Text formatting on Skype allows you to express your thoughts much more effectively. Users can add variety to the message using the following options:
- bold font,
- italics,
- strikethrough,
- monospaced font (letters of the same width).
Skype chips: how to style the text
To format a fragment of a message, put the desired characters before the beginning and after the end.

Note: these techniques work if the interlocutors have a new version of Skype installed.
How to undo text formatting
If you want to turn off formatting in chat, do the following.

To disable formatting in the new version of Skype, go to Instruments → Settings → Chats and SMS → Visual design of the chat → Show advanced text formatting.
Additional Skype commands for chats
Executing commands is no different from sending messages - just enter the command in the chat window and press the key Enter... The command must not be preceded by any characters (including spaces or line feeds).
- Create a chat copy and save your contact list: set the command / fork.
- Invite new users to chat: create a unique link with / get uri.
- If it is necessary to exclude the user from the chat, leaving him the opportunity to join back, run the command / kick login user.
- To exclude a user from the chat and deprive him of the right to return back, use the command / kickban login user.
- Tired of users' birthday notifications? Disable them with / nobday.
- If you want to leave a group chat, use the command / leave.
- Using the command / add you can add several users to the chat at the same time if their logins are separated by a space. For example, / add ivan vasya dima.
- In each skype chat window you can use the commands / alertsoffto turn off notifications for a specific chat window, and, accordingly, / alertson - turn them back on.
