Review of the Nokia 2323 mobile phone: an inexpensive standard

Among the models of the budget line of Nokia mobile phones, the Nokia 2323 classic takes its rightful place. A pleasant appearance and a sufficiently powerful battery, which is quite enough for more than 500 hours in standby mode, are the distinctive characteristics of this model of the Finnish company.

The standard delivery set includes:

External appearance

The Nokia 2323 classic mobile phone is a candy bar form factor. Even at first glance, the device looks decent enough. The body is made of matte black plastic. A five-way button is conveniently located in the center of the device, which also fits perfectly into the strict design of the device. On the left side there are connectors, including an interface connector for a USB cable, a 2 mm connector for a charger and a 2.5 mm headphone jack.

The mobile device is compact, fits perfectly in the pocket of a jacket or jeans, and fits comfortably in the user's hand due to its small dimensions (107 x 46 x 13 mm). But the weight of the device was not slightly modified. Since the phone weighs approximately 80 grams, which is quite noticeable.

The assembly of the case does not cause any problems or complaints. This is not the first model, which is characterized by difficulties in removing the back cover in order to place a SIM card there. And when this process ends with a positive result, it is worth noting that the SIM card itself is quite convenient and practical hiding behind the device's battery.

For lovers of various removable panels, we note that this version of a budget mobile phone does not provide for the replacement of the case, that is, there are no options for changing the external appearance.

But this phone model managed to please us with its body. Thanks to the matte finish of the case, it does not leave fingerprints.

Keyboard

The keypad of the mobile phone, like the whole body, is made of matte plastic and is characterized by a standard set of keys. In the upper part of the keypad there are buttons for accepting and canceling calls, a five-way joystick, bordered with a metal insert, and two soft buttons:

- Names (right button) - provides quick access to the list of contacts;

- Active (left button) - offers quick access to some of the device's functions: incoming messages, radio, email, various modes and others.

The main keyboard consists of 12 standard keys, which are backlit white, which is convenient enough for using the phone in the dark. However, there are some minor flaws when working with the keyboard. This applies to the set of numbers "1" and "3". Even in spite of the fact that the keys of the keypad are quite large, sometimes these two keys are "confused" with the buttons for accepting or canceling a call.

The keypad lock can be set in the phone settings and then it will turn on automatically according to the set settings. Alternatively, you can do it manually by pressing the joystick and then the star key.

Battery

The mobile phone is equipped with a BL-5C Li-Ion battery with a capacity of 1020 mAh. According to the representatives of the developer company, the battery charge is enough for 528 hours of operation of the device in standby mode and for 4 hours of talk time.

For comparison, a nokia 1680 mobile phone with a lithium-ion BL-5CA battery (capacity - 700 mAh) was tested. The battery lasted for 424 hours of standby time and 7.6 hours of talk time.

Display

The color TFT display, which the mobile phone is equipped with, has a diagonal of 1.8 inches, a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels, and is also capable of reproducing 65000 colors. With regard to roominess, the screen displays three service lines and seven text lines. For the font, you can choose the most suitable size for the user: from small to very large.

If we talk about the quality of color rendition, then it is at a fairly optimal level. Indoors, colors are bright, but slightly lost in sunlight. If we compare the screen with the screens of mobile phones of this class, the Nokia 2323 classic is inferior to its competitors.

It is also disappointing that there is no camera in the phone of the device, and sometimes it would be very useful. Thus, in this comparative issue, this mobile phone model is inferior to its competitors.

Software part

The Nokia 2323 classic mobile phone is successfully supported by the Series 40 5th Edition platform, which has been slightly modified from the previous version.

Menu

The main menu of the device is a menu consisting of nine items:

- messages;

- contacts;

- magazine;

- settings;

- gallery;

- multimedia;

- organizer;

- applications;

- the Internet.

You can navigate through the menu items using the five-way joystick. You can return to a higher level by pressing the right soft key, and exit the menu by pressing the call cancel button.

The mobile phone already has several themes installed, including light, dark, default, monkey. New themes can be downloaded directly from the phone using GPRS packet data technology.

Phone book

The phone book cannot but please its user, because it is designed for 1000 contacts. When creating a new contact, you can also enter additional information: first name, last name, mobile phone number, home phone number, email address and picture. All information is easily corrected when the need arises.

Posts

Various options are also possible when creating a new message. For example, creating a new SMS message, creating a new email message, creating a quick message, creating an audio message, or using a template.

One message can hold 5 lines of text using a standard font. One line contains 12 characters.

Mobile Internet

For convenient work with the Internet (accessing websites, using e-mail, reading news, etc.), a web browser such as Opera Mini was installed in the telephone.

Memory, file operations

With regard to the built-in memory of a mobile phone, there is no particular reason for joy. The built-in memory of the device is 32 MB, but only 8.3 MB of this memory can be used to store any information. In addition, there is no possibility of supporting memory cards of any formats.

"Gallery" (or as it is also called "file manager") consists of several folders, including music, signals, photos, videos, recordings, themes, received files. Using a Bluetooth connection, you can easily record new melodies, pictures, etc.

Music player, radio, voice recorder

The 2323 classic mobile phone is equipped with a music player. Although, many users do not see the feasibility of installing this application. After all, with such a small amount of memory, you can't really listen to music. The device is capable of playing melodies in two formats: MP3 and AAC.

Also, the device is equipped with a radio. But tuning of radio frequencies is possible only after connecting the headphones, since the headset also performs the function of an antenna at the same time.

The dictaphone works well, the memory capacity is quite enough for an hour of call recording. There are two options for "recording quality":

- the quality of the music;

- voice quality.

Games

There are three java games installed in the mobile phone:

- Galaxy Balls - Tetris with a space theme;

- Snake EX2 - a "snake" of a fairly simple level of difficulty;

- Sudoku - digital Sudoku puzzle.

Applications

With regard to the applications installed in the phone, the following are worth mentioning:

- "Converter" - that is, automatic conversion of values from one indicator to another;

- "Download!" - so to speak, the purchase and subsequent download of the necessary content to the device;

- "Cost accounting" - an application with which you can enter expenses, view previously created reviews, draw up a budget plan;

- "Organizer" - an application with a complete standard set: calendar, alarm clock, timer, calculator, stopwatch, notes and to-do's.

Main competitors

In a press release on its official website, Nokia announced the launch of budget standard mobile phones on the market - these are the Nokia 2320 classic, Nokia 2330 classic. The price range does not vary much, but there are some differences in performance. For example, the 2323 has an Internet browser and FM radio, while the 2320 does not have a built-in FM receiver or Bluetooth. Nokia 2330 Classic differs from its competitors by the built-in 0.3 megapixel camera.

Considering the competitive models among other manufacturers, the Sony Ericsson K330 mobile phone should be noted. Distinctive features of this device can be called a 1.73-inch TFT color screen (reproduces 65000 colors), FM-radio, 10 MB of RAM, 0.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth.
