7025 - PocketBook A7:

As you can see, there is not much difference between them.

Specifications

On the technical side, the tablet has an almost perfect ratio of price, power and quality. TeXet TM-7025 is equipped with a fairly good high-performance ARMv7 Cortex A8 processor, which operates at a frequency of 1 GHz, with a Mali-400MP video accelerator.RAM DDR3 in the tablet is available 512 MB, non-volatile - only 4 GB, of which only 2.7 GB is available. There are 252 MB available to install applications, but you can also install them on a memory card up to 32 GB, for which the device has a special slot. The device has a WiFi 802.11 b / g / n module. There is also a USB 2.0 interface, which supports the connection of external devices (a cable for switching from miniUSB to USB is included). It works just fine. The tablet saw each of the devices that I connected to the tablet, and this is an external 500 GB hard drive, a keyboard, a 4 GB flash drive, a mouse, and of course a 3G modem.

A miniHDMI connector is also available in the device, but I didn’t manage to check its operation in practice.

Camera

TeXet TM-7025 is equipped with only a front 0.3 megapixel camera of average quality. For Skype, it will do, there is even a specially installed program for this on the tablet, which works great, only your interlocutor will see some kind of low-quality and striped image. But I think that this glitch will disappear immediately with a firmware update of the device.

Operating system

As I have said many times, TeXet TM-7025 runs on the Android 4.0 Ice Creame Sandwich operating system. So far, this platform will differ with a little unstable work, and a lot of glitches. But I think that with firmware updates to newer versions, they will disappear. As for the operation of the operating system on this particular tablet, it is at a high level. During use, everything just "flies".

One of the advantages of the Android 4.0 operating system is the unlocking of the tablet with the view of its owner's face, but for some reason this function is absent in TeXet TM-7025. There is also no function of taking screenshots, without using third-party programs.

When connected to a computer, TeXet TM-7025 is defined as a USB Mass Storage device, which is good news.

Multimedia

The multimedia capabilities of TeXet TM-7025 are at their best. The video player works just fine. He read almost all popular formats, even very high 1080p extensions. However, as for the full-fledged 3D video, in the 2160p extension, which, according to the manufacturer, the tablet should simply play with ease, everything is not so great here. None of the TeXet TM-7025 videos in 2160p resolution played normally, I tried, but either the RAM or the processor power was not enough for it.

However, I think this drawback is not at all significant, in a device with such a low screen resolution. A nice addition to the functionality of the device's video player is the function of converting ordinary video into 3D-anaglyph, which requires special “red-blue” 3D glasses. We are pleased with the presence of a special miniHDMI connector, with which the tablet can be connected to a FullHD TV. Other video players I have installed from the Android Market also performed well.

The music player only showed its best side. Deep bass and unsurpassed treble make your music listening experience great. Also in the music player there is a five-band equalizer and several music effects. The volume of music in the headphones is very high, as for the built-in speaker - it can be compared with the speaker of a mobile phone of an average price, for a tablet it can be considered a disadvantage.

The main function of any Internet tablet is, of course, surfing the Internet. In the built-in browser, I found a large number of glitches, and during work it often freezes and sometimes worked very slowly, I installed a third-party browser and it all disappeared, and the work became just wonderful. The only thing that was a little inconvenient to work with was the aspect ratio of 16: 9 and the relatively small ten-inch screen. But you quickly get used to it. And multitouch support and built-in Flash player makes surfing the Internet a pleasure.

TeXet TM-7025 supports almost all formats of e-books, and if not for the display installed in the device, then this tablet could be used as a full-fledged e-book.

Software

From the very beginning of using the tablet, you can use the following preinstalled programs:

- SPbTV - allows you to watch various TV channels;

- RIA Novosti - allows you to view the latest news that happened in the world;

- Social networks - allows you to use access to popular social networks;

- Mail.Ru Agent;

- Yandex services - mail, maps, translator and others;

- Film library;

- Clock;

- The calendar;

- Calculator;

- Google services;

- Web browser.

Also, you can install many different applications and games through the installed Android Market.

Games

Unfortunately, TeXet TM-7025 has no installed games, but you can easily install almost any of the hundreds of thousands of games presented in the Android Market on it. I immediately installed Angry Birds, several arcades and races, and luckily he read all of them without any problems or glitches.

Equipment:

- Tablet PC

- USB cable

- OTG cable

- Headphones

- Cover

- Network adapter

- Manual

- Warranty card

Conclusion

As you can see, the budget of the device is reflected in almost every aspect of the tablet. However, TeXet TM-7025 has more pluses than minuses. These include a powerful processor, a graphics accelerator, a large amount of RAM, and the new Android 4.0.1 Ice Creame Sandwich operating system, and a very low price ... As for the shortcomings, most of them will gradually disappear with the firmware update to more new versions. Therefore, if you want to purchase a very convenient and functional device for little money, then the TM-7025 tablet from the reliable Russian company TeXet is what you need!
