- Several large nappies of medium thickness (eg 4-5 muslin nappies size 120x120cm, ideally muslin with bamboo, or marquise nappies);
- several warm diapers - (for example, 2-3 flannel diapers, preferably premium flannel, or knitted diapers).
I swaddle my daughter. She warms up quickly and sleeps well.

Correct diapers:
- pleasant to the touch,
- made of natural material,
- their seams are thin and neat.
I put a diaper in the crib and in the stroller, use it instead of a towel when my daughter spits up. Even instead of a diaper, so that the skin breathes. The diapers should quickly absorb moisture and not steam, so that diaper rash does not occur on the baby's skin.
Diapers made of natural textiles
- Calico - the thinnest, reusable. Made from 100% cotton: easy to wash, dry quickly, soft. It is them that I sometimes use as a diaper when the baby takes an air bath after bathing.
- Flannel (from a bike) is also made of 100% cotton fiber. They keep warm well - the baby does not freeze in them.
- Knitted are much easier to swaddle with than chintz or flannel. The elastic and soft fabric fits the child tightly, does not rub or squeeze the delicate body.
- Muslin (my favorites!) Are extraordinarily soft to the touch and breathable. Muslin is a two-layer cotton fabric - light as a cloud. It becomes even softer with each wash. I have been using these diapers from the first days of my baby's life. They do not irritate the skin or cause allergies.
The best solution for me was the absorbent and waterproof diapers based on membrane fabric. They do not allow moisture to pass through and breathe, ideally replace ordinary oilcloths.
Advantages:
- do not rustle;
- do not fade;
- wear-resistant: strong, smooth and delicate like silk;
- can be washed perfectly in standard programs at 40 ° C.
- dry almost instantly after washing.
The only difference is:
- waterproof must be wiped after pee;
- Absorbent stays dry even after a few pees.
What are the sizes of diapers for newborns
If a large child, buy diapers 70x100 cm, or even better 90x110 cm, 95x110 cm. Children grow quickly, so I advise you to buy a pair of 150x150 cm.
Also take large absorbent and waterproof ones - 100x100 cm, 130x130 cm, 150x150 cm. They are heavier than usual, the baby does not crush them under him. He will have more space when he learns to roll over. And you have more confidence that he will not vomit or wet the bed or sofa.
How many diapers does a newborn need?
My experience: 2-3 waterproof diapers and 1-2 absorbent ones are enough. Of the usual ones, I have 2 chintz, 4 flannel, 1 knitted and 3 muslin (I bought it as a set).
