How to choose a printer for your home - an inexpensive laser printer for your home, which one is better to buy

A home printer is a handy thing. In which case, you can print the document without leaving the apartment. On the other hand, you need to spend money wisely, and there will also be less space on your desktop. So take your time to go to the store. Read this article first before deciding which printer to buy for your home.

First, let's decide on the type of printer. There are two main types that are suitable for home use - inkjet and laser. Let's take a look at their pros and cons.

Monochrome Laser Printer

The laser printer prints with so-called "powder ink". There are two types: color and monochrome. A monochrome printer is best used for simple documents that lack illustrations and complex graphics. Or there are illustrations, but the color is not critical for them.

Benefits of a monochrome printer:

  • great for printing text documents;
  • high printing speed;
  • high productivity: one refill of a cartridge for a laser printer is enough on average for a thousand pages;
  • low cost per page;
  • low noise level during operation.

Disadvantage of such a laser printer obvious - it is not suitable for printing color images.

Color laser printer

A color laser printer works on the same principles. As it is not difficult to guess, documents are printed on it, in which there is information for which color is important.

Benefits of a color laser printer:

  • allows you to print documents containing color images, graphs, diagrams;
  • high print speed (compared to an inkjet printer).

Disadvantages of a color laser printer:

  • high price of the printer;
  • not very suitable for printing photographs.

Jet printer

An inkjet printer uses ink to print, which enters the paper through the print head nozzles. They can be both monochrome and color.

Advantages of an inkjet printer:

  • excellent quality when printing color images; on special paper, the quality of prints is not inferior to photographs printed in a laboratory;
  • relatively low price of the printer;
  • low price of inkjet printer cartridges;
  • high printing speed.

Disadvantages of an inkjet printer:

  • high cost per page (relative to a laser printer);
  • low productivity: ink lasts on average a couple of hundred pages;
  • requires more care than a laser printer.

Based on the pros and cons, we can advise the following. A monochrome laser printer is perfect for printing large quantities of text documents without images. This printer is easy to use, low maintenance and always ready to use, even after a long break. In addition, a toner refill is on average enough to print about a thousand pages.

On the other hand, if you do not plan to print a lot of documents, then you can buy an inkjet one. You won't lose anything in print quality, but you will save money, because inkjet printers are cheaper than their laser counterparts.

Inkjets are worth paying attention to if you plan to print color documents. Colored laser and are expensive, and consumables for them too. However, remember that your inkjet printer requires more careful maintenance. After a long break, ink in an inkjet printer may dry out and clog the nozzles. Therefore, you need to print something on an inkjet printer at least once a week.

A color laser printer is worth getting if you are not too tight-lipped. Although, this option is more suitable for the office than for the home.
