Review ASUS K53TA Notebook

Only two years have passed since ASUS introduced the K-series laptops. In fact, these devices are functional, reliable and have a wide range of multimedia capabilities. In a specific case, laptop model ASUS K53TA can be considered as the optimal solution for leisure and daily work. Thus, by purchasing this model, you get an excellent laptop that has sufficient performance.

Design

The ASUS K53TA laptop has a rather interesting appearance. It was created using ASUS Infusion technology. The laptop cover with a strict surface is covered with a texture pattern. This pattern consists of thin, barely visible lines. In addition, the body of the laptop is clearly defined. In the design of the device, there is a complete absence of hints of excessive rounding. ASUS has placed a corporate logo in the center of the lid. In general, if we briefly describe the design, we can say that it is a combination of minimalism and style.

In the inside, as in the outside, there is the same brown range. Only the keyboard is an exception, it is made in black and is complemented by light chrome keys under the touchpad.

Display and sound

ASUS K53TA laptop is equipped with a 15.6-inch display with a resolution of 1366x768 pixels. It is equipped with LED backlighting, and also has a cinematic aspect ratio of 16: 9. This makes the widescreen display ideal for entertainment, with sufficient brightness and richer colors, and for work when there is enough space for two open applications at the same time.

The audio system of the ASUS K53TA laptop is represented by two stereo speakers manufactured by Altec Lansing. With SRS Premium Sound technology, you can enjoy surround sound at a fairly decent level. Both low and high frequencies are well defined and the volume level is sufficient to sound a medium sized room. But be that as it may, if this sound seems to you not so balanced and realistic, you can always connect an external speaker system or, in extreme cases, use headphones.

In the display frame there is a built-in webcam with a resolution of 0.3 megapixels. With such a camera, you can communicate in chats or use it to talk with colleagues via Skype. It is likely that this webcam can shoot decent quality video.

Keyboard and touchpad

The ASUS K53TA laptop is equipped with a full-size keyboard, in which there is a separate number pad. The buttons are large and quiet enough. Due to the fact that there is an optimal distance between the buttons with the keyboard, you can work for a long time without feeling tired. In addition, the number of accidental keystrokes with this type of keyboard will be much less than usual. The layout is standard and quite comfortable.

Separately, I would like to thank the manufacturer for the presence of a digital block of buttons.

Perhaps the only thing that upsets is the low rigidity of the key block. When typing, noticeable flex will be felt.

The touchpad of the touchpad in ASUS K53TA was placed not in the center, but slightly shifted to the left side. The manipulator has clearly marked boundaries, so when performing positioning, fingers will not jump out of the field. With Palm Proof technology, you don't have to worry about accidentally touching the edge of your palm or finger to the surface of the touchpad. About the sensory area, you can also add the fact that, unlike the palm area, it is made smooth, not embossed. Despite this, positioning with such a touchpad is quite comfortable and convenient.

Processor and packaging

The laptop comes with a pre-installed 64-bit operating system Windows 7 Ultimate SP1. This OS is considered universal, as it combines the advantages of other systems. Namely: multimedia capabilities, business use, fast and efficient work.

The ASUS K53TA laptop is equipped with a powerful AMD Fusion APU A6-3400M processor, it operates at a relatively low clock speed of 1.4 GHz. With Turbo mode, the processor's nominal frequency can be increased up to 2.3 GHz. If we take into account the presence of four computing cores, then the second-level cache has a volume of 4 MB (one megabyte for each core). The processor is based on the LIano microarchitecture. It focuses on graphics power and performance.

The laptop is equipped with 4 GB DDR3-1333 RAM. This volume is represented by two two-gigabyte strips, placed in 2 slots. 4 GB is enough for the device to quickly cope with the solution of most complex calculations, as well as to work with resource-intensive applications.

The winchester installed in ASUS K53TA has a large volume - 500 GB, which in turn will allow storing a huge amount of various data. These may include texts, photos, media files, applications. The work of the hard drive is limited by the standard speed of 5400 rpm.

The notebook is equipped with hybrid graphics. Accordingly, the integrated AMD Radeon HD 6520G and the entry-level discrete graphics card AMD Radeon HD 6650M are responsible for image processing. We would like to note that when it is necessary to have high performance, these two video controllers are combined and start working together, this mode is called Crossfire. In this case, the graphics is called AMD Radeon HD 6720G2 and has 1 GB of its own memory. The mobile video card HD 6720G2 was built using 40-nanometer technology, it supports DirectX 11. With such graphics, modern games will run at medium and possibly sometimes at high settings. Thus, you can play with your favorite toys to your heart's content.

In principle, the ability to switch between video cards is implemented here, which makes it possible to use one or another adapter, depending on the task at hand.

Ports and communications

In the ASUS K53TA laptop, all ports and connectors are located on the side edges. There are no interfaces on the front and back. Only a 4-in-1 universal card reader was installed on the front end.

The main part on the right side is occupied by the optical drive. In addition to it, there are two line-in jacks for headphones and a microphone, one USB 2.0 port and a Kensington lock hole.

The opposite side of the laptop was filled even more. On it you can see two USB ports (one of them is 3.0), a digital HDMI interface, an RJ-45 network card connector and a VGA analog video output. At the very end of the end, a socket was placed for connecting a recharging unit.

If we talk about working on the Internet and the possibility of data transmission, then for these purposes the laptop was equipped with wireless adapters Bluetooth 2.1 EDR and Wi-Fi 802.11b / g / n.

Battery

Supplied with ASUS K53TA comes with a 6-cell 5200 mAh battery. Battery power will be enough for 7 hours of work in "sparing" mode, for example, when reading text documents. The same cannot be said for web browsing, in which case the operating time will be less than an hour and a half. When watching Full HD video, the battery will last a little less than four hours. The fastest way to discharge the battery is at maximum load, in which case the laptop will work no more than 90 minutes.

Conclusion

ASUS K53TA laptop has proven that it can handle most tasks. It is equipped with a quad-core processor, hybrid graphics. Despite the presence of a powerful "filling", the battery life does not suffer at all. In particular, a laptop in standard mode can work for about 6 hours.

The display and the comfortable keyboard leave a good impression. But most of all I am glad that the price for this laptop is quite democratic.
