How to change a water filter - replacing a cartridge in a water filter, the procedure for installing water filter cartridges

A filter is installed in the house to purify running water, but its quality does not suit you? The problem might be a cartridge that needs to be replaced every 3-6 months.

Replacing the water filter

Continuous cleaning systems consist of three standard filters. At the first stage, water passes through a polypropylene (mechanical) purifier. He is on the far right. In the center is a granular activated carbon cartridge. Left - a cartridge made of briquetted coconut activated carbon. When replacing, do not mix up the filters. Please remove the protective films from them before installation, otherwise they will not work.

How to change the cartridge in the filter:

  • turn off the water supply to the filters;
  • open the water tap. The pressure will drop and it will be much easier to remove the filter;
  • unscrew the flask with the cartridge replacement wrench that came with the kit;
  • carefully remove the old cartridge on each of the filters. Place the container under the system in advance so that the remaining water does not flood the floor;
  • pour out the remaining water from the flask and rinse it without using detergents (otherwise they will fall into your cup along with filtered water);
  • check the rubber seals (gaskets) that are located on the end face of each cartridge. If they are elastic and soft, remove them, wash and reinstall;
  • place a new replacement cartridge in a clean bottle. Fill it with clean water prepared beforehand so that air bubbles in the water do not damage the membrane. In a conventional (non-membrane) purifier, air will escape through the tap;
  • slowly tighten the filter until it stops;
  • check the tightness of all system connections. Open the water tap and make sure that no water seeps between the filter head and the flask.

If water leaks out, shut off the system and tighten the flasks. Does it leak on re-check? Check if the rubber o-ring that is located in the groove of the bulb is twisted. If it is damaged, replace it with a new one.

After replacing the filters, drain the water for 10-20 minutes so that the fine dust particles contained in the new cartridges are washed out of the treated water.
