HOW TO CLEAN A HUMIDIFIER DESCALED - How to descale a humidifier

A humidifier creates a comfortable microclimate that has a beneficial effect on our health. They are divided into four types:

  • steam humidifiers;
  • ultrasonic;
  • traditional humidifiers (cold steam);
  • humidification, purification and air conditioning stations.

How to descale a humidifier: 2 ways

"Easy" cleaning:

  • disconnect the device from the power supply;
  • pour out the rest of the water;
  • rinse the tank with cold running water;
  • wash the filter with hot water and soap, brush off plaque and mucous membrane with a brush;
  • rinse the filter again with cold water;
  • dry the filter parts.

Thorough cleaning:

  • Pour 9% vinegar into the tank to cover the protrusions in the tank;
  • let it get wet for half an hour or an hour;
  • pour out the vinegar and rinse the tank thoroughly with water;
  • if necessary, brush the bottom of the tank with a brush.

Finally, wipe the rest of the tank with a sponge and vinegar and water. After all parts have dried, reassemble the appliance and fill the tank with water.

Disinfection of the humidifier

Before disinfecting the device, open the windows in the room. Better yet, take the humidifier out onto the balcony. Do this:

  • dilute half a glass of household bleach (or hydrogen peroxide, if the instructions indicate that it is undesirable to use bleach) in 4 liters of water;
  • pour into the tank and turn on the device;
  • after steam or fog starts to come out of it, turn off the device;
  • drain the water after 2-3 minutes;
  • rinse the reservoir under the stream;
  • fill the container with clean water, let the device work for a few minutes;
  • drain this water and rinse the device again;
  • repeat this process until the bleach smell is gone.

The machine is now ready for operation again.

Humidifier filters
