Sennheiser HD 201 headphone review

It often happens that there is no way to use a full-fledged active speaker system and headphones are the only way out in this situation, so when the moment comes to buy a good headset, you should not make hasty conclusions and purchases, because the cost of some copies may exceed 1000 UAH.

Sennheiser HD 201 headphone review

Sennheiser HD 201 come in a standard plastic box, but they look very solid nonetheless. In addition to the headphones, an adapter for Jack 6.3 mm is attached, you will not find any CDs with drivers or other software, because this is nonsense. When working with headphones, there is only one "plug and forget" rule, no manipulations with the computer, no unnecessary gestures.

To begin with, the Sennheiser HD 201 "sits" very comfortably on the head despite the price category. By modern standards, the headphones weigh very little, only 165 grams without a cable, we can say they are quite light and comfortable, the ears are not pinched. After a few hours of listening, you will not notice any discomfort. Passive isolation of external sounds is poor. In noisy places, you will have problems with extraneous sounds, and in a quiet environment, people near you will listen to music with you.

The cups are lined with a leather substitute; if you work for a long time on a hot day, your ears may sweat. The speakers are covered with microfiber (the inner part of the ear cushions), the headband is plastic with an insert made of the same leather substitute as on the cushions of the ear cups.

The build quality is good, the headphones will not fall apart after a day of use.

In terms of design, the headset looks good, it is simple, but at the same time practical and stylish. The quality of the plastic is at a good level.

The cable is 3 meters long and will be too long for many (the main problem is constant tangling and twisting). The ability to split the cable into 2 parts would not be superfluous. The material is ordinary rubber with a minimum thickness, which is also very impractical. But the 3.5mm plug is gold-plated for better sound quality.

The headphones sound pretty good too, they work in the frequency range 21 Hz - 18 kHz with a maximum volume of 108 decibels and an impedance of 24 ohms. According to Sennheiser, harmonic distortion is no more than 0.7%. Of course, the sound is not as high-quality as that of its more expensive counterparts, but for this price it is simply excellent. There were no pronounced biases towards certain musical genres, all the melodies sounded the same.

Now about the bass. It is quite deep and voluminous, but the mid and high frequencies are not hammered. The sound is balanced. Again, for this price point, don't expect anything fancy from these headphones.

Conclusion: A very average result. We can say that these headphones are only for home use, but nothing more. They are light, sound quality and balanced enough. If you are not a DJ or do not work in a recording studio, if you choose an expensive headphone option for simple everyday tasks, then the Sennheiser HD 201 may pleasantly surprise you.
