ASUS X52F - introductory review

Design

If you compare Asus X52F with competitors, the comparison will clearly not be in their favor, since ASUS budget laptops are distinguished by very good build quality. Good plastic, precise fit of parts and pleasant to the touch texture of the body panels are the clear advantages of the tested model. Note that the use of a glossy coating in this laptop is minimized - it is present only on the lid and frame of the display, and all other panels, including the working one, are made matte. We also liked the soft brown shade in which the body parts of this model are painted.

Display

The laptop belongs to the category of classic full-size laptops and is equipped with a 15.6-inch display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. The matrix has a fairly high level of brightness, good color reproduction and did not raise any questions from us.

Performance

The configuration we tested turned out to be the most modest and at the same time the most affordable. The laptop is suitable for various tasks and will be an excellent choice for both a novice user and a person who needs a laptop for daily work with the Internet, documents and mail.

The model is equipped with an Intel Pentium Dual Core processor with a frequency of 2.0 GHz (3574 points in the PCMark 05 test), integrated graphics and 3 GB of RAM. These resources are enough for fast operation of the Windows 7 operating system and for watching videos in HD quality. You will need to install a complete operating system yourself.

Ergonomics

The full-fledged split-key keyboard has an optional numeric keypad and is great for fast typing. All keys have medium travel and are easy to press. Some of them are responsible for performing additional operations and work only with the installed proprietary software and utilities. They can be used to adjust speaker volume, screen brightness, Splendid color modes, Power4Gear settings, and webcam. In general, we liked everything, although sometimes we had a desire to increase the size of the Delete button and move it closer to the middle of the working panel.

Working hours

The standard battery has a capacity of 4800 mAh and provides good battery life, especially if you use a computer in the mode of reading text - in this case, the device will last two and a half hours without recharging.

Communications

You will find a standard set of ports and two wireless modules - Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. In addition to the VGA connector, the laptop is equipped with HDMI, which also serves to connect a monitor or TV.

Benefits:

- good design;

- good communication set.

Disadvantages:

- no serious shortcomings have been identified.
